Leadership talk on "future directions in space research" held at amity university.
A Leadership Talk on "Future Directions in Space Research" was organized by Amity Institute of Space Science and Technology, Amity University Noida campus, during the week-long activities to commemorate National Space Day.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest, Dr. U. Raja Babu, Director General, Missiles & Strategic Systems averred, “There has always been curiosity about space in the human mind and we look at the sky and wonder about the existence about the astronomical objects in the space. There are unlimited opportunities for exploration in Space. With the advancement of science and technology, human beings have been able to understand the various galaxies and planets in space. The present era is the age of space, wherein various satellites have helped in gathering more information about space and astronomy. Today, many countries are using satellites not only for security but also for understanding the analytics of war, an example of which is the war between Russia and Ukraine. The youth is highly interested in space research and most of the researchers are coming from academia, whose research is being supported by the government and private sectors. There is no dearth of opportunities in the Space Sector and the students interested in Space Science should innovate and develop new technologies for this sector.”
Speaking on the occasion, Wing Commander Satyam Kushwaha, Director ISPA , opined, “Indian Space Association (ISPA) has been established for the successful collaborative development of the private space sector, which helps in the exchange of space-related information and technology amongst all the stakeholders across the Indian Space ecosystem, thereby enabling India to become a leader in Space Science & Technology sector. The country is making rapid strides in the global space technology sector and research will further enhance its development.”
Shri Arjun Kumar, Additional Director, TDF, DRDO stated, “Financial support and funding is a crucial element for any research which is undertaken. Technology Development Fund, DRDO, has been set up to aid funding in order to promote defense technology and to make the country self-reliant. DRDO works to meet the requirements of the Space sector and it is making significant technological development in the field of space research.
Dr. M. S. Prasad, Director, Amity Institute of Space Science and Technology said, “Amity aims to contribute to nation-building by working in the field of space research conducted by ISRO and other government agencies. The successful landing of Chandrayaan on the moon was a huge scientific achievement of our country, which made us immensely proud of our scientists. Amity is producing skilled manpower by honing the skills of the students and making them future-ready. In addition, Amity also participates in various Space Planning Programmes, organized by various organizations and focusses strongly on academia-industry collaboration.”
Also present on the occasion were Group Captain Vishnu Kumar Bajpai, DSO, Mr. John Livingstone, CEO, Jonet Technologies, Dr. Shivani Verma, Associate Professor, Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology, amongst faculty and students.
During the week- long activities, an exhibition on “Space Science & Research”, Rangoli and Poster-making Competitions were organized for the students. In addition, screening of the Documentary on “Development in Space Science in India” was also held.
