Web Design for Everybody

Basics of web development & coding, eric ellingboe portfolio, web design for everyone capstone.

This capstone course is meant to build on the previous 4 courses to have the student build a professional web portfolio. The ability to design and implement a responsive site while adhering to validation and accessibility standards is a requirement. The evolving student implementations will be reviewed each week by capstone peers and teaching assistants to make sure that the student keeps up with the agenda of the course.

Website Design Technique

Choosing a Process

  • Design it from scratch.
  • Design using a template.
  • Design using a framework.

Wireframing the Design

Mobile wireframe sketch.

The first assignment was to create a wireframe for the site. The design sketches created for your site need to show at least two views with a mobile first design scheme. The wireframes were not to utilize color, font, styling etc. but layout, including navigation and possibly content.

Coding and Validating the HTML5

  • The code is expected to be semantically correct.
  • The code also must to validate using the W3 Validator and the WAVE tool.

Styling with CSS3

Styled web page.

This shows the final website. It meets the requirements for validation, responsive design, and styling. The site also includes the 4 unique requirements based on things learned in the previous courses. The 4 items are the image gallary, the image slider, more than 2 responsive screen sizes, and a hamburger flyout menu at the mobile size. Though much of these were based on previously developed code, they all required code changes to work on this site.

Welcome to the Web Design for Everyone Capstone!!! It really is my intention to make sure that everyone who completes this capstone will have a product they are proud of.
