Apple’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is expected to be one of its biggest yet. After years of rumors and leaks, Apple could finally take the wraps off of its mixed reality headset, entering the company into a new product category and giving the world a first look at its attempt to prove that virtual reality is worth investing in.

There’s also certain to be a lot more: operating system updates, new apps and features, and possibly some new hardware, too. Here, we’ve pulled together details on how and when you can watch the main WWDC keynote as well as some of the announcements that we expect from Apple.

When is the WWDC 2023 keynote?

Apple has confirmed that this year’s main WWDC keynote is slated for Monday, June 5th, at 1PM ET / 10AM PT. It will take place as a digital and in-person event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, with Apple CEO Tim Cook expected to kick things off. You can view the full WWDC lineup here .

Where can I watch WWDC?

Apple will stream the WWDC keynote live from its website and YouTube channel . You can also watch the stream embedded at the top of this article. If you can’t watch the keynote live, you can always tune in to the prerecorded version Apple will post on YouTube after it airs.

With that said, let’s get into some of the biggest announcements that we expect Apple to make during WWDC.

The debut of Apple’s long-rumored mixed reality headset

Apple’s mixed reality headset is arguably one of the company’s most exciting products in years. While Apple still hasn’t even confirmed its existence, reports suggest that it will be capable of providing both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) experiences.

Seemingly called the “Reality Pro,” the developer-focused headset is expected to take on a “ski goggle” look that comes with a physical dial that lets you tune in and out of virtual reality . According to Bloomberg ’s Mark Gurman, it’s also supposed to feature a multitude of external sensors to support hand tracking along with sensors on the inside of the headset that track your eyes.

The headset will likely exist as a standalone device, sporting a battery pack that connects to the headset using a proprietary cable. As for its technical specifications, it’s rumored to feature an M2 chip with 16GB of RAM. Meanwhile, supply chain analyst Ross Young says the device could feature two 1.41-inch Micro OLED screens with 4,000 ppi each . Young adds that the displays are capable of delivering over 5,000 nits of brightness and that users should be able to see 4K resolution in each eye.

So far, reports suggest that Apple has been busy building VR versions of some of its native apps, including Safari, FaceTime, Apple TV, Apple Books, Freeform, and more. It may also come with a feature that allows the headset to function like an external display for your Mac . With an expected price tag of around $3,000 , Apple’s headset won’t come cheap. Although Apple’s supposedly working on more affordable versions of the device as well , we likely won’t see them at this year’s event.

There have already been signs that Apple might be planning to reveal its “Reality Pro” headset at WWDC, as the company has sent out an invite to an editor at the VR-focused outlet UploadVR . Apple has also posted an AR teaser on its site , which shows a thin, film-like Apple logo with the date of WWDC wherever you point your iPhone or iPad’s camera.

A reveal at WWDC doesn’t mean we should expect the headset to ship imminently. Bloomberg has previously reported that Apple may focus on getting developers up to speed with the device in June but wait until later in the year to actually ship it. That lines up with The Information ’s reporting , which claims a “fall or winter” launch date is likely.

A brand-new 15-inch MacBook Air

An image of the M2 MacBook Air.

Apple is also expected to launch a larger 15-inch option for the MacBook Air — a device that has long featured a standard 13-inch display. We first heard about the device last year , and more detailed rumors have piled up since then.

The 15-inch MacBook Air will likely come with the in-house M2 chip used in the MacBook Air models released last year. As noted by a report from Bloomberg , it may also feature the same 3024 x 1964 resolution as the 14-inch MacBook Pro , although the screen may be a bit less sharp since it has an extra inch of space to fill in.

Along with the MacBook Air, Gurman says Apple is gearing up to release “several new Macs,” but it’s not exactly clear which ones. The company’s rumored to be working on a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Air, and a 24-inch iMac, all of which could come with a new M3 chip. Apple is also getting ready to expand its trade-in program to include the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air, 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro, and the Mac Studio on June 5th, according to Gurman , which could signal that new devices are on the way.

New features for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS

An iPhone 14 Pro showing the Dynamic Island making a phone call

WWDC is an event for developers, which means we’re bound to see some updates to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and more.

That includes the reveal of iOS 17, which is rumored to come with a variety of smaller quality-of-life updates . Apple already previewed the suite of accessibility features that will likely arrive with the new OS, including a Personal Voice tool that lets users create a synthetic voice with 15 minutes of training. iOS 17 may also introduce a feature that turns the iPhone’s lock screen into a smart home-style display when it’s tilted horizontally, according to Bloomberg .

Apple is also expected to include some updates for Stage Manager in iPadOS 17, the multitasking interface that my colleague David Pierce said “still doesn’t work,” even after Apple officially released it last October. The updates sound like they’re more on the technical side of things , though, and less about its general functionality.

Not much is known about what’s in store for macOS 14 and tvOS 17, but Apple is reported to be giving watchOS 10 a fairly big update that adds a new widget-heavy interface .

A mental health-focused journaling iPhone app

Speaking of iOS 17, a report from The Wall Street Journal indicates that Apple will launch a new journaling app for the iPhone that will let you write down your thoughts and activities throughout your day.

It may also provide suggestions of topics for you to write about and offer “All Day People Discovery” to keep track of who you spend time with as well as even detect when you do something you usually don’t do on a certain day. While Apple is expected to reveal the app at WWDC, the company will likely launch it in the fall.

The opening of Apple’s closed ecosystem

Apple is running out of time to comply with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). While some of the rules have already gone into effect, “digital gatekeepers” like Apple have until March of next year at the latest to let users download third-party app stores and sideload apps within the EU, something Apple has strongly expressed opposition to over security concerns.

That’s why it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise if Apple uses WWDC to preview some of the changes it’s making to its iPhone and iPad ecosystems. (Or at least quietly inform developers that the change is coming.) According to Bloomberg , Apple is looking to “overhaul” iOS in order to comply with European regulators.

In addition to allowing sideloading, speculation is rampant that Apple may no longer require third-party browsers to use Apple’s own WebKit engine, which would allow more differentiation in mobile browsers. The company could also open up access to its NFC chip, which is currently limited to Apple services like Apple Wallet and Apple Pay.

What’s next for Apple?

Apple has a ton of new Macs on deck, and while we aren’t expecting all of them to make an appearance at WWDC, it’s always a possibility. Aside from the upcoming MacBooks we mentioned earlier, we know that Apple’s working on a Mac Pro with Apple’s in-house chip , an updated 24-inch iMac , and two new models of the Mac Studio.

We’re also keeping an eye out for Apple’s next move in the AI space. While the company has remained relatively quiet about its AI ambitions, the company’s job listings indicate that it’s looking to hire people who specialize in the field. It also recently restricted employees from using ChatGPT over concerns about data leaks, which raises the question of whether it will build its own AI system for workers like Samsung is .

Of course, we can also look forward to the release of the iPhone 15 later this year. Rumors suggest that all models of the iPhone 15 will come with the Dynamic Island this time around (not just the Pro), and it could also feature a USB-C charging port (thanks to yet another EU regulation). That, however, will have to wait for September.

Apple’s WWDC 2023 event: everything Apple revealed

New Macs, new software, and a new headset, we got it all.

Bryan M. Wolfe

Apple fans have eagerly anticipated this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and they probably weren’t disappointed with the WWDC 2023 keynote. For the first time since the Apple Watch was teased in late 2014, Apple has introduced an entirely new product with a new operating system. The company revealed the long-rumored Apple Vision Pro VR headset in this case. Apple also announced a second-generation Mac Studio, all-new 15-inch MacBook Air laptop , and, gulp, an Apple silicon-based Mac Pro. Being a developer’s conference, Apple also demoed new versions of iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and macOS 14 Sonoma.

Here are all our stories from the event:

What happened?

Since at least 2002, WWDC has served as one of the most critical weeks on the annual Apple calendar. This year’s event happens on the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, CA, from June 5-9.

Although WWDC is geared towards app developers, the annual Monday keynote address that kicks off the event always gets the most attention from the worldwide press — and anyone who owns an Apple product. This year’s speech was once again live-streamed across multiple outlets, including YouTube, the Apple website , Apple TV, and Twitter. You can see a recording of the entire event below.

Apple has also revealed the finalists of its Apple Design Awards, too.

Apple Vision Pro

apple presentation 2023 time

Undoubtedly, the most important part of this year’s WWDC, from Apple’s perspective, was the long overdue reveal of a dedicated reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro. Rumored for years, the wearable device is the company’s biggest new product since Apple Watch was released in 2015 — which happens to be the year Apple started working on it. Though announced today, June 5, the wearable device won’t be released until early 2024. Yes, you read correctly, not until next year.

The Apple Vision Pro’s massive presence during the WWDC keynote suggests Apple is firmly committed to it, although its massive price ($3,499) tag can’t be discounted. It’s a lot and almost certainly means millions of Apple fans will be waiting on the sidelines for a cheaper version to arrive.

  • Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset: everything you need to know

Three new Macs

Apple Macbook Air 15in display

The rumors were true, and Apple revealed new Macs at this year’s keynote. The first was a larger 15-inch MacBook Air that looks very similar to the 2022 13-inch MacBook Air . This model has an M2 chip inside and is available in four familiar colors, midnight, starlight, silver and space gray.

A next-generation Mac Studio was also revealed. Starting once again at $1,999, the new model is similar to last’s year version, except that it contains new chips, the M2 Max or new M2 Ultra, depending on your needs and budget.

Finally, although an Apple silicon Mac Pro was long expected to get released, it came as a surprise that Apple released it at WWDC. It starts at $6,999 and is packed with pro-level features. With its M2 Ultra chip, you can max out at 192GB of unified memory from a 24-core CPU and 76-core GPU, with a memory bandwidth of 800GB/s. There’s also a 32-core Neural Engine to handle computational tasks without breaking a sweat.

  • Apple iPhone 15 launch date: when will Apple’s next iPhone appear?

Yes, there was new software

Apple WatchOS 10 golf tennis

The WWDC 2023 keynote, like previous ones, also featured new iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS versions. However, thanks to the Apple Vision Pro reveal, each was somewhat light on new features.

The newest software for iPhone contained numerous updates and two new features – StandBy and Journal. It doesn’t appear to be a sizable release and that’s fine — as long as it fixes some bugs that have been sticking around with iOS 16+.

Getting even less screen time at WWDC was iPadOS 17. The update’s biggest new feature should be a familiar one: a fresh Lock Screen that first debuted on iPhone in iOS 16. There are also interactive widgets (which are also on iOS 17), improved search features and more.

macOS 14 Sonoma

macOS Sonoma unveiled on stage

Not surprisingly, the next version of macOS includes many of the same tools announced for iPhone and iPad, including improved widgets, better iMessage search filters, and keyboard enhancements. New screensavers are also making their appearance in macOS 14 Sonoma.

Interestingly, watchOS 10 provides Apple Watch with its biggest update in years. The update improves the Apple Watch experience and offers a fresh look for many popular apps. It also brings (back) a Smart Stack and two new faces, including one with Snoopy. WatchOS 10 also includes new cycling exercise tools.

Finally, there’s tvOS 17 for Apple TV. The new features include (finally) FaceTime for Apple TV and, wait for it, a remote control finder.

Public releases

Each of the new Macs Apple revealed are available for pre-order now and will officially launch on June 13. The Apple Vision Pro will require a longer wait. Apple says the first models won’t arrive until “early next year” in the U.S.

If you want to test new versions of iOS, iPadOS, etc., you can become an Apple developer or join the company’s public beta program . Public versions of each will be available sometime this fall.

Final thoughts

I’ve been covering WWDC keynotes for many years across many sites. This year’s event had two big surprises: just how massive the Apple Vision Pro reveal was and the thrilling introduction of the Apple silicon Mac Pro.

The former will be discussed heavily in the coming months as we wait for its official launch in 2024. In terms of presentation, I was much more impressed with the Apple Vision Pro than I expected. It looks like a solid device backed by large swaths of the Apple tech workforce. The biggest unknown, of course, is whether its high price will set it back significantly. My bet is price doesn’t matter in this case, as Apple’s plan is most likely to appeal to business users first before releasing a less expensive consumer version in late 2024 or 2025.

The Mac Pro, another product not for the masses, is the last macOS product to switch from Intel to Apple silicon. It represents a terrific opportunity for business users and creatives to make a long-awaited switch.

Regarding software announced at WWDC, the jury is mostly out until it’s tested by those of us outside of Apple. Beta testing will give us an idea of what’s good and not-so-good about each software title in the coming weeks. In other words, stay tuned.

Apple iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max

iPhone 15 Pro Max render based on leaked information by Hanstsaiz

The main focus of Apple’s September 2023 event will be on the all-new iPhone 15 Series of devices, including the core iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, Pro, and Pro Max — all of which are set to now feature USB-C ports as standard.

The all-new port might have a few tricks up its sleeve however, as a recent leak seems to showcase a mystery chip that could serve as a verification step for Apple's Made for iPhone (MFi) certification. Reportedly, USB-C cables lacking this certification could be limited in charge times and data speed.

However, it could also point to lightning-fast Thunderbolt/USB4 tech inclusion and have something to do with the rumors that iPhone 15 will feature vastly improved 35W charge speeds . Either way, Apple seems to want to claim sole ownership of the best iPhone 15 charging and data speeds.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to make use of Apple’s A16 Bionic chip, the same found in iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. Both devices are also said to feature an upgraded 48MP main camera, Super Retina XDR OLED displays, and up to 512GB of storage.

The two core options differ mostly in screen size and battery capacity with the iPhone 15 featuring a 60Hz, 6.1-inch panel with a 3,877mAh battery and the iPhone 15 Plus housing a 60Hz, 6.7-inch screen and a 4,912mAh battery.

On the other hand, iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to make use of Apple’s A17 Bionic chip , the company’s first 3nm processor. Not only will this bring more performance to Apple’s flagship phones, but also better efficiency, squeezing the most out of the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max’s expanded 3,650mAh and 4,852mAh battery capacities.

While the iPhone 15 Pro Max model will reportedly feature an upgraded telephoto (now periscope) lens (ditching the digital zoom of old for a variable optical zoom), both Pro models will apparently enjoy a new titanium casing with curved edges, up to 1TB of storage, and 120Hz displays at 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches in size.

Apple Watch Series 9

Apple Watch Series 8 substituting Apple Watch Series 9

The fact we’ve heard very little about what to expect from the Apple Watch Series 9 might give you an indication of what to expect in terms of its latest refresh.

A recent roadmap laid out by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicates that Apple has been hard at work on two Apple Watch Series 9 models for release this year — likely the 41mm and 45mm aluminum and stainless steel designs of old. When it comes to color options, the aluminum model will reportedly be available in Midnight, Starlight, Silver, (PRODUCT) RED, and Pink. The stainless steel model will be available in three colors: Gold, Graphite, and Silver.

Much of what was the Apple Watch Series 8 will carry over, though Apple has reportedly refreshed the watch’s internals with a more powerful S9 chip . The new chipset will be based on Apple’s A15 Bionic, bringing better performance and battery life to the table just in time to make the most of the upcoming watchOS 10 release.

  • Apple Watch Series 9 rumors

Apple Watch Ultra substituting Apple Watch Ultra 2

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 , a follow-up to the awesome Apple Watch Ultra , is also touted to make an appearance, appearing on the same roadmap as the Apple Watch Series 9 and similarly earmarked for a 2023 release.

Information about what to expect from the second generation of Apple’s smartwatch is scarce, but it’s likely to receive the same processor upgrade as the Apple Watch Series 9 — resulting in the same S9 chipset performance and efficiency boost.

The next big hardware change we’re likely to notice when it comes to the Apple Watch Ultra’s design will be when Apple begins outfitting the smartwatch with its own in-house micro-LED displays . But don’t expect to see that change until at least 2025.

However, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will feature changes you won’t automatically notice by way of 3D-printed titanium components that cut the cost of manufacturing the device and reduce its weight. Will the reduced production costs translate into more affordable pricing for Apple’s premium wearable? That remains to be seen.

Apple September 2023 event: What else could we see?

There’s always room for “One more thing…” at an Apple event, and while Apple Park is known to spring more leaks than a TENA commercial, the potential for a surprise reveal still exists. Here are some of our picks for outside chances heading to Apple’s September 2023 event:

Apple iPad Mini (Gen 7)

Apple iPad Mini 6 substituting Apple iPad 7

A recent leak by tipster ShrimpApplePro indicates that at least one iPad could be set to steal some of the keynote spotlight — likely the iPad Mini 7 .

However, while the tipster feels its appearance is a possibility, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman doesn't share the same enthusiasm. In a January issue of his Power On newsletter, Gurman stated that he believes Apple is unlikely to release any significant iPad upgrades this year.

This would also line up with a tweet from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo , who believes that the next iPad mini refresh will begin mass production in Q1 of 2024.

The last iPad Mini launched in September 2021, running on Apple’s A15 Bionic chip and 4GB of RAM. While the leak doesn’t go into any further details about what to expect, we can assume Apple would at the very least have an upgrade to the chipset in mind.

Though, before anybody starts dreaming of an M2 iPad Mini, we’d expect an upgrade to the A16 Bionic processor at most.

  • iPad mini 7 rumors

Whether you’re a fan of the smartphones, smartwatches, or software that Apple produces, September’s showcase will have something for everyone — and see Apple sign off on a massively important and successful 2023. Apple Event 2023: iPhone 15 & Apple Stock Catalysts

Apple's annual September iPhone launch is always big tech news, but this year's event has extra significance. In 2023, the iPhone maker is struggling with soft demand for smartphones. And, to make matters worse, the Wall Street Journal recently reported that China is prohibiting central government officials from using iPhones due to security concerns.

Read on to learn about the iPhone updates Apple is likely to announce, and whether those updates will be exciting enough to boost Apple's smartphone sales in the final months of the year.

What Is Apple's September 2023 Event?

Apple's September 2023 event, named Wonderlust according to the media invitation, should unveil a new iPhone model and other product updates.

Historically, Apple has dedicated its September event to iPhone and Apple Watch news. At last year's "Far Out" event on September 7, 2022, for example, Apple announced the four versions of the iPhone 14 plus three Apple Watches and an updated AirPods Pro.

A separate Apple event in October should cover Mac and iPad updates.

What Is the Time And Date Of Apple's 2023 Event?

Apple will host its 2023 event on Tuesday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m. ET or 10:00 a.m. PT. Wonderlust will stream live from Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple's campus in Cupertino, California. You can watch the stream online at apple.com , on the Apple TV app or on Apple's YouTube channel .

What Is Apple Likely To Announce?

The headline announcement this year will be the iPhone 15 line-up, which should include:

  • 6.1-inch iPhone 15
  • 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus
  • 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro
  • 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max (possibly renamed to the Ultra)

MacRumors and other outlets expect that all four models will include the Dynamic Island, an updated 5G modem plus a USB-C port.

Dynamic Island

The Dynamic Island is an interactive notification system currently implemented on iPhones 14 Pro and Pro Max. The island replaces the "notch," a cutout at the top of the iPhone screen that housed the front camera and Face ID sensors.

For all iPhone 15 models, that hardware will sit behind a pill-shaped area and a pinhole cutout. Apple added display pixels and software integration to create the Dynamic Island—recapturing formerly unused screen space.

On iPhone 14 Pro models, the Dynamic Island delivers low battery alerts, confirms Apple Pay transactions, unlocks the Apple Watch, shows connected AirPods and their battery life, displays privacy notifications when the camera or microphone is being used, allows Face ID phone unlocking and more.

Updated 5G Modem

Apple is working on its own 5G chip, but that development is apparently not ready for primetime. MacRumors reports that the iPhone 15 models will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 chip. That upgrade should improve speeds, coverage, signal quality and power efficiency. iPhone 14 models have the prior-generation X65 chip.

Qualcomm did announce an X75 chip in February 2023. Qualcomm said the new modems would appear in devices in the latter half of this year. Unfortunately that puts the X75 a bit behind the iPhone 15 development schedule. For that reason, media and analysts believe the 15s will have the older X70 chips.

In 2022, European Union lawmakers agreed on legislation requiring smartphones and other electronic devices to have USB-C charging ports by fall of 2023. Apple confirmed later in the year that iPhones would comply. That means replacing Apple's proprietary Lightning port with the more standardized USB-C.

9to5Mac says the switch to USB-C could result in faster charging speeds for the iPhone 15s. The rumor is that the iPhone 15 Pro models will support 35W charging. Standard iPhone 14s charge at 20W, while iPhone 14 Pros charge at 27W. Samsung's Galaxy S23 Ultra charges at 45W.

Other Rumored iPhone Updates

Some media outlets have also leaked that the iPhone Pro Max will get a periscope lens that allows for up to 6x optical zoom. For context, the iPhone 14 Pro models currently have 3x optical zoom.

Bloomberg analyst Marc Guman, a historically reliable source for Apple product news, adds two more tidbits to the rumor mill. Guman says the iPhone 15 Pro models will have a titanium frame in lieu of stainless steel. That'll add durability, lessen fingerprints and lighten the weight of the phone.

Guman also believes Apple will rebrand the Pro Max phones, calling them Ultra instead.

New Chips And OS For Apple Watch

Apple's September event will also cover Apple Watch updates. Specifically, the company will introduce Series 9 plus a new Ultra watch. The biggest update expected is faster chips for upgraded performance on all new watch models. There may be new color options for the watch case as well.

Apple will also publicly release watchOS 10, the latest version of the Apple Watch operating system. WatchOS 10 has a widgetized interface, which automatically displays the most frequently accessed information at different times of the day.

Additionally, the updated OS has new features for health and fitness tracking. Cyclists and hikers, for example, will see new metrics and data. And, Mindfulness app users will have the ability to log moods for an improved view of their mental health trends.

China’s iPhone Ban

In early-September, media outlets reported that China had prohibited use of the iPhone in government offices. The rumors escalated quickly, with some sources speculating that the ban could extend to all China-owned businesses. AAPL stock dipped more than 7.5% as a result.

In an appearance on CNBC's Closing Bell , Wedbush analyst Dan Ives says the market is overreacting to the China news. He estimates at worst the ban affects 500,000 units, out of 45 million sold in China. Ives predicts year-over-year sales in China will actually increase despite the ban.

Will The iPhone 15 Be An AAPL Stock Catalyst?

In the nine months ended July 1, 2023, Apple product sales were $231 billion, down from $245 billion in the prior-year period. That slowdown isn't specific to Apple. Consumers in the U.S. and China are buying fewer smartphones across all brands.

A successful iPhone 15 launch will prop up those weaker sales. The question is, are the updates compelling enough to drive nervous consumers to upgrade in an uncertain economy?

Counterpoint analyst Hanish Bhatia believes the iPhone 15 launch will be an Apple stock catalyst. In an interview with Investor's Business Daily , Bhatia said the iPhone’s position as a premium brand works in Apple’s favor. Demand in the higher end of the smartphone market has been more consistent vs. value brands.

Several media sources also predict a $100 to $200 price increase for the Pro and Pro Max (or Ultra). The increase should help Apple’s product revenue in the fourth quarter—to the extent early adopters absorb the higher price in exchange for the enhanced optical zoom and titanium case.

Ives believes customers will upgrade at the higher price tag. He says the iPhone 15 launch will push AAPL 20% higher.

What Else Should Apple Stock Investors Watch For?

Apple likely has more big announcements to watch, later this year and in 2024. At the top of the list is the M3-powered Mac. Mac, like the iPhone, has had softer sales, showing a 7% period-over-period decline in the third quarter. The M3 will be the latest version of Apple’s M-series silicon chip. It’s expected to be faster and more efficient than the M2.

Typically, Apple will launch a standard version of the chip and then follow with Pro, Max and Ultra versions. The higher-end chips will be used in the more expensive Macs. For example, Apple uses standard M1 and M2 chips in its base MacBook Pro and MacBook Airs. Upgraded Macbook Pro machines use Pro and Max chips, and Mac Studio and Mac Pro use Ultra chips.

Gurman predicts Apple will launch a 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Air with the standard M3 chip in October of this year. The more expensive Macs equipped with M3 Pro, Max and Ultra chips will likely launch in 2024.

Apple should also introduce some minor updates to the iPad in October. The bigger news is that analysts expect a more significant iPad update in 2024 that may include the M3 processor, larger screens, improved keyboard and OLED screen.

Bottom Line

In 2023, Apple is battling a weak smartphone environment and potentially damaging resistance from China. A successful iPhone launch in September would generate much-needed momentum for a stronger fourth quarter.

Key iPhone upgrades include the interactive Dynamic Island that replaces the notch, a faster 5G modem, USB-C charging port and a more powerful camera and titanium case on the Pro models. Several analysts predict that iPhone users will upgrade for those new features, even if the new phones cost more. That should result in improved sales for Apple—plus a higher stock price for shareholders.

Apple Events 2024: Apple’s event plans

Karen Haslam

Apple doesn’t participate in big industry-wide events such as CES or E3. The most valuable company in the world holds its own events, thank you very much. Several times a year, Apple invites the press and industry professionals to Apple Park to hear all about its latest products and services. Apple calls these ‘events,’ and streams them live online to millions of watchers.

In 2023 there were three such events: WWDC in June, the Wonderlust iPhone event in September and Apple’s second fall event on October 30 (or October 31 if you weren’t in the U.S.). Similarly, in 2022 Apple held three events: a spring event on March 8, WWDC on June 6, and the iPhone 14 launch on September 7. In other years Apple has held four events though, and in 2024 has already held one event (in May). Will Apple hold four events in 2024?

Read on to find out what events and new Apple product launches the company has in store for 2024.

When is Apple’s next event?

Apple held an event titled ‘Let loose’ on Tuesday May 7 , at 7am PT, but when will the next event be?

Apple will kick off WWDC in June with another keynote event. Apple has already announced WWDC24 will take place from June 10-14 , starting with a keynote on June 10 at 10am PT.

What time will the next Apple event start?

The WWDC keynote will start at 10 am PT. That translates to the following times in the countries where most of our readers live:

  • U.S.: at 10 am (PST/PDT), 11 am (MST/MDT), noon (CST/CDT), 1 pm (EST/EDT)
  • Canada: as above, and 2 pm (AST/ADT)
  • U.K.: at 6 pm (GMT/BST)
  • Europe: at 7pm (CET/CEST), 8 pm (EET/EEST)
  • India: at 10.30 pm (IST)
  • Australia: Next day at 1 am (AWST/AWDT), 2.30 am (ACST/ACDT), 3 am (AEST/AEDT)
  • New Zealand: Next day at 5 am (NZST/NZDT)

How long does an Apple event last?

Apple keynotes usually last between one and two hours and feature CEO Tim Cook along with various other Apple executives. WWDC and the September event tend to be longer keynotes; the spring and late-fall events can be slightly shorter.

When does Apple usually hold events?

Apple holds three or four live or live-streamed events throughout the year where the company unveils its latest products and plans during a keynote address. They are usually held during similar times of the year:

  • March/April: Spring event (in 2024 this was held in May)
  • June: WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference)
  • September: Fall event (aka iPhone and Apple Watch launch event)
  • October/November: Late-fall event(s)

This event calendar is by no means set in stone, though, with the spring and October events being less regular. Some years, Apple doesn’t hold a spring event at all, as was the case in 2023.

The summer and September events are more predictable, with software coming at WWDC in June and iPhones and Apple Watches in September. The October event often sees Apple launch new Macs, but this is another one that changes from year to year.

What Apple events will take place in 2024?

Here are the events we expect to see in the remainder of 2024, and what could launch.

WWDC: June 10-14 2024

WWDC will take place from June 10-14 with the event kicking the conference off at 10am on June 10, 2024.

Apple uses WWDC each year to unveil the latest versions of its operating systems, so in 2024 we’ll get a preview of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, and tvOS 18, and possibly an update to Apple’s realityOS.

The WWDC keynote is where Apple will announce its next major operating system releases: iOS and iPadOS 18 , macOS 15 , tvOS 18, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2. Expect to hear a lot about AI this year.

Apple’s Vision Pro headset hasn’t yet launched in locations including the U.K. Europe, Canada and Australia, so Apple could mention a date for the worldwide launch.

Apple sometimes announces new hardware at WWDC, so we could see new Macs: Mac Studio M3 Max and M3 Ultra and Mac Pro with the same chips, although now that the iPad Pro is shipping with M4 chips perhaps Apple will jump to that generation. We may also see a new Mac mini with M3 and M3 Pro – or that may wait for the M4.

Following the keynote on the Monday, developer events and sessions will run throughout the week.

Dates for WWDC:

  • WWDC 2024: June 10-14
  • WWDC 2023: June 5-9
  • WWDC 2022: June 6-10
  • WWDC 2021: June 7-11

  • WWDC 2019: June 3-7
  • WWDC 2018: June 4-8
  • WWDC 2017: June 5-9

You can read more about WWDC date, times and everything you need to know in a separate article.

iPhone 16 launch event: September 2024

Apple always holds an event in September, and almost always uses this to announce a new iPhone and Apple Watch. (The only exception in recent memory was in 2020, as a result of Covid-related production issues. That year the iPhone was announced in October, but there was still a September event.)

What else could we see? A new iPad mini and iPad Air . The AirPods could get an update (or two) and we might even see a HomePod with a screen .

October 2024 Event

There could be iPad and Mac events in October and/or November 2024. But this is a long way off so we won’t get into too much detail just yet.

In the past, Apple has held a second fall event on the following dates:

  • 2023: Monday, October 30
  • 2022: No event
  • 2021: Monday, October 18

WWDC 2023 Biggest Reveals: Vision Pro Headset, iOS 17, MacBook Air and More

From its expected AR/VR headset to new Macs to software updates like iOS 17, here's what Apple unveiled at WWDC.

apple presentation 2023 time

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference kicked off on Monday with a keynote address showing everything coming to the company's lineup of devices. WWDC has been typically where the company gives us a first look at new software for iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches and Macs. But this year, Apple revealed a bevy of new hardware, too.

The big announcement was the debut of the Apple Vision Pro headset, a "new kind of computer," as CEO Tim Cook put it in the presentation. But with MacBook Air and other Mac hardware announcements -- including new silicon -- as well as software upgrades, no corner of Apple's ecosystem lacked for updates.

The Vision Pro will cost $3,499.

Apple Vision Pro, a new headset

The Apple Vision Pro is the company's answer to the AR and VR headset race. It's a personal display on your face with all the interface touches you'd expect from Apple, with an operating system that looks like a combination of iOS, MacOS and TVOS. And it's not going to come cheap: The Apple Vision Pro retails for $3,499 and will start shipping early next year, though only in the US.

The device itself looks like other headsets, though the glass front hides cameras and even a curved OLED outer display (more on why later). The headset is secured to the wearer's head with a wide rear band (an over-the-top strap is optional), though as rumors suggested, there's an external battery back that connects over a cable and sits in your pocket. There's a large Apple Watch-style digital crown on the right side that lets you dial immersion (i.e. the outside world) in and out.

The Vision Pro has three-element lenses that enable 4K resolution, though you can swap out lenses, presumably for different vision capabilities. Audio pods are embedded within the band to sit over your ears, and "audio ray tracing" maps sound to your position. A suite of lidar and other sensors on the bottom of the headset track hand and body motions.

Technically speaking, the Vision Pro is a computer, with an M2 chip found on Apple's highest-end computers. But a new R1 chip processes all the other headset inputs from 12 cameras, five sensors and six microphones, and sends it to the M2 to reduce lag and get new images to its displays within 12 milliseconds. The Vision Pro runs the new VisionOS , which uses iOS frameworks, a 3D engine, foveated rendering and other software tricks to make what Apple calls "the first operating system designed from the ground up for spatial computing."

Interior cameras track your facial motion, which is projected to others when on FaceTime and other video chatting apps.

Apple Vision Pro

Apple Vision Pro can scan your face to create a digital 3D avatar.

To keep users from being cut off from the outside world, the EyeSight feature uses inside-pointing cameras and the headset's outer display to show your eyes -- essentially showing people around you what your eyes are focusing on . If you've dialed your immersion all the way on, your eyes will disappear on the outside screen. But you're not totally cut off. While wearing the headset, if someone approaches you they'll filter in to your vision.

The interface uses hand motions to control the device, though there are also voice controls. It's tough to tell how these controls will work, and we'd expect that users will need some time to adapt to not using a mouse and keyboard.

This isn't just an entertainment device. Apple is pitching its first new product in eight years as a work-from-home and travel device, essentially letting you open however many windows you want. It can work in the office as a display for Macs, and supports Apple's Magic Keyboard and Trackpad devices.

The Vision Pro has Apple's first 3D cameras and can take spatial photos, providing 3D depth with binaural audio to experience moments with more immersion. Of course, this spatial experience is extended to movies that's "impossible to represent on a 2D screen," Apple said during its presentation, continually teasing the exclusivity that non-headset wearers won't even understand without trying out a Vision Pro. Disney CEO Bob Iger took the WWDC stage to vouch for the headset, and followed with a short video showing interactive 3D experiences that Vision Pro users will soon get to experience on the Disney Plus streaming service.

Now that Apple has all these new cameras and eye-tracking, it's introduced a way to secure your data and purchases with Optic ID , which uses your eyes as an optical fingerprint for authentication. Camera data is processed at the system level, so what the headset sees isn't fed up to the cloud.

New MacBook Air 15

As was rumored, Apple announced a new MacBook Air 15 , a larger version of the MacBook Air 13 that launched last year.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is powered by an M2 chip and gets up to 18 hours of battery life. Configurations can come with up to 24GB of memory and up to 2TB of storage, retailing for $1,299 to start (or $1,199 with a student discount).

The 15-inch model is 11.5mm thick and 3.3 pounds, and has two Thunderbolt ports and a Magsafe cable connector -- along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. It has an above-display 1080p camera in a notch, three microphones and six speakers with force-canceling subwoofers.

Mac Studio with M2

A new Mac Studio has landed and it comes with Apple's latest silicon. The new model comes with an M2 Max chipset, or the new M2 Ultra chipset -- essentially two M2 Max chips combined, which enables up to 192GB of memory.

The M2 Ultra stole the spotlight with new capabilities, with a 24-core CPU and streaming 22 videos at 8K ProRes resolution at once. It can support up to six Apple Pro Displays at once.

The Mac Studio starts at $1,999 and will be available starting next week.

Mac Pro with M2 Ultra

Apple wasted no time announcing that its new high-end desktop Mac Pro model would get the M2 Ultra as well. The new Mac Pro gets all the M2 Ultra upgrades as the Studio, including support for up to 192GB of RAM.

The Mac Pro has eight thunderbolt ports, two HDMI ports and dual 10GB ethernet ports, with six open PCIe Gen 4 slots. The new Mac Pro comes in both upright tower and horizontal rack orientations.

The new Mac Pro starts at $6,999 and will be available starting next week.

iOS 17 brings a ton of quality-of-life improvements, and the iOS 17 developer beta is available now to download. Finally, you can use more filters while searching within your Messages. In addition to pressing and holding on messages to reply, you can also simply swipe on specific messages to reply to them, and voice notes will be transcribed.

Say goodbye to gray screens when you get calls -- now you can set full-screen photos or Memoji  to contacts when they call you. And if someone leaves a voicemail, you can see it transcribed in real time to help you screen calls if you don't recognize a caller.

apple presentation 2023 time

A new safety feature, Check In, sends a note to a trusted contact when you reach a location -- like when you make it home safe after late-night travel. If it's taking you longer to get to a destination, you'll be prompted to extend the timer rather than alert your contact. It also shares your battery and signal status. Check In is end-to-end encrypted.

Last year, Apple introduced an iOS feature to let you copy photo subjects and paste them as stickers -- and now you can do that with video to essentially create GIFs to share with friends or even as responses to Messages. All emoji are now shareable stickers, too.

AirDrop has been a helpful tool to send files between Apple devices, but now you can share your contact info with Name Drop . You can choose what you want to share between email addresses, phone numbers and more.

Also, say goodbye to relying on Notes to jot down your thoughts -- Journal is a new secure app for personal recollections . Apple is pitching it as a gratitude exercise, but iOS will auto-include activities like songs and workouts you've done to your personal log.

Apple Maps got an update that Android owners have had for years -- the ability to use Maps offline , especially helpful when you're outside network range while outdoors or conserving battery.

A new mode, StandBy, converts an iPhone to an alarm clock when it's charging and rotated horizontally. It gets smart interactions like a large visible clockface along with calendar and music controls.

Lastly, as was rumored, you won't have to say, "Hey Siri," anymore. Just saying "Siri" will bring up the voice assistant.

iPadOS 17 brings more controls to widgets, which don't just show more info at a glance -- they have more interactive buttons to let you control your smart home or play music.

iPadOS 17 is bringing more interactive personal data to the Health app, including richer sleep and activity visualization.

The next iPadOS update brings quality-of-life upgrades like more lock screen customization and multiple timers (helpful when cooking), as well as improvements to the follow-you-during-video-calls Stage Manager feature for iPad selfie cameras.

With all the screen space on an iPad, Apple expanded what you can do with PDFs, which can be autofilled and signed from within iPadOS. iPad owners can collaborate in real time while tweaking PDFs, and the files can now be stored in the Notes app.

macOS sonoma display

MacOS Sonoma

MacOS Sonoma , named after one of California's most famous wine-producing areas, continues the WWDC theme of adding more widget functionality.

Sonoma also has some gaming upgrades like a new gaming mode that prioritizes CPU and GPU to improve frame rate. Apple is paying attention to immersion with lower latency for wireless controllers and speakers or headsets. The company is also courting developers with game dev kits and Metal 3. But the biggest gaming announcement is that legendary game creator Hideo Kojima's opus Death Stranding is coming to Macs later this year. "We are actively working to bring our future titles to Apple platforms," Kojima said during the WWDC presentation.

On the business side, Mac has improved videoconferencing with an overlay that shows slide controls while you're presenting. Apple also introduced new reactions -- like ticker-tape falling for a congratulations -- that can be triggered with gestures.

PassKey, the end-to-end encrypted password chain tech Apple introduced last year, can now be shared with other contacts , and everyone included can edit and update passwords to be shared with the group.

Safari has security updates including locking the browser window when in private browsing mode, and profiles to separate accounts, logins and cookies between work and personal use.

AirPods and audio upgrades

Apple has a handful of improvements to its audio products. AirPods will get Adaptive Audio, which combines noise canceling with intelligent audio to drown out annoying background noise while letting through important sounds -- like car horns or bike bells. It'll also pass through voices in case someone starts a conversation in person.

And it's far easier to digitally take control of the music with SharePlay while somebody with CarPlay is driving -- a prompt will go out to others in the car asking if they want to take control.

Apps in watchOS 10

Apps in WatchOS 10 are getting a new look.

Yet again, widgets make an appearance with WatchOS 10 , the next operating system upgrade for Apple Watches. Widgets are now accessible in a stack from your home screen -- just use the digital crown to scroll between them.

Apple has focused on cycling this year, improving workouts by showing functional threshold data, an important metric for cyclists. It also connects over Bluetooth to sensors on bikes, and there's a new full-screen mode for iPhones that allows you to use it as a full screen while cycling.

Hikers, rejoice! WatchOS 10 has upgraded its compass with cellular connection waypoints, telling you which direction to walk and how far you have to go before you can get carrier reception. It also shows SOS waypoint spots, and shows elevation view in the 3D compass view. There's also a neat topographical view.

Apple is also expanding its Mindfulness app to log how you're feeling in State of Mind, choosing between color-coded emotional states. You can even access this from your iPhone in case you're away from your Apple Watch.

Health focuses for 2023

On top of the WatchOS Mindfulness updates, Apple introduced a neutral survey to self-report mood and mental health, which acts as a sort of non-medical way to indicate whether you may want to get professional help.

Apple also has a new cross-device Vision Health focus in the Health app, and a new feature on the Apple Watch measures daylight time spent outside to watch for myopia in younger wearers . Screen Distance uses the TrueDepth camera on iPads to warn people if they're too close to the screen.

Apple’s iPhone 15 Marks a New Era

Apple iPhone 15 Pro

Every new iPhone in the past few years may have felt like an iterative upgrade—slightly better camera here, slightly better performance there. But Apple's new iPhone 15 lineup is getting a few once-in-a-decade changes that make them stand out in a sea of visually similar iPhones. The company announced the new iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max at its annual September event in Cupertino, California. From the addition of USB-C to the removal of the ill-famed notch, here are all the top features of the new iPhone .

Closeup of the new USBC charging port on the Apple iPhone 15

There's a new port on every new iPhone. After 11 years of the Lightning charging port, its time has come to an end. Replacing it is USB-C , the reversible charging port that's available on Apple MacBooks , iPads , Android phones , Windows laptops , and many more types of devices across various categories. Often dubbed as the “universal connector,” its primary benefit here is that you can finally use the same cable to recharge most of your devices.

The new port also adds the capability for faster data transfer. However, for the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, Apple is limiting the data transfer speeds to the current 480 megabits per second. Upgrade to the iPhone 15 Pro models and you're able to unlock up to 10 Gigabits per second thanks to USB 3 support. The company is including a braided and color-matching USB-C to USB-C cable in the box, though this cable is limited to the baseline 480 Mbps transfer speeds. If you want to unlock the full potential of the Pro models, you'll need to buy your own capable cable .

Unfortunately, while USB-C could have opened the door to faster charging, Apple did not announce any improvement in charging speeds. On the company’s spec page, the official charging speed is still limited to 20 watts.

Apple has been adding USB-C to many of its own devices since 2015, but it has been collecting licensing fees for the Lightning port, which may partly be why the iPhone has been the longest holdout. However, last year the European Union ruled that USB-C must be on all new phones, tablets, and cameras by the end of 2024, and so here we are.

Along with USB-C, all four new iPhone models now have the Dynamic Island, which was first introduced and restricted to last year's iPhone 14 Pro models . This is the pill-shaped cutout at the top of the display housing the TrueDepth selfie camera. Gone is the notorious notch that debuted on the iPhone X . But the Dynamic Island, as its name suggests, is adaptive, almost acting like a second screen. If you're waiting for an Uber ride, the driver's arrival time will show up in the Dynamic Island. You can also see passive information from alarms, timers, flight information, and live sports game scores without ever having to hop into an app itself.

The 6.1-inch iPhone 15 and 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus retain the same size as their predecessors. They come in black, blue, green, yellow, and pink. Outside of the Dynamic Island and USB-C, these two models aren't too different.

Apple iPhone 15 smartphones in various colors arranged in a row

They still only have 60-Hz OLED screens when nearly every other phone at their price has smoother, more fluid 120-Hz refresh rate screens . They're powered by the A16 chipset, the very same that powered last year's iPhone 14 Pro models, and they're also stealing the 48-megapixel primary camera from the Pro, enabling them to capture more detail than ever before. The 12-megapixel ultrawide camera is largely the same. Apple, as usual, has announced improvements to its Photonic computational photography engine, so you should expect nicer photos overall, but time will tell.

Front and back of the Apple iPhone 15

Apple has saved many more of the upgrades for the Pro models to make them more worthy of the moniker. They are powered by the new A17 Pro chipset, which promises 10 percent faster performance cores, and a 2X faster neural engine.

Apple says the graphics processor unit is also the “biggest redesign in the history of Apple GPUs,” citing a 20 percent speed bump over its predecessor. Apple says this new GPU can create more detailed environments in mobile games while drawing less power, and it now has hardware-accelerated ray tracing , which is 4X faster. Because of all this, Apple says you can play console games like Resident Evil: Village on the iPhone 15 Pro, and games like the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage will have an iPhone version alongside console and PC versions. It'll be interesting to see how the fidelity of these AAA games matches up to their console counterparts.

Closeup of the titanium frame on the iPhone 15 Pro

Nice brushed finish.

You still get the 120-Hz ProMotion screen on the Pro, but Apple has refined the design to slim down the bezels around the display and, more importantly, added a titanium frame. Instead of stainless steel, the titanium 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max are now much lighter and more durable, which should make the latter easier to wield with one hand.

The big new camera change here is the addition of a periscope zoom camera exclusively for the iPhone 15 Pro Max model. This technology isn't new—Samsung famously has had a 10X optical zoom camera in its Galaxy Ultra phones for a few years, and last year's Google Pixel 7 Pro uses a 5X optical periscope zoom camera. Here, Apple says it enables 5X optical zoom, allowing you to capture subjects at a distance in high quality. The smaller iPhone 15 Pro is, sadly, still stuck at 3X zoom.

Closeup of a person's hand holding the iPhone 15 and displaying the new Action Button feature

Another exclusive for the Pro models is the Action Button. If this sounds familiar, it's the same name Apple gave to the extra customizable button on the Apple Watch Ultra , except on the iPhone, it's replacing the classic mute switch that has been on every iPhone since 2007. You can customize this button to trigger certain actions, like muting the phone, turning on the flashlight, or taking a photo with the camera open.

Apple placed an emphasis on sustainability throughout its September event and announced that it was moving away from leather cases and straps for its devices. It announced a new sustainable fabric material called FineWoven, and it declared that its going to be phasing out leather in favor of recycled and plant-based materials.

Apple FineWoven Cases on the iPhone 15 Pro smartphones

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus remain at the same price of $799 and $899, respectively. The iPhone 15 Pro stays at the same price of $999, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max is getting a price increase to $1,199, a $100 jump from their predecessors. However, you now get 256 GB of storage on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and this is the same price as the 256-GB iPhone 14 Pro Max. These phones will be up for preorder on Friday, September 15, and will officially launch on September 22. Stay tuned for our review soon.

Monthly container freight rate index worldwide 2023-2024.

Container freight rates oscillated dramatically between January 2023 and March 2024. Freight rates slumped to their lowest level on the 26th of October 2023, when the going rate for a 40-foot container was only 1,342 U.S. dollars. Since then, the global freight rate has gradually increased, hitting over 4,200 U.S. dollars in May 2024, the highest value on record.

The global supply chain is a fragile system consisting of numerous links. Disruption to one can send cascading effects down a chain that needs to function properly for the whole system to work. The COVID-19 pandemic turned out to be an event of such a magnitude to either bring to halt whole industries and supply chains, or severely reduce their efficiency. Due to its complexity and transcontinental nature,  container shipping was hit especially hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the start of the pandemic, the shipping industry has had to struggle with port closures and congestions, labor shortages, difficulties with capacity utilization, as well as a lack of new shipping containers. These challenges continue to have repercussions on the industry to this day.

While costs of operating a container fleet have increased, the surge in freight rates has not served just to cover rising expenses. Container ship operators had been reporting record-high operating profit margins since the beginning of the pandemic. However, despite these high profit margins, the freight rate increase has had some repercussions. In the second quarter of 2023, main container shipping companies had an average profit margin of 8.9 percent, a decrease of almost 50 percent compared to the peak EBIT in the first quarter of 2022. Despite this decrease, some of the carriers are combating this trend by using their previous profits to increase their carrying capacity by buying new containers and ordering new container ships . However, the delivery of these newly ordered ships is still years away.

Quarterly house price to income ratio australia 2018-2023.

The house price-to-income ratio in Australia was 120.2 as of the fourth quarter of 2023. This ratio, calculated by dividing nominal house prices by nominal disposable income per head, increased from the previous quarter. The price-to-income ratio can be used to measure housing affordability in a specific area. A similar trend was seen for the  house price-to-rent ratio in the same period. Property bubble There has been considerable debate over the past decade about whether Australia is in a property bubble or not. A property bubble refers to a sharp increase in the price of property that is disproportional to income and rental prices, followed by a decline. In Australia, rising house prices have undoubtedly been an issue for many potential homeowners. Along with the average house price, the average value of outstanding mortgages on residential dwellings has also continued to increase over the past 20 years. Housing affordability Housing affordability has varied across the different states and territories in Australia. In 2023, the median value of residential houses was the highest in Sydney compared to the other major Australian cities. Housing costs for Australian homeowners with a mortgage were around 15.5 percent of household income in financial year 2020. This share was higher for renters of private property in the same period.
