What are the best wireless presentation remotes for PC? These are.

top 10 presentation controller

If you're giving a big presentation, the ability to move and interact more with your audience is incredibly valuable. If you have to awkwardly stand up behind your laptop the whole time, it's nowhere near as engaging.

You need a reliable presentation remote that connects easily and travels well. Here are our recommendations for the best options for PCs.

Satechi Bluetooth Smart Pointer

Satechi

I work for a well-traveled magician on the side, and we never go anywhere without our Satechi Bluetooth Smart Pointers. He's gone through three brands, and Satechi has always stood out as the best. The remote connects via Bluetooth and has a fantastic range. (We've generally had great luck between 20 and 30 feet).

If you're clicking through a slideshow and need to go back to a specific slide, there's a handy number pad hidden behind a little slide-out door. If you enter the number of the slide, it'll go back for you, which is incredibly handy when music misfires for a magic trick and you need to try to recapture the wonder.

My whole show rides on my presentation triggering properly, and the Satechi remote has been the only one I've used that works every time — Chris Funk, The Wonderist

You can also control music playback, skip tracks and slides, and control the volume of your device, so you don't need to be anywhere near your computer to do what you need to. These remotes are $45 on Amazon and come in black or silver.

The Logitech R800 features a bright green laser pointer that's easy to see in any room, and the USB wireless receiver should allay any worries you might feel using a Bluetooth remote. With a 100-foot range, you're free to move about as you please without worrying about losing your connection.

The R800 has an LCD display that features a timer, which delivers silent vibrational alerts, so you can keep track of time without having to disengage from your audience. The large buttons are easy to navigate without having to look, and you'll get solid battery life from just two AAA batteries. Pricing starts around $50.

Doosl

Doosl's presentation remote is a little thicker than a pen, but it'll still fit comfortably in your pocket, and its hook helps it stay in place so you always know where it is. It features a laser pointer, so you can get the whole room focused on what matters, and it has great page-up and page-down support, as well as play, pause, and black screen controls for PowerPoint presentations.

The universal receiver means you can just plug in and go — no driver or pairing is required. Just in case you forget to turn off your Doosl, it features auto standby and "deep sleep" modes to conserve battery. Pricing starts at only $15.

Kensington

Kensington's $30-ish wireless presenter is designed to be ergonomic, with a comfortable in-hand feel and a simple button layout that allows you to switch back and forth between slides and use the laser pointer without needing to constantly look down at your hand.

The mini USB receiver fits in the remote's housing, so it never gets lost, and you don't need to pair the remote with your computer or install a driver — just plug it in and away you go. The receiver has a 60-foot range, so you'll be able to move about the room with confidence, knowing you'll stay connected.

DinoFire

Aside from its wicked cool name, the DinoFire presentation remote is an awesome, pen-sized device that uses an RF receiver to communicate with your computer. It can control PowerPoint, the whole iWork suite, Word, and Excel, so if you're giving any sort of business presentation, you're covered. And at only around $14, you can grab a couple for the road.

This remote runs on one AAA battery, and that's either convenient because you don't need to remember to charge it, or it's a little inconvenient because you can't just recharge it on the go. The RF receiver has a 98-foot range, so whether you're in a conference room or an auditorium, you're connected and in control.

top 10 presentation controller

This wireless presentation remote features a USB receiver, a 39-foot range, and an excellent button layout for presentations where full engagement is key. The forward and back buttons are defined by raised bumps, so you know exactly which way your presentation is going at all times. There's also a blackout mode, so you can cut to black at the end or while you prepare your presentation.

For $15, this remote isn't exactly feature-rich, but according to its Amazon reviews , it's reliable and a great minimalist option. It supports the Office suite, and it has a red laser pointer. And it takes one AAA battery.

Guide to the Best Wireless Presenters (Presentation Remotes) for 2023

Photo of author

In both the corporate and educational world, giving presentations is an important part of life. Anything that can help your presentation go smoothly can have a positive effect on your career. Luckily, there’s plenty of technology out there that can help you out in this area. Digital projectors are clearer and easier to see than the models we had available only a few short years ago, and most can now integrate with remote controllers.

Your typical remote controller is nothing more than a button that allows you to advance to the next slide. But there are a few models out there that offer much more control than this. You can start and stop multimedia, go back to a previous slide, or even use a laser pointer to draw attention to specific parts of your presentation. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at the three best presentation remotes on the market.

Canon PR10-G Wireless Presentation Remote

Whether you’re looking for the latest photo gear, a high-quality printer, or powerful business technology, Canon is an excellent choice. They’ve been manufacturing presentation remotes for quite some time now, but the PR10-G is the latest in modern presentation technology.

Canon PR10-G

The Canon PR10-G Wireless Presentation Remote is easy to hold in the hand, but built to withstand a lot of use and abuse. It’s made from injection molded plastic, tastefully designed with a lightly textured pattern that makes it both resistant to scratches and easy to hold. Right where your thumb rests are the easy to push buttons. They use rubber dome actuators that provide a firmer press but won’t wear out with time. At the top you’ve got a handy LCD display. This screen can be used for a variety of reasons. Most people will use it for timing your presentations.

I’m sure we all know how important this is. When rehearsing, it’s easy to set a timeline and stick to it. But once you get in front of people, you find that you’re either spending too much time on one topic, or rushing through the presentation quicker than you expected. With the timer, you’ll be able to find out where you are at with just a quick glance at the face of the display. You can also use the timer to keep track of where you are at in your presentation if you’ve integrated it with video or audio media.

Canon PR10-G

Perhaps the most important feature of any wireless presenter is the control layout. This is one of the many areas where the Canon model really excels. At the top, you’ve got the large button that turns the laser pointer on or off. A partial press will keep the light on as long as it’s held down. But if you depress it all the way, the laser will stay on until pressed a second time.

Below that you’ve got the typical forward and backwards buttons. Below each of those, there are two unique buttons you might not have seen before. The first is the “expand” button. This can be used with both PowerPoint or Keynote to blow up an image, video, or diagram to full size. Press it again to return to the standard size. On the right, you’ve got the start / stop button that can trigger playback of multimedia.

Canon PR10-G

Compatibility

The Canon PR10-G is designed to work straight out of the box with Apple’s Keynote or Microsoft’s PowerPoint. You won’t need to go through any complicated setup procedure, just unpack it and start using it.

The biggest issue with compatibility is range. Presentation remotes often have to choose between standard Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi direct. Bluetooth is the most compatible of all standards, but suffers from short range. Wi-Fi direct works only with modern devices, but supports a longer range. Canon found a creative solution for this problem. Their remote comes bundled with a high-powered Bluetooth transceiver that plugs into the USB port on any Mac or Windows computer. This allows them to use a higher-powered setting that isn’t supported by all devices. The end result is a huge 100-foot range, allowing the remote to be used in even the largest presentation rooms.

Even without drivers, the presentation remote can be used with any Windows computer from Vista SP2 and up. This means that Windows 7, 8, and 10 all work out of the box. Mac OS 10.5 and up are supported, meaning that the remote will work with any Intel based Mac released in the last 11 years.

Canon PR10-G

The stand out feature of this remote is the powerful green laser. This laser pointer might look a little different from the standard red ones, but it’s up to 8 times brighter than the red wavelength. This means that even in the brightest most well-illuminated room, you’ll have no problem drawing attention to the most important parts of your presentation.

Another great feature of canons presentation remote is the vibration feature. You can easily set notifications at various points throughout your presentations to help keep you on track. It will automatically vibrate one, five, or ten minutes before the end to remind you to wrap things up. You can also set the timer to vibrate at any other point, as needed.

Kensington Wireless Presenter

If the name rings a bell, it’s because Kensington is known primarily for their high-quality laptop security devices. The Kensington lock is generally accepted as being one of the locks on the market. Their remote presenter goes hand in hand with these locks, as you’ll often want to keep your notebook safe while you give your presentation.

Kensington Wireless Presenter

The incredibly compact Kensington Wireless Presenter is designed to be simple and easy to use. While it’s not the most attractive of the bunch, you might be surprised to learn that it’s actually very comfortable to hold in the hand. Its strong curves fit with the curves of your hand, meaning that you’re not going to get uncomfortable even when you’re using it for long periods of time. Aside from the four buttons on the face, there isn’t really a whole lot of extras on this presentation remote. But the one thing we did really like was the USB port on the bottom. This can be used to charge the remote, but also provides a handy storage space for the USB receiver when not in use.

Kensington Wireless Presenter

The control scheme with this remote is simple, but still highly effective. The two buttons that you’ll use the most, the forward and backward buttons, are located on either side of the main section. On the opposite orientation, you’ve got the play and stop buttons. The main difference between this button and some of the more advanced models is that each one serves a single purpose.

Kensington Wireless Presenter

For example, Canon combined the play and stop buttons. If your media is currently playing, then the button will stop it, and vice versa. But this can create confusion in presentations where there are multiple media types, or if you change slides without stopping the previous media. To avoid any awkward mistakes, many presenters will prefer this simple control scheme.

Kensington Wireless Presenter

The Kensington Wireless Presenter decided to go for a high bandwidth method of communication to offer solid range without dropouts. Running on the 2.4 Ghz frequency, it requires that a USB dongle be used with your computer. This transceiver can be used with Windows 7, 8, and 10 PCs. It can also work with OSX systems from 10.6 and up. It works with Microsoft PowerPoint out of the box, but the drivers allow you to map the buttons to the keyboard. With a few quick clicks, you can set it up to control any presentation software you like.

Logitech R800 Professional Presenter

We’ve reviewed Logitech’s accessories many times before, and not once have we come across one that disappoints us. While their professional wireless presenter is much larger than some, the impressive range of included features makes this presenter just as powerful as it is large.

Logitech Professional Presenter R800

The Logitech R800 Professional Presenter is ergonomically designed to be comfortable to hold in the hand, and keeps all of your most important features easily accessible from the face. But aside from the standard controls, you’ve got access to a powerful LCD display on the face that performs much of the same features as the Canon model. It can help you keep track of how long you’ve bene presenting for, how long you’ve spent on a particular slide, or show you a countdown to a specific time.

Logitech Professional Presenter R800

The controls are quite similar to those on the Canon. You’ve got the forward and backward buttons for navigating between slides, the full screen button for expanding visual aids, and the play button to start and stop embedded media. But the unique feature on this remote is the programmable button located just below the display. You can configure this button to set any particular element you like, giving you a little more control over your presentation.

Logitech Professional Presenter R800

This wireless remote presenter is compatible with a wide range of Windows PCs, starting from Windows 7 and going up to the latest release of Windows 10. It uses the same wireless technology as the Cannon, requiring a dongle but giving you up to 100 ft (30 meters) of range.

Logitech Professional Presenter R800

The Logitech R800 Professional Presenter has a couple of features we’ve seen before, but are happy to see included. It’s got the timed vibration feature, which we found to be a little easier to use than the Canon model. The timer is set from the included features, and gives you a ton of control over how and when the timer goes off. You can set different types of vibrations for different alarms. For example, short pulses can signify an impending time limit, or long ones can remind you to move on to the next slide.

Another great feature of this remote is the same high powered green laser pointer we liked so much. Once you use such a bright pointer it’s unlikely that you’ll want to go back to the basic model.

Which Wireless Remote Presenter is Right for Me?

Not sure which one is right for your business? For most users, we’re recommend the Canon PR10-G . This remote is fully compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems, and gives you plentiful controls and a powerful laser.

You might also want to consider the Logitech R800 Professional Presenter . This model adds a powerful timing system that lets you make the most of the built-in vibration feature.

Finally, there will be a few people who just need something simple for their presentations. In this case, you can’t go wrong with the Kensington Wireless Presenter . It’s affordable, easy to use, and reliable. If this is all you need, there is no sense is spending money on a high-end model.

2 thoughts on “Guide to the Best Wireless Presenters (Presentation Remotes) for 2023”

I am seeking a presenter which is compatible with Corel software on a PC running Windows 10. I will appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thank you.

Thank you for the great reviews. I am currently using a Kensington Presenter Pro that has been good for me for quite some time now. I like the size and the button layouts; the range is wonderful; and the green laser is plenty bright. That all said, the one thing that drives me mad is the clicking sounds of the buttons. How on earth did the design team feel this was okay. During a quiet part of a presentation when I’m not talking, but still advancing slides, this is completely distracting.

You did not happen to mention if any of these above have silent ‘soft touch’ buttons. I think the Canon might, but not sure. Can you please confirm which ones do and which ones don’t.

Thank you. Cheers! Kevin

FAQ about Best Presenter Remotes

Best presentation remotes: conclusion, best presentation clicker - buyer's guide.

Drawing from my experience before making a purchase, it's important to consider a few key features that can make a difference in your presentation. Here's what to look for when choosing a presentation remote:

Presenter controls work with either replaceable batteries or a built-in rechargeable battery. I can not say which is better, because in both cases there are pros and cons. If you have opted for the battery version, then I recommend using either high-quality batteries, or replaceable rechargeable batteries of sufficient capacity.

Also, if you use the remote control with one battery long enough, keep a spare one handy just in case. The problem of changing batteries can be solved by purchasing a presenter with a built-in battery. These units are often charged via a standard micro USB input when connected to a laptop, PC, PowerBank or 220V AC adapter.

Another important factor when choosing a remote for presentations is the operating distance of the presenter itself from the mini USB receiver during the presentation. Also, it is necessary to consider visible obstacles in the signal path (walls, grills, doors, etc.)

There are models with the working distance to the receiver should not exceed 10-15 meters (32-49ft.), but there are models with a much greater operating distance, which reaches up to 100 meters ( 328ft.)! Therefore, when selecting a presenter it is necessary to pay special attention to this important technical characteristic and to be guided by the size of audience which you will have to work with. For example, Kensington Wireless Presenter  with 65 Ft/ 20 Meters or range or Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote  with 90-100 Ft/30 Meters.

Compatibility

Next important point when choosing a presenter is its ability to connect to different operating systems (OS). So, for example, cheaper and less functional models of clickers can only work on operating systems such as Windows and Linux, but will not work on Mac OS. Accordingly, there are more versatile models of presenters that work on Windows, Android, Linux and, of course, MacOS. Note that most of the modern low-cost remotes, and those that are more expensive, do not need to install drivers, and work on the Plug and Play basis.

best presentation remote 2024

Depending on the functionality, different presenters are equipped with different sets of buttons, joysticks and switches. There are models that are equipped with LCD displays that can display the time, battery level, countdown timer, the quality level of radio signal reception, etc.

With the above-mentioned buttons and switches you can control your presentation - switch slides forward and backward, navigate through the presentation menu and system guide, adjust the system volume, make graphic notes directly on the slide with a simple hand movement, and so on. Accordingly, you should understand that the cost of a particular presenter will depend on the kind of the above-listed features the device will have.

An undeniable advantage of modern remote controls for presentations is a built-in laser pointer. This option allows you to make your presentation even more interactive and understandable for the audience. With a laser pointer you can focus the audience's attention on specific details from a considerable distance (up to 300 feet / 100 meters) from the portable presentation screen .

Often manufacturers use a red laser for this purpose because it is most visible to the human eye and attracts more attention. However, the green laser is gaining in popularity.

Laser Pointers

Many wireless presenters come with built-in laser pointers. If you plan on using your remote to point out details in your presentation, make sure the laser pointer is bright and easy to see.

Battery Life

Make sure the battery life is sufficient for your presentation needs. Most remotes run on AAA batteries, but some models have rechargeable batteries that can be charged via USB.

Kensington Expert Wireless Presenter with Green Laser

Logitech R800 Presentation Clicker Remote

Best Presenter Timer

Logitech R800 bluetooth presenters

The Logitech R800 is a high-quality, functional device. You can fully learn how to work with it in a couple of minutes. The perfect-looking non-slip plastic case and ergonomic shape make the presenter a pleasure to hold.

The designers have implemented an important feature for many speakers - a timer. 5 and 2 minutes before the end of the time, the device vibrates softly in your hand.

The next cool feature of the device is the green color of the laser pointer instead of red, which adds more positive to the presentation. The wireless receiver, which needs to be plugged into the PC, is surprisingly large, the size of a standard USB flash drive. When carrying it, it fits comfortably into the speaker's case - the case has a hole for it, making it difficult to leave it in the computer.

The device works simply only with Windows. Working on MAC OS X requires some effort. The "Forward" and "Back" buttons on the presenter repeat the functionality of the PageUP and PageDown keys on the keyboard. This means that the presenter can switch not only slides in PowerPoint, but also any other content in any other Windows program. Logitech works up to 100 feet (30 meters) away from the recipient.

  • The green laser pointer is powerful enough even for LCD displays
  • A built-in LCD display with smart timer integrated to let you manage your time with silent, vibrating alerts
  • With a range of up to 100 feet (30 meters), you can enjoy the freedom to move around big venues
  • The battery is discharged significantly when you are using the laser pointer
  • Working on MAC OS X will require some efforts

Summary:  The Logitech R800 is a high quality, functional device with a non-slip plastic body and ergonomic shape. It works up to 100 feet (30 meters) away from the recipient. It has a timer function and a green laser pointer color. Works with Windows only. It can switch not only slides in PowerPoint, but also any content in any other Windows program.

How Does the Presenter Remote Work? - the Basics in Brief

best presenter remotes review 2024

A presentation pointer is a remote control for a PC or projector combined with a laser pointer. It is often referred to as a presenter clicker or powerpoint clicker. Communication between the clicker and the laptop is via radio channel or Bluetooth. For this purpose, a compact (smaller than a flash drive) receiver is attached to the clicker, connected to the PC via a USB slot.

To initiate the presenter, it is enough to press the button on its body. The computer detects the clicker as a USB-keyboard. There is no problem with installing drivers and additional applications, they are not needed. The body of the clicker has, besides the general switch, buttons for turning the laser pointer on and off, for changing slides in any order, and for replacing them with coloured fields.

All best presenters, or as they are also referred to: best presenter clickers, best powerpoint clickers or best presentation pointers, are designed to optimise and simplify the process of giving presentations.

How is the Presenter Connected?

Let's move on. The presenter is connected to a laptop or PC wirelessly, through a radio channel via a wireless mini USB receiver, which is supplied with the device. Often the USB-receiver is hidden in the case of the presenter, so that it is convenient to store it and not to lose it during transportation. The receiver is connected to a standard USB input on a laptop or PC, and not to the projector as some people mistakenly think. The projector in this case only projects images (slides, video) on a special screen or wall, and the presentation itself runs from the PC on which it is set.

Silent or Clicking Presenter?

Finally, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that some presenters, while pressing the buttons, make relatively loud clicking sounds like a PC mouse. Accordingly, these clicks can be heard by the people who are close to you, which is not always pleasant and appropriate. Therefore, I recommend you to take into consideration this seemingly insignificant nuance when choosing a remote control for presentations.

Here are some answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about presentation clickers:

best presentation remote

What is a Presentation Remote?

The presentation remote is designed to control multimedia computer resources during meetings, presentations, speeches for the audience. The presenter consists of a transmitter and a USB receiver connected to a computer or laptop and provides wireless control of the presentation. Bluetooth is also used as an alternative connection means.

What should I look for in a presentation remote?

When choosing a presentation remote, consider factors like wireless range, compatibility, laser pointer brightness, battery life, ease of use, and additional features like timers or vibration alerts.

How long can the presenter work on a single battery charge or on one battery?

There is no definite answer to this question. Duration of operation on one charge depends directly on the following factors: the battery capacity of the battery or the built-in battery, how often and for how long the presenter is in use, how far it is from the USB-receiver and what kind of obstacles are in the way of signal, how often you use the laser pointer function, etc.

Do presentation remotes work with Macs?

Most presentation remotes work with both Windows and Macs, but it's important to check the compatibility before making a purchase.

Can I use a presentation remote with my smartphone or tablet?

Some presentation remotes are compatible with smartphones and tablets, but it's important to check the compatibility before making a purchase.

Do Presentation Remotes Work with Google Slides?

Most of presentation remotes are compatible with Google Slides, but not all. Double check the list of presentation programs a selected presenter works with.

Will my Presentation Clicker Work on TV?

Traditional laser pointers aren't compatible with LCD or LED TV monitors. They can cause severe harm to the screen because they ruin the pixels on the TV screen. The damage can be permanent and you'll be paying for a new TV screen. So using your standard laser pointer isn't the most effective option.

A majority of today's TV monitors are made to block out different hues and glares off of the screen. Polarising filters provide greater contrast of colours. The screen's barrier may be too high traditional lasers to penetrate. This means that the laser pointer won't be visible in the display.

Pointers that operate at 5 mW or more, can cause damage to the pixels on the screen. But digital laser pointers perform better than conventional laser points. Digital presenter remotes, such as Spotlight are able to work flawlessly on TV screens.

Whether you are a student, teacher, or business professional, a reliable presentation remote can be crucial to your presentation.

I've tried to tell you as much as I can about this essential device as a presentation remote. And I have reviewed the best presentation remotes on the market, such as the Logitech R500s Laser Presentation Remote Clicker , Kensington Wireless Presenter or Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote .

I hope this guide has helped you find the perfect presentation remote to meet your needs!

Updated March 2024

The digital revolution has left an indelible mark on the world of presentations. PowerPoint and similar software programs give us visual aids that become the focal points during lectures and conferences. Enter the presentation remote, a speaker’s solution to cutting the cord. With a presentation remote, a presenter is free to work the room instead of being cloistered behind a computer during key discussions.

Presentation remotes solve a logistic problem for speakers, especially in larger rooms and auditoriums. Wireless control is freeing, and with a laser pointer in hand, a presenter can speak from a distance while guiding the audience with a focal point. Whether you’re an educator or keynote speaker, investing in a presentation remote is a must. We examined the best presentation remotes to help you decide which one is on-point with your public speaking needs.

top 10 presentation controller

Key considerations

Battery type.

Presentation remotes are powered by either alkaline or rechargeable batteries. A remote that takes alkaline batteries will likely require one to four AAA batteries.

Presentation remotes with rechargeable batteries power up quickly and hold a charge for several hours. Keep in mind that these batteries aren’t removable or docked to an external device. You simply plug in the cord into an available USB hub .

If you’re leaning toward a remote that requires alkaline batteries but want the perks of a rechargeable remote, you could split the difference and invest in rechargeable batteries . They cost more than alkaline ones, but the investment pays off long-term with fewer battery purchases.

Consider the spaces where you’ll deliver presentations. Some remotes have very limited ranges of between 30 and 50 feet. These are better suited for classrooms and small conference rooms. For auditoriums and halls with a lot of square footage to cover, consider a presentation remote with a range between 100 and 300 feet.

USB receiver size

The USB receiver comes in a variety of sizes. Some are only millimeters in width; others are the size of a regular thumb drive. Many presentation remotes are designed to have the receiver pop into the handheld device itself. It usually clicks into place, so it’s secure during storage. Other USB receivers are completely separate pieces, safely kept in a case with the remote after use.

Compatibility

Some presentation remotes are designed to be compatible only with specific devices and software. Others boast blanket compatibility, citing compatibility with the oldest and newest technology in the presentation space. The latter is an attractive feature if you’re a traveling speaker who can’t always predict what will be in the room when you arrive.

top 10 presentation controller

Color doesn’t play a huge role in presentation remotes, although there are some models that go beyond the rudimentary black and gray. For the most part, they’re monochromatic with occasional color pops on buttons and logos. Color accents of silver, gray, and white are usually contrast colors to indicate where the buttons are and in some cases, what they do.

Laser pointer

The laser pointer is another standard feature. Unlike other buttons on the remote, this one has to stay pressed to beam in most models. This design element is also a safety feature, as lasers should be used with discretion; you wouldn’t want to accidentally shine it in someone’s eyes or in their line of vision. Laser colors are either red or green. While some say green is easier to see than red, laser color is a matter of preference.

The placement, design, and responsibilities of the buttons vary between models.

Some presentation remotes have a D-pad (directional pad), a recognizable four-way button seen on video game controllers and TV and DVD remotes. The D-pad will either be a single button that moves in different directions or a series of slightly spaced individual buttons. The left and right buttons most often control slide commands (for example, go back or move to the next slide). The up and down buttons take on different responsibilities depending on the model; they may control the blank screen command, scroll through a screen, or turn on the laser pointer.

Power switch

The power switch has the most thoughtful placement on presentation remotes. Since no one wants a presentation to come to a screeching halt with technical difficulties, it’s usually neatly tucked away in a place with the least amount of hand contact. For some models, it’s on the side; for others, it’s on the back.

Blank screen

The blank screen button varies quite a bit between models, but it generally remains in the same location. It’s either part of a D-pad setup or situated close to the D-pad as an independent button.

In some models, there is a separate button to initiate a connection between the remote and computer. Other models simply connect as soon as they’re turned on.

Presentation remote prices

Presentation remotes typically cost less than $100, so if it’s something you plan to use on a regular basis, the price is palatable.

On the low end, there are presentation remotes between $10 and $25. These tend to be made with lower-quality materials and components and may not be as reliable as their pricier counterparts. Between $25 and $90, you’ll find better-performing models with a focus on ergonomic design. Products in this range are also compatible with more devices and software. There are some presentation remotes over the $90 mark, and these integrate other technology into their design. For example, the remote may also serve as a mouse , or it might have programmable functions.

  • Remember your USB receiver. Once your presentation concludes, be sure to remove the USB receiver from the computer right away. Set a timer on your watch or phone as a reminder to take it before you leave the room.
  • Double-check your presentation. Make sure there are no issues between your presentation remote and your computer. Arrive early to the lecture hall or conference room to leave time for setup.
  • Keep your presentation remote in a case. If it didn’t come with a case, invest in a compact, padded one to keep the remote protected inside your bag or briefcase .
  • Clean your hands before use. Use your presentation remote with clean hands to keep dirt away from accumulating between buttons. Hand sanitizer can remove excess residue in a pinch if you don’t have time to wash your hands.
  • Keep spare batteries on hand . Be prepared with an extra set of batteries in your bag. While many people have spare phone chargers, sometimes it’s harder to locate batteries when you need them right away.

Other products we considered

Because so many models of presentation remotes share the same features — and even similar shapes and designs — we took a special look at some remotes outside the norm. The DinoFire Wireless Finger Ring USB PowerPoint Presentation Clicker breaks from the handheld tradition and wraps itself conveniently around your pointer finger. It’s rechargeable, taking only one hour to charge and lasting for seven days. Periods of low activity kick off its sleep mode, so this futuristic presentation remote-ring is a top battery-saving and space-saving option.

For time-conscious speakers, the Doosl Wireless Presenter Laser Pointer Green PowerPointer Clicker Remote LCD Display with Timer is essential. This model has a green LCD display that is programmable with vibrating alerts to help you keep time. It has a 300-foot wireless range thanks to a top-grade microchip, so it’s an ideal pick for speakers who like to move around in a large auditorium.

top 10 presentation controller

Q. My presentation has moving text and images on each slide. Can I control those features with my presentation remote? A. It depends less on the remote and more on how you design your presentation. For example, a plain PowerPoint presentation will move to the next slide with a single click. If your presentation has moving images or text, each one requires a single click to progress. After all interactive parts of the slide are completed, a final click transitions to the next slide.

Q. I’m left-handed. Are some remotes easier to use than others? A. Most of the presentation remotes on the market have axial symmetry, which means you can reach buttons just as easily holding it in the left hand as the right. For remotes with a side power switch, it’s usually located on the left lateral side. If you’re concerned about accidentally hitting it during use, opt for a remote with the switch on the back.

Q.  Because my presentation remote is wireless, do I need to worry about any other device interference? A. Sometimes there is interference or interruptions during use if your USB receiver is plugged into a computer with other wireless devices, like a wireless keyboard . You could disconnect them temporarily in settings or manually remove their USB receivers during your presentation.

Q. My presentation remote worked fine at home, but I can’t get it to work in this room/auditorium. Now what do I do? A. If there is someone technical in the room who can help, hopefully they can resolve the issue. If not, call for IT assistance. While you’re waiting for them to arrive, try the USB receiver in another computer. You can also try one in another room to determine whether the issue is the computer or the remote itself.

What is a Presentation Remote

Presentation remotes are truly helpful gadgets for people who need to make presentations or reports quite often. This compact digital device allows you to switch the slides when you wish and, therefore, to control the time for each slide. Most wireless presentation remotes have a built-in laser pointer that helps you draw the attention of the audience to a certain important aspect. If you want to make a really successful presentation, no matter if it's at school, college, or at work, a USB presentation remote is a must-have device.

If you wish to use a versatile remote for controlling several digital devices at a time, read our review of the best TV remotes and get one of them.

What Features to Compare

The first thing you should pay attention to when making a choice of a wireless presentation remote is the design. Consider the shape and the size of the pointer as well as the material it's made of. You should use the device that you will be able to hold comfortably. If the material is slippery, you might even drop the device. Also, if the remote is too big for your palm, using it won't be convenient. Also, the best gadgets have a special storage place for a USB receiver. This way, you will never lose this tiny yet indispensable peripheral. If the model you choose has no receiver storage, make sure to check if it has a special case or a bag. The best wireless presentation remotes have light indicators, informing you about such important issues as the battery charge level and the signal strength. There's another highly important aspect we are going to draw your attention to - very often we prepare files for presentations and forget to copy them to a flash drive. Has this ever happened to you? Quite likely it has! And that's why the best presentation remotes have a receiver with a slot for microSD cards. Thanks to this important feature, you can copy all your presentation files to a memory card. That's particularly handy for busy people like teachers and professors.

Next, you need to know what each wireless presentation remote can actually do. It's self-evident that slide switch is not the only option these devices can cope with. There are many other handy capabilities that will make your presentations really interesting and efficient. Many presentation remotes support a Mouse mode which allows you to control the cursor on the screen of your computer. This way you can pick the files you need, open them, as well as launch apps/videos or even click on hyperlinks. Very often the audience can't get major points of a presentation and that's why a laser pointer comes in handy too. How does it work? You just need to push the button and a laser pointer will appear on the screen, so you will be able to highlight the most important features. Many people think that the laser pointer glows red only, but this is wrong. Today, some wireless presentation remotes glow green - a green laser is brighter. Moreover, some devices feature violet or blue laser pointers but they aren't widespread yet. Finally, when you are done with the slides, you may need to switch the audience's attention from a large glowing screen to yourself. How to do it without losing time? The answer is simple - turn off the screen completely. That's why most presentation remotes have a Black Screen button that allows you to do it in the blink.

We've come to the final features that are worth you consideration. Since nearly all presentation remotes are wireless, you should know their operational range. If the computer is too far, the signal from the remote to the receiver won't be strong enough. No need to say, the range is important if you are going to make presentations in large premises. If it's just a small conference room in your office, the range won't be important. Also, don't forget to check which operating system a USB presentation remote is compatible with. Most of them are compatible with Windows (usually, all versions are supported, though Windows 10 might be a trouble for certain dongles), but if you make lots of presentations and, thus, need to use different kinds of computers, choose the remote compatible with Mac OS as well. Some devices can also work with Linux and Android-operated computers. In the end, check what power source every device uses. As usual, it's either a built-in battery or 1-2 AAA batteries. The batteries can be replaced quickly but if a remote has a built-in battery, it should be charged in advance.

Knowing about the best presentation clickers is half of the information you need to purchase one. There are a few factors which you must bear in mind while choosing a suitable presentation remote. Below are some criteria that need to be considered when purchasing one.

How To Choose The Right Presentation Clicker?

The wireless control range offered by presentation remotes differ based on their model and make. When choosing a presentation clicker, it is crucial to gauge the room’s size in which the wireless presenter will be used. Some presenters usually have a connectivity range of 30 to 50 ft, while others have longer ranges of 100 to 300 ft.

  • Battery type

Presenter remotes rely on either AA or AAA batteries. Some require 2-batteries, while others are more power-efficient and require a single battery. Certain presenter remotes come with rechargeable batteries that last for prolonged periods on a single charge. In situations of continuous usage, you should purchase one with rechargeable batteries.

  • Compatibility

There are 2 factors to consider regarding wireless presentation remote compatibility – compatibility with the software and compatibility with the operating system. Most models are plug-and-play devices that require no added software installation. It is best to purchase one that requires no additional drivers.

  • Laser pointer

Almost all presenters are equipped with laser pointers. This is because it has become an indispensable part of a wireless presentation remote. When choosing a presenter remote, it is ideal to keep in mind the distance of the laser or beam.  The most common colors are green and red. While red remains to be a popular choice among consumers, green is a color that is noticeable on almost all colored slides.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will my presentation clicker work on a Mac and a TV?

While most are compatible with Windows and macOS, there are a few that may not work on macOS. Since a television screen is just a display output, if it is supported by the system software, it will run on a TV.

2. What color laser is best for a presentation pointer?

The two most popular colors are green and red. While red offers great visibility, a green laser pointer can be easier to see against some slides. This is why most professionals prefer using a remote clicker with a green laser pointer.

3. Isn’t it easier to download an app to my phone to control the presentation?

No, it isn’t. While it may seem like an easier and cost-saving alternative, it may not function as intended. Firstly, your phone will lack the tactile feel of dedicated buttons, and secondly, it may not function effectively when at a distance from the receiver.

4. Is it easy to control a presentation with a remote?

Yes, a presentation remote makes it easy to operate and control the slides in a presentation. In addition, using a remote doesn’t require you to ask for external help or stay near the laptop to change the slides.

5. Does a presentation remote need batteries?

Yes, most presentation remotes work on two AAA batteries, and some include a rechargeable battery for seamless operation.

6. Are laser pointers good for presentations?

Laser pointers help you point out important points on the slides during the presentation. This allows you to move around as you speak and helps the audience focus on that particular point you are talking about.

Presentation software runs at the heart of business sales, management, and development, so it's important to ensure you have the best presentation software for your needs. This is especially when looking to share ideas, concepts, and workflows, and the ability to present these in a simple and understandable way is essential.

However, while presentation software has been traditionally limited to text and images, it has widened its ability to work with different media such as video and audio.

Therefore it's important for the best presentation software to not simply be easy and simple to use, but also be able to support additional media so that presentations can be more engaging, lively, and ultimately serve their purpose in educating and updating their intended audience.

Below we've listed the best presentation software currently on the market.

We've also listed the best free presentation software .

The best office software in the world is: Microsoft 365

The best office software in the world is: Microsoft 365 There are many different office software suites out there, but Microsoft Office remains the original and best, offering an unsurpassed range of features and functionality that rivals just can't match.

Even better, Microsoft 365 - previously branded as Office 365 - is a cloud-based solution which means you can use it on any computer, mobile device, or smartphone, without having to worry about compatibility. All your files are saved in the cloud and synced between devices, so you can begin work on a document at home or in the office, then continue working on it on the go.

You can sign up to Microsoft 365 here .

Microsoft PowerPoint website screenshot

1. PowerPoint

Our expert review:

Reasons to buy

For most people, Microsoft 's PowerPoint remains the original and best of all the presentation software platforms out there. While other companies have managed to catch up and offer rival products worthy of consideration, the fact is that PowerPoint's familiar interface and ubiquitous availability means it remains a favorite for the majority of people.

On the one hand, it's long been a staple of the hugely popular Microsoft Office suite, meaning that for most users this is going to be the first - and last - presentation software they are going to need to use.

Additionally, Microsoft has made PowerPoint, along with their other office products, available as free apps (with limited functionality) on both iOS and Android for mobile use, meaning it's even harder to avoid them. And this is before we even consider the inclusion of PowerPoint in Microsoft's cloud-based Microsoft 365.

It does everything necessary that you'd expect of presentation software, allowing you to add text and media to a series of slides, to accompany a talk and other presentations. There are easy-to-use templates included to help spice things up a little, but even a general user with little experience of it is likely to find themselves able to use PowerPoint without much trouble at all.

Overall, it's hard to go wrong with PowerPoint, and although Microsoft 365 has a nominal cost, the apps are free to use even if they do have more limited functionality.

2. CustomShow

Reasons to avoid.

Branding says a lot about a business, and it’s something firms need to get right from day one – from a good logo to a suitable font. CustomShow is business presentation software that puts all these elements of branding first.

Using the system, you can design and present customized, branded presentations that reflect your company and the products you offer, featuring the aforementioned logo and custom fonts. As well as this, you get a slide library and analytics to ensure your presentations are a success.

What’s more, you can import presentations into the software, and use it to tweak them further. There’s also integration with SalesForce , and because the platform is cloud-based, you can access your presentations on computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Considering the focus on branding, this offering could be good for marketing and sales teams, and it's used by major companies such as HBO and CBS Interactive.

ClearSlide website screenshot

3. ClearSlide

Just like CustomShow, ClearSlide has a niche focus for companies. The platform is targeted at firms looking to generate successful marketing campaigns, pushing sales via presentations (and more), not least through a range of analytics and metrics to work for sales and marketing.

With the product, you can upload a range of files, including PowerPoint, Keynote, PDF, and Excel. ClearSlide is integrated with other platforms, including Google Drive, Dropbox, and Salesforce.

This system is pretty complex and may offer too many irrelevant features for some businesses, but you can create customized content that reflects your company and the message you’re trying to get out to customers. There are also some good metrics and analysis features, and you can sign up for a free trial before making any decisions.

The real strength of ClearSlide comes from its focus on sales and marketing data, not least being able to track user engagement alongside other metrics.

Haiku Deck website screenshot

4. Haiku Deck

Any presentation app will allow you to personalize your slides to at least some extent, but Haiku Deck goes one step further than the competition. It comes with a wide range of themes suited to different needs, and you also get access to 40 million free images from the Creative Commons collection.

When it comes to creating a presentation, you have the option to do so on the web, which means your presentation is accessible across a range of mobile devices as well as desktops. Regardless of the device used, you’re able to select from a variety of different fonts, layouts, and filters to make the perfect presentation.

The great thing about these various customization options is that they’re categorized into different industries and use cases. For instance, you’ll find themes for teaching, cooking, real estate, and startups. Most of the features require you to be online, but hopefully, you’ll have a sturdy net connection wherever you go.

SlideDog website screenshot

5. SlideDog

It’s all too easy to end up creating a presentation that’s unappealing, and the last thing you want to do is make the audience fall asleep. SlideDog lets you combine almost any type of media to create a rich presentation that’s sure to keep the viewers’ peepers open, avoiding the ‘cookie cutter’ look that makes presentations seem dull.

Marketed as a web-based multimedia presentation tool, it gives you the ability to combine PowerPoint presentations, graphics, PDF files, Prezi presentations, web pages, pictures, videos, and movie clips. You can drag these into custom playlists and display them to your audience with ease.

You’re able to remotely control your presentations and playlists from your smartphone, the web, or a secondary computer, and there’s also the option to share slides in real-time. Audience members can even view your slide from their own devices by clicking a link. That’s a handy feature if you’re looking to create an immersive presentation experience.

SlideDog is probably the cheapest of the presentation software featured, with a free account that will cover the essential features. However, for live sharing and premium support, you need to upgrade.

Prezi website screenshot

Prezi is one of the more unique presentation tools. Instead of presenting your graphics and text in a slide-to-slide format, you can create highly visual and interactive presentation canvases with the goal of “emphasizing the relationship between the ideas”.

Presentations can also be tailored to the specific audience, as this is a flexible platform that’s capable of skipping ahead, or veering off into a side topic, without having to flip through all the slides to get to a particular bit.

For business users, there are a variety of handy tools available. By downloading Prezi , you can build and edit presentations with your colleagues in real-time, which is perfect for companies with teams based around the globe.

When you have created a presentation you’re happy with, you can present it live (in HD) and send a direct link to viewers. There are some analysis tools here, too – you can see who’s accessed your presentation, which parts of it, and for how long. The app is available for Mac and Windows devices.

Other presentation software to consider

Google Slides  is part of the Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) office platform intended as an online alternative to Microsoft Office. It may seem a little limited by comparison to PowerPoint, but as it's browser-based that means cross-platform compatibility. Additionally, it allows for collaborative work, and Google Slides really works well here. On top of the fact that it integrates with the rest of the Google Workspace apps, not least Google Drive, and you have a contender.

Zoho Show  is another of the many, many tools and apps that Zoho has made available for business use. It also operates in the cloud so it's accessible to any device with a browser, and it also allows for collaborative work. You can also easily share the link for users to download, or provide a live presentation online. The updated version has a simpler and easier to use interface and comes with a free version and a paid-for one with expanded features.

Evernote  is normally thought of as just note-taking software, but it does provide the option to create a presentation you can share online or with an audience. In that regard, it's a little more limited than the other options in not being dedicated presentation software. However, as an easy and handy way to pull together a presentation quickly, it could serve as a backup or last-minute option, especially if Evernote is already being commonly used by you.

LibreOffice Impress  is part of the open-source suite offered as a free alternative to Microsoft Office, and comes with a powerful array of tools and editing options for your presentation, not least working with 3D images. It's supported by a large community, so it's easy to find an array of additional templates. If there is a limitation it's that it's software you download and install rather than web-based, but any presentations created should be easily portable to the web if needed.

Adobe Spark  does things a bit differently, as rather than just use images it's geared toward video as well. This makes for potentially more powerful multimedia presentations, especially as Adobe also has a big selection of photos and images available for its users. There is a free tier for core features but requires a subscription for custom branding, personalized themes, and support.

Slides  comes with a lot of features in an easy-to-use interface, and involves setting up presentations using drag and drop into an existing grid. It's also internet-based so there's no software to download, and it only requires a browser to use and access.

Presentation software FAQs

Which presentation software is best for you.

When deciding which presentation software to download and use, first consider what your actual needs are, as sometimes free platforms may only provide basic options, so if you need to use advanced tools you may find a paid platform is much more worthwhile. Additionally, free and budget software options can sometimes prove limited when it comes to the variety of tools available, while higher-end software can really cater for every need, so do ensure you have a good idea of which features you think you may require for your presentation needs.

How we tested the best presentation software

To test for the best presentation software we first set up an account with the relevant software platform, whether as a download or as an online service. We then tested the service to see how the software could be used for different purposes and in different situations. The aim was to push each software platform to see how useful its basic tools were and also how easy it was to get to grips with any more advanced tools.

The ProPresenter Guide to Presentation Remotes (Clickers)

It is common for a speaker on stage to desire to control their own slide changes. Presentation Remotes or “clickers” can be a great solution for this. There are 3 main options for this: generic and cheap remotes, the production industry standard, and apps which can provide more flexibility and control.

Generic remotes: the Logitech R400, R800 and similar

top 10 presentation controller

Logitech makes a couple of very common models, and there are a ton of similar options on Amazon or the local office supply store. These work the way you’d expect: they have buttons to go forward/back, and maybe buttons to clear the screen, or a laser to point with. They generally use the same spectrum as WiFi, and have a range up to 100’ or so. They generally cost $20-$150 (the R400 is $70), and have a dongle that plugs into the computer over USB to receive the signal.

The downside is using the WiFi spectrum, so the range and reliability drops in WiFi-crowded areas, like office buildings with lots of Wifi routers. Some clickers do come with Bluetooth, which uses a different frequency spectrum, and could give better connection results depending on which class of Bluetooth device it is (Class 1 is over 100m, Class 3 is under 10m).

Pros: Easy to use, plug and play.

Cons: Can miss clicks or have complete dropouts in Wifi-crowded areas.

Gold standard: DSAN PerfectCue

top 10 presentation controller

DSAN makes the industry standard for presentation remotes in their PerfectCue system. It uses frequencies in the AM radio range, so there’s no conflicts with WiFi, and the transmitter range is more than 250’. The receiver can connect to 2 computers simultaneously, so a backup machine stays in sync. It also supports multiple systems in proximity to each other, if you’re doing a conference with multiple presentations in adjacent rooms. However there is one catch: the price tag starts around $350 and gets into the thousands pretty quickly.

Pros: It’s the best. Great range, great reliability, designed for mission-critical applications.

Cons: Cost. Starts at $350 and gets into the low thousands for more elaborate systems.

Modern option: ProRemote App

top 10 presentation controller

The ProPresenter Remote app is available on Android and iOS , and allows the presenter to control ProPresenter using the WiFi. It’s affordable, works well, and connects directly to ProPresenter. It also works on both tablets and smartphones and shows images of each of the slides, making it as simple as possible for speakers to control their own slides, especially if they bounce around a lot between slides.

Pros: Cheapest option, custom-built for ProPresenter, shows thumbnails of each slide, enables speakers to jump around easily.

Cons: Requires your mobile device to be connected to the same network as ProPresenter machine, and to be able to communicate. Bad WiFi, poor connectivity, and firewalls can block this.

What is an AI Presentation Tool?

what is an AI presentation tool

Image created with Divi AI

An AI presentation tool is a system that uses machine learning generative AI that allows you to create presentations in minutes rather than hours. These revolutionary tools will enable you to craft your presentation from script to finished product, all with a descriptive text prompt.

What to Look for in an AI Presentation Maker

As we explore the top AI presentation makers available, it’s best to look for features that will make your life easier, not harder. Here are a few things that your chosen tool should offer:

  • Ease-of-use: If you want to incorporate an AI presentation tool into your workflow, you’ll want to find something easy to use. After all, you seek a less time-consuming way to create presentations. You shouldn’t have to spend hours learning a new interface.
  • Integration with popular software: Those in the business world know that there are three primary presentation tools that almost everyone uses: Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Keynote, and Google Slides. When shopping for AI presentation tools, look for products that can easily export your creations for those popular programs.
  • Customization options: Another essential factor to consider is how easily you can customize your presentation. Look for programs that won’t force you to stick with cookie-cutter AI-generated templates. Make sure you can make design and text edits as you need them.
  • Tutorials: Learning new software can be intimidating, so choose a platform with plenty of tutorials and support should you encounter any problems.

The AI Presentation Tools Listed In Order

  • Beautiful AI

1. Simplified

🥇 best ai presentation tool overall.

Simplified

Simplified is one of the most robust AI tools on the market today. Generative artificial intelligence can create presentations, images, memes, thumbnails, social media quotes, and more. What makes it unique is its wealth of AI features that appeal to creatives and content creators across different mediums, including digital art, writing, videos, and online advertising through social media.

Edit Images With AI

Simplified image editing

Another cool feature of Simplified is the image editing feature. You can remove or replace the background, erase elements, magically remove artifacts or other imperfections, autofocus, or use generative fill to add additional details to your photos. The generative fill feature works much like Photoshop AI , where you can select an area of a photograph and fill it with a new element you describe with a text prompt.

What We Like About Simplified

  • Multimedia: Generate presentations and other forms of media
  • Editing: Edit images and text with AI
  • Branding: Create logos and design elements with AI
  • Simple to Use: One-click editing tools for image editing

What Could Be Improved

  • Translations: The AI sometimes struggles with translating other languages
  • No Interactive Features: Unlike other AI presentation tools, Simplified doesn’t offer any interactive tools

🥇 Why We Picked It

We chose Simplified due to the sheer number of AI tools available with the platform. In addition to making AI presentations, users can use an AI image generator, AI writer, video editor, memes, and more. The interface is easy to understand, the price is affordable, and you can accomplish everything you need in one place as a content creator.

Who Is Simplified Best For?

Simplified may be for you if you’re in the market for an all-in-one design tool. With AI tools for generating presentations and all their elements, you can design like the pros for a very affordable price.

2. Slides AI

🥈 best ai presentation tool for google.

AI presentation tools Slides AI

Slides AI is an extension for Chrome designed to work inside Google Slides. Provide it with a topic, including any requested elements, and Slides AI will create up to a 10-page presentation in minutes. There are limited features, but it adds slides, generates text, and sets formatting based on your prompt. In addition to generating slides, Slides AI has a Magic Write feature, which allows you to paraphrase sentences, suggests images for your presentations, and helps you search for citations for your work.

Slides AI Works as an Extension

Slides AI text prompt

Slides AI has a simple interface, allowing you to focus more on creating content than learning new software. Since it works as an extension within Google Slides, you simply have to click a button and type in some text, and Slides AI will do the rest.

What We Like About Slides AI

  • Magic Write: Generate text through the power of AI
  • Generate Slides: Create new slides based on original content
  • Topic-Based: Create slides from a topic
  • Software Limitations: There aren’t a lot of creative tools with Slides AI so presentations may look generic

🥈Why We Picked It

For those using Google Slides or PowerPoint, Slides AI is an excellent choice. It allows you to streamline slide creation through a simple interface, AI writing, and AI-generated themes. The plans are affordable so that budget-conscious people will get a lot of bang for their buck.

Who Is Slides AI Best For?

If you are a regular Google Slides user, Slides AI is a no-brainer. You can save time creating your slides and give them a fresh look in seconds. The downside to Slides AI is that there is no text generator. That said, plenty of AI writers , such as Rytr or Jasper , can help.

Those who like Slides AI call it a “game changer” for creating presentations. However, the AI-slide generation is a bit vanilla.

3. PowerPoint

🥉 best ai presentation tool for business professionals.

AI presentation tools Microsoft 365

Microsoft is the founding father of business software, including the widely popular PowerPoint . Sure, there are other products out there that are geared toward businesses, but PowerPoint is the gold standard for making presentations. Did you know that it comes with AI features built right in? Companies that already use Microsoft products will be pleased to know that you can generate incredible designs for your presentations through integration with Copilot.

Practice Delivering Your Presentations

Microsoft reheasal report

One of the best features of PowerPoint is the Rehearse with Coach AI tool. It records your voice and image on video to evaluate your performance. It allows you to read through your presentation and then get a professional critique of how you did. You’ll get a rehearsal report that analyzes your body language, notes how many filler words you used, and analyzes your pace and pitch.

What We Like About Microsoft 365

  • AI Designer: AI-powered design suggestions for generating slides
  • Automatic Slide Generation: Uses AI to add additional slides based on the original design
  • Rehearsal Reports: Generate rehearsal reports to get feedback on presentation delivery
  • Lack of Interactivity: PowerPoint only allows for text, images, and graphics but nothing else

🥉 Why We Picked It

Microsoft is the go-to for professional business software. Between its highly collaborative nature, design flexibility, and overall visual impact, PowerPoint has been a top contender for years. Now, with artificial intelligence on board, presenters can easily design slides faster, practice their delivery, and get feedback on how well they perform during rehearsal.

Who Is Microsoft 365 Best For?

If you make presentations for a living or your company requires PowerPoint, check out their AI tools. The Rehearsal Report feature is well worth the cost, especially if you are the one who has to give the presentation you create. Microsoft will even give you a 30-day risk-free trial to try it out. The downside is that you can’t edit the images it generates, but you can get around that by adding an AI art generator to your arsenal of tools.

Fans of PowerPoint note its ease of use, flexibility, and stability. On the other hand, consumers wish there were more interactive features.

Microsoft offers a 30-day free trial with prices starting at $6.99 per month per person.

Try Microsoft 365

Gamma AI presentation tool

Gamma is one of the most intuitive platforms on our list. It uses generative AI to build your presentation from a text prompt, complete with visual aids, such as charts, graphs, images, and other visual elements – automatically. One of our favorite features is the interface. Once Gamma creates your presentation, you can easily add more elements. It functions much like a page builder or Gutenberg for WordPress , where you can drag and drop visual elements into your pages and then tweak them accordingly.

Gamma presentation wizard

Gamma creates presentations on the fly simply by typing in a text prompt. One of our favorite features is watching in real-time as Gamma makes your presentation. Once completed, you can use generative AI to edit, improve, or change any presentation aspect to match your branding and style. Another unique feature is Gamma’s analytics feature, which allows you to see who’s viewed your presentation and track engagement down to the element level.

What We Like About Gamma

  • Analytics Tracking:
  • Web Sharing: Share over the web and solicit feedback through comments
  • Simple Interface: Drag-and-drop visual editor
  • Export Options: Export to PowerPoint or PDF
  • It’s Internet Dependent: Gamma is web-based, so you must have an internet connection to use it. While this may not be a con for most, it eliminates the possibility of working on presentations while offline

Who Is Gamma Best For?

McKinsey Technology Trends Outlook 2023

After a tumultuous 2022 for technology investment and talent, the first half of 2023 has seen a resurgence of enthusiasm about technology’s potential to catalyze progress in business and society. Generative AI deserves much of the credit for ushering in this revival, but it stands as just one of many advances on the horizon that could drive sustainable, inclusive growth and solve complex global challenges.

To help executives track the latest developments, the McKinsey Technology Council  has once again identified and interpreted the most significant technology trends unfolding today. While many trends are in the early stages of adoption and scale, executives can use this research to plan ahead by developing an understanding of potential use cases and pinpointing the critical skills needed as they hire or upskill talent to bring these opportunities to fruition.

Our analysis examines quantitative measures of interest, innovation, and investment to gauge the momentum of each trend. Recognizing the long-term nature and interdependence of these trends, we also delve into underlying technologies, uncertainties, and questions surrounding each trend. This year, we added an important new dimension for analysis—talent. We provide data on talent supply-and-demand dynamics for the roles of most relevance to each trend. (For more, please see the sidebar, “Research methodology.”)

New and notable

All of last year’s 14 trends remain on our list, though some experienced accelerating momentum and investment, while others saw a downshift. One new trend, generative AI, made a loud entrance and has already shown potential for transformative business impact.

Research methodology

To assess the development of each technology trend, our team collected data on five tangible measures of activity: search engine queries, news publications, patents, research publications, and investment. For each measure, we used a defined set of data sources to find occurrences of keywords associated with each of the 15 trends, screened those occurrences for valid mentions of activity, and indexed the resulting numbers of mentions on a 0–1 scoring scale that is relative to the trends studied. The innovation score combines the patents and research scores; the interest score combines the news and search scores. (While we recognize that an interest score can be inflated by deliberate efforts to stimulate news and search activity, we believe that each score fairly reflects the extent of discussion and debate about a given trend.) Investment measures the flows of funding from the capital markets into companies linked with the trend. Data sources for the scores include the following:

  • Patents. Data on patent filings are sourced from Google Patents.
  • Research. Data on research publications are sourced from the Lens (www.lens.org).
  • News. Data on news publications are sourced from Factiva.
  • Searches. Data on search engine queries are sourced from Google Trends.
  • Investment. Data on private-market and public-market capital raises are sourced from PitchBook.
  • Talent demand. Number of job postings is sourced from McKinsey’s proprietary Organizational Data Platform, which stores licensed, de-identified data on professional profiles and job postings. Data is drawn primarily from English-speaking countries.

In addition, we updated the selection and definition of trends from last year’s study to reflect the evolution of technology trends:

  • The generative-AI trend was added since last year’s study.
  • We adjusted the definitions of electrification and renewables (previously called future of clean energy) and climate technologies beyond electrification and renewables (previously called future of sustainable consumption).
  • Data sources were updated. This year, we included only closed deals in PitchBook data, which revised downward the investment numbers for 2018–22. For future of space technologies investments, we used research from McKinsey’s Aerospace & Defense Practice.

This new entrant represents the next frontier of AI. Building upon existing technologies such as applied AI and industrializing machine learning, generative AI has high potential and applicability across most industries. Interest in the topic (as gauged by news and internet searches) increased threefold from 2021 to 2022. As we recently wrote, generative AI and other foundational models  change the AI game by taking assistive technology to a new level, reducing application development time, and bringing powerful capabilities to nontechnical users. Generative AI is poised to add as much as $4.4 trillion in economic value from a combination of specific use cases and more diffuse uses—such as assisting with email drafts—that increase productivity. Still, while generative AI can unlock significant value, firms should not underestimate the economic significance and the growth potential that underlying AI technologies and industrializing machine learning can bring to various industries.

Investment in most tech trends tightened year over year, but the potential for future growth remains high, as further indicated by the recent rebound in tech valuations. Indeed, absolute investments remained strong in 2022, at more than $1 trillion combined, indicating great faith in the value potential of these trends. Trust architectures and digital identity grew the most out of last year’s 14 trends, increasing by nearly 50 percent as security, privacy, and resilience become increasingly critical across industries. Investment in other trends—such as applied AI, advanced connectivity, and cloud and edge computing—declined, but that is likely due, at least in part, to their maturity. More mature technologies can be more sensitive to short-term budget dynamics than more nascent technologies with longer investment time horizons, such as climate and mobility technologies. Also, as some technologies become more profitable, they can often scale further with lower marginal investment. Given that these technologies have applications in most industries, we have little doubt that mainstream adoption will continue to grow.

Organizations shouldn’t focus too heavily on the trends that are garnering the most attention. By focusing on only the most hyped trends, they may miss out on the significant value potential of other technologies and hinder the chance for purposeful capability building. Instead, companies seeking longer-term growth should focus on a portfolio-oriented investment across the tech trends most important to their business. Technologies such as cloud and edge computing and the future of bioengineering have shown steady increases in innovation and continue to have expanded use cases across industries. In fact, more than 400 edge use cases across various industries have been identified, and edge computing is projected to win double-digit growth globally over the next five years. Additionally, nascent technologies, such as quantum, continue to evolve and show significant potential for value creation. Our updated analysis for 2023 shows that the four industries likely to see the earliest economic impact from quantum computing—automotive, chemicals, financial services, and life sciences—stand to potentially gain up to $1.3 trillion in value by 2035. By carefully assessing the evolving landscape and considering a balanced approach, businesses can capitalize on both established and emerging technologies to propel innovation and achieve sustainable growth.

Tech talent dynamics

We can’t overstate the importance of talent as a key source in developing a competitive edge. A lack of talent is a top issue constraining growth. There’s a wide gap between the demand for people with the skills needed to capture value from the tech trends and available talent: our survey of 3.5 million job postings in these tech trends found that many of the skills in greatest demand have less than half as many qualified practitioners per posting as the global average. Companies should be on top of the talent market, ready to respond to notable shifts and to deliver a strong value proposition to the technologists they hope to hire and retain. For instance, recent layoffs in the tech sector may present a silver lining for other industries that have struggled to win the attention of attractive candidates and retain senior tech talent. In addition, some of these technologies will accelerate the pace of workforce transformation. In the coming decade, 20 to 30 percent of the time that workers spend on the job could be transformed by automation technologies, leading to significant shifts in the skills required to be successful. And companies should continue to look at how they can adjust roles or upskill individuals to meet their tailored job requirements. Job postings in fields related to tech trends grew at a very healthy 15 percent between 2021 and 2022, even though global job postings overall decreased by 13 percent. Applied AI and next-generation software development together posted nearly one million jobs between 2018 and 2022. Next-generation software development saw the most significant growth in number of jobs (exhibit).

Job posting for fields related to tech trends grew by 400,000 between 2021 and 2022, with generative AI growing the fastest.

Image description:

Small multiples of 15 slope charts show the number of job postings in different fields related to tech trends from 2021 to 2022. Overall growth of all fields combined was about 400,000 jobs, with applied AI having the most job postings in 2022 and experiencing a 6% increase from 2021. Next-generation software development had the second-highest number of job postings in 2022 and had 29% growth from 2021. Other categories shown, from most job postings to least in 2022, are as follows: cloud and edge computing, trust architecture and digital identity, future of mobility, electrification and renewables, climate tech beyond electrification and renewables, advanced connectivity, immersive-reality technologies, industrializing machine learning, Web3, future of bioengineering, future of space technologies, generative AI, and quantum technologies.

End of image description.

This bright outlook for practitioners in most fields highlights the challenge facing employers who are struggling to find enough talent to keep up with their demands. The shortage of qualified talent has been a persistent limiting factor in the growth of many high-tech fields, including AI, quantum technologies, space technologies, and electrification and renewables. The talent crunch is particularly pronounced for trends such as cloud computing and industrializing machine learning, which are required across most industries. It’s also a major challenge in areas that employ highly specialized professionals, such as the future of mobility and quantum computing (see interactive).

Salvation's Edge

Salvation's Edge is the first 6-player Raid added in Destiny 2: The Final Shape , released on June 7, 2024. It has a Power Cap of 1965, which is no small feat! Here's what you need to know about Salvation's Edge in D2, including how to start the Raid.

How to Start Salvation's Edge in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

To start The Final Shape's Salvation's Edge Raid in Destiny 2, you must have completed the following steps:

  • Completed The Final Shape's main campaign .
  • Finished the post-game Wild Card Exotic quest .
  • Reached the 1965 Power Cap .

Once you've done so, you can start Salvation's Edge from The Pale Heart map when you're in a Fireteam of six players. Open up the Director and select "The Pale Heart" to open the area's map. You'll find Salvation's Edge to the right of The Transgression, as seen in our map screenshot below:

Destiny 2 final shape salvation's edge raid map (1).jpg

Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge Opening Walkthrough

Once you load into the raid, to get to the first encounter you'll need to run upwards on the side of structures. Eventually, you'll reach the first encounter. Check out the video below to see the path we took to get there on launch day.

Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge Substratum Encounter

The first encounter in the Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge raid has a few mechanics. To start, the encounter, pick up the Pyramidal Triangle and deposit it into the box.

Destiny 2 2024.06.07 - 09.57.02.04.mp4.00 15 38 07.Still001.png

You'll then need two groups to go separately into the doorways which open. Be careful as explosive Harpies will be exiting as you head in.

2 Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge First Encounter - Gain Access.00 00 35 26.Still001.png

Once they're dealt with, head in and you'll need to Kill a Hydra and continue through the area as more doors open. Make note of the red squares on the ground as they will light up. But more on that later. Proceed through the first room, into the next room. If your doors are all shut, the other team likely needs to kill a Hydra to allow you to proceed. Once that happens, one team will need to find a Devotee of the Witness Minotaur that must be defeated. Once killed a Threshold Sentinel will spawn in the main room. Kill it to start the process all over again.

2 Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge First Encounter - Gain Access.00 01 05 18.Still002.png

Once you've done the above a 2nd time, and killed the Threshold Sentinel you'll want to again break up into two teams and look for a glowing plate to stand on. Stepping on this plate will send a beam of light on the ground to the other plate another player will need to go to. Once you arrive, let the beam of light travel all the way along the ground and into the second plate. Watch the plate begin to charge up. It will make a sound indicating it's powering up. After only a moment, step on it briefly to send the charge back to the other side where the first player will let the plate charge up, and then send it back to the other player.

2 Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge First Encounter - Gain Access.00 03 30 40.Still005.png

While this is happening, some enemies will spawn in the room as well as something called Pyramidal Resonance. Every player should pick up 3 of these if possible. The people managing the plate should keep passing the charge back and forth until there's around 30 seconds on the Final Shape Looming clock. At that point, you'll want to have one group shoot the spire's glowing yellow diamond to "lock" your plate. It will glow bright yellow if you've been successful. Step on the plate as it charges, and this time shoot it to "lock" your node. Once the nodes are locked, you can return to the main room. It will take one of your Pyramidal Resonance when you lock the spire.

2 Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge First Encounter - Gain Access.00 04 09 45.Still010.png

Back in the main room, a Harbinger of the Witness will spawn. You'll need to kill it and a box will spawn in the main room, but it's a bit slow to do so after the Harbinger is defeated. Once it spawns, immediately put the Pyramidal Resonance you've collected into the box. This will extend your time and allow you to do the entire thing again until you've collected around 45 Pyramidal Resonance. Then it's onto the next encounter.

2 Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge First Encounter - Gain Access.00 04 20 47.Still011.png

Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge Hearald of Finality Boss Fight Encounter

During the Herald of Finality boss encounter you will enter a large central area with 3 structures. One at the back left and right of the arena. You will need to separate into three groups of two and go to each section of the map. To start the encounter, shoot the taken orb in the center of the arena.

Once there, clear out any enemies who have spawned. You'll see a prompt that says "The Hearld summons [PLAYERNAME] to battle." That player will need to kill either a "Trammel of" enemy type which appears as either a Taken Ogre, Taken Phalanx, or Taken Witch that appears at their location. Everyone can damage this enemy, but be sure the player who the Herald summoned is doing the final blow. Once the Trammel enemy is defeated you'll get the prompt "Energy flows into the architecture."

Plates on the ground will now glow in your respective tower. You'll need to step on them and send power from the top to bottom and back again to generate Resonance. This time there will be multiple resonance types. Spherical and Pyramidal. Each player will need to take a unique resonance type. The player who takes Pyramidal will be responsible for closing the sphere later on. Everyone will eventually dunk it into a central container once the prompt "The Resonant Conductor Sparks to Life" appears on the screen. For now, pass the energy from the plate back and forth between the top and bottom plate until you've generated 3 resonance of your needed type, and then stop passing the energy and let it reset. At this point a taken orb will spawn in the sky and need to be shot at until it goes away.

Clear out all enemies and start passing the energy back and forth again. The player with the pyramidal resonance will now lock the device by shooting the glowing crystal in the center of the sphere while the plate is powering up. Once eveeryone does this, you'll be able to deposit your resonance into a chest that appears in the back center of the arena. Doing this will trigger damage phase.

While doing damage, a Warlock well and swords have been quite effective for the raid teams who've cleared this portion of the raid. Complete the above steps until the Herald of Finality is defeated.

During the Herald of Finality's final stand, he will go immune for a brief moment and spawn more Trammel enemies onto the battlefield. Quickly defeat them and finish doing damage to the Herald of Finality to complete the encounter.

Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge Repository Carve a Path Encounter

To complete the "Carve a Path" raid encounter, players will need to collect Pyramidial Resonance, Spherical Resonance, and Square Resonance. The player who kills the Tormentor at the beginning will get a buff that allows them to see the corresponding symbol needed for each side to close their conduit. You'll need to use the correct resonance to close each conduit, as called out by the player who can see what's required.

Once you begin Tormentors will appear on the battlefield and need to be killed to bring energy into the architecture. Doing this will spawn Cabal turrets that should be destroyed immediately. Once the energy is activated, begin passing it between two plates on your section of the map to build resonance. Have each player pick a unique type of resonance and pick it up. Once you each have 3, have a player lock your resonance spire with the correct resonance type. Then deposit all remaining Resonance into each box to continue to the next section. You will need to insert each resonance type into the box to proceed and extend your timer.

Just before the final door of each area, an Unstoppable Incendior will appear and need to be defeated as well as several enemies around the field. Continue upwards until you complete the encounter.

WILMINGTON, Del. — The jurors at  Hunter Biden’s felony gun trial  got a lesson in the ABCs of drug deals Friday, as a DEA agent decoded messages from the first son attempting to score crack cocaine.

Drug Enforcement Administration supervisory special agent Joshua Romig explained at one point  what President Biden’s son meant on May 6, 2018 , when he texted a dealer asking, “Can you get baby powder? The really soft stuff.”

“They are asking for powdered cocaine, not crack cocaine,” said Romig — the last prosecution witness in the trial of Hunter, 54, on charges of of illegally owning a gun while hooked on drugs.

Hunter Biden and Melissa Cohen arrive to court on Friday.

“This is a rudimentary, pretty standard code,” Romig said of that particular request, later adding, “a lot of these messages don’t need interpretation.”

The jury was also shown a July 25, 2018, message to Hunter from someone named Michael saying, “He said 600. Cool??”

Hunter responded: “Ok.”

“$600 for the 10 grams,” Romig translated before commenting. “I think it’s pretty significantly higher than the fair market value.”

On April 18, 2018, Hunter sent another dealer, Clifford O’Brien, a message saying: “If you can be here by 6:45 I can do another 1.4 on topkod [sic] what you owe.”

“He’s asking for another 1.4 grams on top of whatever O’Brien is bringing,” Romig told the jury, adding the amount the first son sought was significantly more than the standard $10 “dime bags” requested by most druggies.

“1.4 grams would be the equivalent of about 14 dime bags of crack cocaine,” he explained.

On April 27, Biden messaged O’Brien again with a photo of a digital scale and chunky white powder on top, saying: “Under any value known to any market in the world what I paid is 60% greater.”

“This to me looks like crack but could also be pressed cocaine,” Romig said, adding: “The person who sent that message is clearly upset the amount is less than what they paid for.”

After Romig wrapped up, prosecutors from special counsel David Weiss’ office rested their case against Hunter and the younger Biden’s team called three witnesses before the weekend break.

First, Hunter’s team called Jason Turner, an employee of StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Wilmington, where the first son bought the .38-caliber Colt Cobra revolver on Oct. 12, 2018.

Turner was questioned about the forms of identification that Hunter provided the shop as part of the background check they conducted before sending him off with the firearm.

Turner testified that the store accepted Hunter’s passport — an uncommon form of identification for gun purchases — supplemented with the first son’s car registration showing his address.

On the gun application form, Turner recalled, “I wrote ‘car registration,'” under the identification section.

But when he was shown the form, the section was blank, prompting him to say, “Where is it? It’s not there.”

Abbe Lowell

The second defense witness, shop owner Ron Palmiere, testified that he was asked by Turner and another employee to approve the use of Hunter’s passport for the screening, which he did.

“I was trying not to hold up the sale,” Palmiere admitted.

The final witness called Friday was Hunter’s eldest daughter, Naomi Biden, whose testimony about seeing her dad in rehab  brought tears to Hunter’s eyes as he sat in court. .

Naomi recalled that when she saw her father at Los Angeles treatment facility The View in August 2018, he seemed at his healthiest point since the death of Beau Biden, Naomi’s uncle and Hunter’s brother, in 2015.

Hunter came to court Friday accompanied by his wife Melissa Cohen Biden, as has been the case during every day of the trial.

Also in court were at least ten supporters, including first lady Jill Biden, Hunter’s stepmom, and Hunter’s aunt Valerie Biden Owens, the sister of President Biden.

Abbe Lowell, Hunter’s lead defense attorney, hugged Valerie in the courtroom at one point, saying: “You have such an amazing family in so many ways.”

Lowell would not say Friday whether he planned to call additional witnesses Monday. First brother James Biden had previously been identified as a potential defense witness.

Lowell added that the defense will decide over the weekend whether Hunter himself will take the stand.

Calling Hunter poses considerable risks to the defense. Prosecutors would almost certainly ask him under oath whether he smoked crack cocaine around the time he purchased the .38-caliber Colt Cobra revolver at the center of the case on Oct. 12, 2018.

Eleven Days in October

A key undertaking during Lowell’s cross-examining throughout the trial has been to distance prosecution witnesses such as Hunter’s ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, former girlfriend Zoe Kestan, and sister-in-law-turned-lover Hallie Biden from Hunter during the 11-day stretch he possessed the gun.

Hallie Biden

Neither Buhle nor Kestan could recall any significant interactions with Hunter during that time.

When Hallie took the stand, she recounted how Hunter would effectively ghost her for long stretches of time before resurfacing almost out of the blue.

Hallie went to a rehab facility in Pennsylvania on or around Oct. 6, 2018, and Hunter joined her for a session.

But then she didn’t see him in person until either the night of Oct. 22 or the morning of Oct. 23.

Hunter Biden

Hunter and Hallie had exchanged text messages during that stretch. But despite her fuzzy recollection, Lowell made her admit that she wasn’t with him until the very end of that 11-day stretch.

Lowell also got Hallie to admit that she couldn’t remember seeing Hunter smoke crack during that time, despite at least two text exchanges suggesting he was using days after buying the gun.

Hallie also recounted discovering drug paraphernalia in Hunter’s truck, which was parked on her lawn on the morning of Oct. 23, 2018, the same day she found the revolver and threw it away.
