The pink mythical Pokémon Diancie is available to all players via this Special Research

Pokémon Go has distributed a Special Research set, “ Glitz and Glam ,” that rewards the mythical Pokémon Diancie to all who complete at least four steps of it. Finishing the whole thing will give you Mega Energy to Mega Evolve Diancie.

The steps for this Special Research aren’t anything too difficult — it’s mostly stuff that will complete automatically just from playing the game. Along the way, you’ll get Pokémon encounters and other rewards, none of which are too shabby for a free research set. (Hello, free Lucky Egg!)

Below, we explain all the “Glitz and Glam” Special Research steps to unlock Diancie.

Niantic is making one of Pokémon Go’s rarest Pokémon free for all players with new Special Research. This will let anyone encounter the Mythical Diancie, if they’re willing to put in work—and haven’t already caught one.

Starting in May, the Glitz and Glam Special Research story is free for all Pokémon Go players and will let anyone encounter the Mythical Diancie . Diancie was previously only available via paid research during Go Fest 2023 but now it is free to everyone, with one major restriction. There is also Field Research related to the Jewel Pokémon for a very limited time as part of this celebratory rollout as Pokémon Go gears up for Go Fest 2024 .

How to get a free Diancie in Pokémon Go : Glitz and Glam Special Research guide, tasks, and rewards

The Pokémon Go Glitz and Glam Special Research story is available to claim for free starting on May 1 at 10am local time . This research does not expire and will net you an encounter with the Mythical Pokémon Diancie, but only if you haven’t caught one already . 

This research almost acts as a rework of the Go Fest 2023 option that ticketed players first completed to get Diancie when it debuted. The focus is on Diancie and its Mega Energy , along with Fairy and Rock-type Pokémon. If you already caught a Diancie in Go Fest 2023, you’ll not get a second encounter . Instead, you’ll get more Mega Energy.

Diancie Glitz and Glam Special Research Story

Diancie's return to Pokemon GO with the Glitz and Glam Special Research involves a series of tasks divided into six parts. The six-part  Glitz and Glam Special Research was made available globally for free starting May 1, 2024.

If you are intent on getting yourself a Diancie in Pokemon GO, here are the series of tasks you have to complete in the Glitz and Glam Special Research Story.

Glitz and Glam (1/6)

The first set of tasks in the Glitz and Glam Special Research is pretty easy. It just involves spinning PokeStops or gyms and catching and powering up Pokemon. Here are more details regarding the first set of tasks:

Completing the first set of the Diancie Glitz and Glam Pokemon GO Special Research Story rewards players with 2,000 XP, three Lure Modules, and an encounter with Roggenrola that can be shiny.

Glitz and Glam (2/6)

The difficulty level of the special research tasks slightly increases in the second set of tasks for the Glitz and Glam Special Research. These might be tedious but here are the details of the second set of Glitz and Glam Special Research tasks:

Completing the second set of tasks of the Diancie Glitz and Glam Pokemon GO Special Research Story rewards players with 2,000 XP, one Incense, and an encounter with Sableye that can be shiny.

Glitz and Glam (3/6)

The difficulty level in the third batch of tasks in the Glitz and Glam Special Research remains the same. Thus, the following tasks won't break any sweat to complete.

Completing the third set of tasks of the Diancie Glitz and Glam Pokemon GO Special Research Story rewards players with 2,000 XP, one Lucky Egg, and an encounter with Carbink.

Glitz and Glam (4/6)

Just like the previous batches, the following tasks in the fourth set of the Glitz and Glam Special Research should be easy especially since you've progressed this far already.

Completing the fourth set of tasks of the Diancie Glitz and Glam Pokemon GO Special Research Story rewards players with 2,000 XP, 2,000 Stardust, and an encounter with Diancie.

However, if you were able to get a Diancie during the GO Fest 2023's exclusive special research then the supposed encounter becomes Diancie Candy instead.

Glitz and Glam (5/6)

The fifth set of tasks in the Glitz and Glam Special Research requires quite a lot of resources to complete. Given that the previous tasks had players grinding, these tasks should be relatively quick to finish.

Completing the fifth set of tasks of the Diancie Glitz and Glam Pokemon GO Special Research Story rewards players with 2,000 XP. 3× Golden Razz Berries, and 3× Diancie Mega Energy.

Glitz and Glam (6/6)

Every last set of tasks in special research stories is usually just freebies, and the Glitz and Glam Special Research is no exception to that!

Completing the final set of tasks of the Diancie Glitz and Glam Pokemon GO Special Research Story rewards players with yet another 2,000 XP along with some Mega Diancie Stickers

Fascinating Facets is a special research quest exclusive to Go Fest Global 2023 ticket holders which offers you the chance to catch Diancie in Pokémon Go .

If you want to unlock Fascinating Facets, you first need to purchase a Go Fest Global 2023 ticket (if you haven't done so already) and then log into Pokémon Go at least once during the event hours of 10am to 6pm (local time) on Saturday 26th August and Sunday 27th August.

After doing so, the special research quest will be yours and you can start working your way towards catching Diancie!

'Fascinating Facets' quest steps in Pokémon Go

Fascinating Facets is a special research quest exclusive to ticketed players during the Go Fest Global 2023 event in Pokémon Go.

To unlock this quest, you must log into Pokémon Go at least once during the Go Fest 2023 event hours of 10am to 6pm (local time) on Saturday 26th August and Sunday 27th August . We recommend unlocking it on Saturday 26th August and a second special research quest, which is available to all players, will be released on Day Two of the event.

Once you've unlocked Fascinating Facets, however, you can complete it at whatever pace you like since it's a special research quest and therefore doesn't have a deadline. You can even complete it after Go Fest Global 2023 ends!

Keep in mind that, if you've attended one of the in-person Go Fest 2023 events in London, Osaka or New York, you will recieve Diancie Candy instead of an additional Diancie encounter.

How to get Mega Diancie in Pokémon Go

Your first question after catching Diancie in Pokémon Go will most likely be - how do I conduct its Mega Evolution ? (Well, after you've checked its stats.)

The answer to this question is that you'll need 300 Mega Diancie Energy .

Yet, since Mega Diancie isn't appearing in Mega Raids, how will you collect this Mega Energy?

Thankfully, as you might have seen above, the Fascinating Facets special research quest offers you the chance to earn enough Mega Energy by completing its various challenges.

If you need more, however, you can earn additional Mega Diancie Energy by defeating Carbink in two-raids during the Go Fest 2023 event. Once you've Mega Evolved Diancie once, you'll also be able to collect Mega Energy by walking with the Pokémon as your buddy .

Having Mega Diancie active will, like all Mega Evolutions, give you access to a variety of bonuses, such as increasing the attack power of both Rock and Fairy-type Pokémon in raids.

How does Fascinating Facets work during Go Fest 2023 in Pokémon Go

Fascinating Facets is a special research quest exclusive to players who brought a Go Fest Global 2023 ticket in Pokémon Go. If this is the case for you, then you need to log into Pokémon at least during the event hours of this weekend long celebration.

Go Fest Global 2023 is running on Saturday 26th August and Sunday 27th August between 10am to 6pm (local hours) . We recommend unlocking Fascinating Facets on Saturday 26th August as it is part of the Day One activities for Go Fest 2023 and there is a second special research being released on Day Two.

Remember - you must have a Go Fest Global 2023 ticket to access this special research quest. Like past mythical Pokémon released during Go Fest events, like Shaymin , Diancie will eventually become available via a free-to-play special research quest, but, at the time of writing, we don't know when this will be released.

If you're a free-to-play player and don't want to wait for that quest, then you can always purchase a Go Fest 2023 ticket during the event itself.

Meanwhile, if you attended one of the in-person Go Fest 2023 events at either London, Osaka or New York, you will recieve Diancie Candy rather than an additional encounter with the mythical Pokémon.

How To Get Diancie In Pokemon GO: Glitz and Glam Special Research Tasks (May 2024)

Pokemon GO doesn’t often give away Legendary or Mythical Pokemon, and it’s always a delight when Niantic announces a Mythical like Diancie will be available to capture. What’s better is that Diancie will be free to all Pokemon GO players starting in May of 2024.

How To Claim Free Diancie Research in Pokemon GO

Diancie will be available to all players for free starting on May 1, but only to those who complete the Special Research. In order to claim the free Diancie Special Research, players must log in to Pokemon GO after May 1, 2024. This will automatically trigger the dialogue that grants all players access to the Special Research questline.

Does Diancie Special Research Expire?

Once you have the research claimed, it will not expire. You can complete the Special Research tasks as slowly or fast (as long as there aren’t any time-gates quests) as you want.

That said, there is a window of time in which you have to log in, or you will miss the chance to claim the special research. We don’t know what that window of time is, but we do know the event to mark the launch of the research lasts until May 3. Players will likely be able to claim the research after the 3rd, but you might want to log in on May 1 just to be safe.

PvE Analysis

Regular Diancie isn't exactly useful for much; its low Attack stat makes it a pretty bad raid attacker in general. What it does offer, though, is a powerful Mega Evolution, so make sure you Mega Evolve your Diancie if you wish to leave an impact in raids with it.

It has an unreleased signature move called Diamond Storm, but its parameters would have to be incredibly absurd to make Diancie worth running as a Rock attacker in general.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Rock Throw and Rock Slide is Diancie's optimal set.

• Power Gem is outclassed by Rock Slide
• Moonblast is a bad move in PvE and Diancie does not get a Fairy Fast Attack to even think about being a Fairy attacker

PvP Analysis

Rock Throw provides significantly higher damage than Tackle , but comes at a slightly smaller energy gain.

Rock Slide is Diancie's cheapest Charged Attack and benefits from STAB. Moonblast also benefits from STAB and offers coverage against Fighting-type Pokemon; it is Diancie 's strongest Charged Attack. Power Gem is outclassed by Rock Slide.

Pokemon GO Triumph Together Valor Collection Challenge Timed Research: Tasks and rewards

The Pokemon GO Triumph Together Valor Collection Challenge Timed Research is now live, with trainers worldwide completing the task of defeating 75,000,000 Team GO Rocket members. The provided questline has one step with two different tasks. Completing them will net players Stardust, XP, and an encounter with a Candela-themed Ponyta.

Triumph Together runs in Pokemon GO from Friday, August 23, 2024, at 3 pm PDT to Friday, August 30, 2024, at 3 pm PDT . Triumph Together Timed Research: Fight with Valor - Step 1 of 1

• Defeat 1 Team GO Rocket member - 5x Hyper Potion
• Defeat 2 Team GO Rocket members - 5x Revive
• Rewards: Candela-themed Ponyta encounter, 10,000 XP, 5,000 Stardust

With the Valor part completed, trainers are currently tackling the Instinct (Yellow team) Global Challenge. The task at hand is hatching 20,000,000 eggs. While it surely is a steep climb, it remains to be seen how long the global community will take to complete it. The final challenge is the Mystic (Blue Team) Global Challenge, where trainers will be tasked with completing 35,000,000 Field Research tasks.

As August 2024 draws to an end, we inch towards the end of Season of Shared Skies. Recently, Niantic officially confirmed the next season’s title - Max Out , along with the Galarian Starter debut and Dynamax mechanic introduction teaser. The remaining few days of this month will likely see further teasers followed by official announcements with details about Max Out seasonal highlights, research, rotation, and more.

• Pokemon GO introduces Dynamax Pokemon & Special Research in Max Out season to keep players engaged with new tasks, showcases, & avatar items.
• From September 10-15, players can catch Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet, & Wooloo in Dynamax battles with chances for Shiny encounters.
• Special Research tasks focus on Max Battles, offering players opportunities to earn Max Particles & a Dynamax Band avatar item, along with bonuses.

Pokemon GO has officially unveiled Dynamax Pokemon and new Special Research coming to the game. The additions are part of Pokemon GO 's Max Out season, which will give players new Field Research Tasks, PokeStop Showcases, and a new avatar item.

With Pokemon GO having been available for mobile phones for over 8 years now, the game has to continually update itself in order to keep players engaged. This is a tricky task for developers at Niantic, as they can't include everything from the most recent mainline Pokemon games all at once, or the mobile title will run out of material and stagnate. As a result, certain unique elements like Dynamax Pokemon haven't previously been available in the game, but that's going to change shortly.

Pokemon GO players are discovering the opportunity to catch free Ultra Beasts are waiting for them in the game, sparking excitement.

Pokemon GO has now revealed which Pokemon will qualify for Dynamax, and the Special Research that will be waiting for players. Starting on September 10 at 10 am and running until September 15 at 8 pm local time, the game will premiere 1-star Max Battles. Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet, and Wooloo will be making their Pokemon GO Dynamax debut . Pokemon caught from Max Battle encounters can be Dynamaxed in Max Battles, as can their evolved forms. There's also a chance for these encounters to be Shiny.

Pokemon GO Max Out Special Research and More

The new Special Research will be added to the game earlier, and can be claimed anytime between September 3 at 10 am to December 3 at 9:59 am local time. These tasks will be focused on Max Battles, giving players an opportunity to earn Max Particles and a Dynamax Band avatar item. The event will also offer players bonuses for select activities, including 2x XP for winning a Max Battle and 2x XP for spining PokeStops.

Event Field Research will also be available, giving players a chance to encounter the same Pokemon that are getting their Dynamax forms in Max Battles. These encounters also come with a chance for the Pokemon to be Shiny. PokeStop Showcases will give players the chance to enter event-themed Pokemon. Lastly, the shop will be adding a Max Particle Pack Bundle containing 4,800 Max Particles for $7.99, starting on September 8 at 6 pm PDT.

For now, there's no further details on when Gigantamax will be coming to Pokemon GO . Fans will have to wait and see on that, but Dynamax should give players plenty to look forward to in the near future.

GO Fest 2023 brings Diancie, special Habitats and Incense Spawns, 10 new Shiny Pokémon, Sigilyph, exclamation Unown, and a ton more. We hope you are ready to digest all of this – we weren't!

Pokémon GO Fest 2023 is right around the corner and we’ve just received brand-new information for the global event, and for the each respected region, including spawns, shines, bonuses, rewards and more!

If you’re participating at one of the IRL locations or even playing globally, you will want to pay attention to the following details so that you don’t miss out on any crucial information, we’ve got you covered.

Here’s your quick reminder for the date of each GO Fest 2023 event:

• London & Osaka: August 4-6, 2023
• New York City: August 18-20, 2023
• Global event: August 26-27, 2023

Diancie debuts at GO Fest 2023

After its appearance in London, Osaka, and New York City, the Mythical Pokémon Diancie will make its global debut during the first day of Pokémon GO Fest 2023: Global.

Ticket-holding Trainers will be able to complete exclusive Special Research to learn more about the Jewel Pokémon-and get an opportunity to encounter it!

Diancie will debut at GO Fest 2023 and is a dual-type Rock / Fairy Mythical Pokémon introduced in Generation VI . Diancie has the ability to Mega Evolve, however, this will most likely be a feature for a later date.

Diancie will be available for Ticket Holders on all GO Fest events.With that being said, let’s move on to all the juicy details including all the dates, news, features, spawns, habitats, new shinies, and more.

Pokémon GO Fest 2023: Global Details

Trainers, attention! At the Pokémon GO Fest 2023 Global event , there will be more than 70 Pokémon featured across four rotating habitats . As one can expect, each habitat will have themed Field Research tasks, a special version of a costumed Pikachu, and select Pokémon attracted to it!

Here are the bonuses you can expect during GO Fest 2023 Global event:

Global habitats and new shiny Pokémon

During the event, there will be four habitats available in the form of rotating habitats. Do note that these habitats will be active only on the first day of the event, and the Pokémon found in these habitats will be available on second day as well:

All Pokémon that appeared in the wild during the first day of the event will also appear during event hours on the second day. There are no rotating habitat hours on the second day, so these Pokémon may appear at any time!

In addition to this, 5 new shiny Pokémon will be making their Pokémon GO debut: Goomy, Oranguru, Shellos West Sea, Shellos East Sea, and Joltik.

Remote Raid Limit increase and new Unown letters

During the Pokémon GO Fest 2023 Global event, the Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 per day .

Unown encountered during the GO Fest 2023 Global event will spell out the word DIAMOND :

Over 70 Pokémon featured, the rotating habitats, themed Field Research, increase in Remote Raids limit, and new shiny Pokémon will be available to everyone, regardless of ticket status.

Ticket-holder Exclusive Bonuses

The following bonuses will be available to Ticket holders during the Pokémon GO Fest 2023 Global event , on top of the existing bonuses which are available for everyone:

• Special Research story featuring Diancie
• Incense-exclusive Pokémon encounters
• Increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon
• Up to nine Raid Passes from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms each day
• Special 7 km Eggs
• Up to six Special Trades can be made each day

In addition to the bonuses listed above, each Trainer can decide if they want to improve their in-game experience in the lead up to GO Fest by preordering Tickets earlier.

Pokémon GO Fest In-person Events

With the global GO Fest details out of the way, it is time to dive into the details of each and every real-world event. Before we dive any deeper, here are the things that you can expect in London, Osaka, and New York.

Diancie, Sigilyph, Unown

Diancie will be featured at all three real-world events, as the hero Mythical for this year’s GO Fest event cycle. A lot of you already figured that one out, given the diamonds on this year’s GO Fest logo. We now have official confirmation for Diancie, but also for the Regional Pokémon that will be spawning at each of the GO Fest venues: Sigilyph!

That’s right, the ancient hieroglyph-looking bird will be available at London, Osaka and New York, accompanied with – of course – Unown. The Unown letters available at the in-person events will spell out DIAMOND! with the exclamation mark Unown making its appearance.

Attendees will be able to enjoy the following Gameplay additions at each location on their ticketed day:

Pokémon GO Fest 2023: London takes place at Brockwell Park (South of Central London), from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. The in-person gameplay will be split between playing at the park, and playing in the greater London area.

Morning Park Session will be available from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, and Afternoon Park Session from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm. An intermission will take place from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm to allow Morning Session Trainers to leave the park.

GO Fest 2023 is shaping up to be an unmissable event, with this newly released information, we can see why trainers would be looking forward to this exclusive once-a-year occasion. No matter which part of the world you will be playing from, you can reap the benefits and rack up some amazing new shinies along with the mythical Pokémon, Diancie.

I personally will be attending GO Fest in Yokohama which is one week prior to the 2023 Pokémon GO World Championships which I will be competing in. Words cannot describe how excited I personally am for the month of August.

Meeting up with trainers all around the world, competing in the competition of a lifetime and experiencing all the wonders Japan has to offer is something I am truly thankful for and will be documenting my entire experience in a future article.
