• St. Xavier's University had pretty much open area and the campus was really big. It had many open spaces where students could do their own work and spend some good time.
• It was well equipped with computer labs which consisted of MAC computers as well as windows computer which really helped in learning new skills.
• Our college was in a deserted part of the city and had very less public transport options which led to difficulties for attending class frequently.
• The attendance system is very poor. There is a strict rule for 75% attendance but won't approve sick leaves or Internship leaves.

Admission :

Our eligibility for the mass communication course was 60% in +12 examination with any course. Our application could be found on our university website (www.sxuk.com). The last date of application is generally around the mid of May. Each application fees is Rs. 1000 per course. After the application an entrance test is taken based on the course application. The entrance was pretty easy and mainly had general knowledge questions. The entrance exam was held in online mode. After the exam a selection list is given out based on the entrance test and +12 marks

• Faculties are really great. They put a lot of effort to every student and never hesitates to help.
• The campus is quite big and the canteen is reallly good.
• Giving condonation fees even if someone have medical issues otherwise they don't let them to sit in exams

The admission process was to first fill up a form and deciding what course to take. Secondly they gave us our online entrance exam schedule. Thirdly they took an online exam through Google forms where we has to solve questions within a given duration of time.

The admission process in SXUK was very smooth indeed and yes they have their very own admission exam which is relatively easier to crack than CUET.The exam details are available on the SXUK website only. The only thing which was off about the admission process was the the security deposit being too high.

Hey! The admission process was pretty smooth. I did have to take an entrance exam, and the application process was straightforward. As for the cut-off, it varied depending on the program. Overall, I didn't have any major issues with the admission process.

• Liked the infrastructure which was excellent. The campus was clean, green and secure. The buildings were wellbuilt and so were the classroom. The canteen was great
• The university had many fest, events and societies for the students to participate in.
• The regulat and strictness with the attendence was very tiring.
• 6 classes were held everyday and at the end noone had anymore energy left.

St. Xavier's University, Kolkata presents the B.A. LL. (H) course has a minimum requirement of 45 % in the 10+2 examinations. The candidates undergo the Xavier's Law Entrance Test (XLAT) as part of the admission process. It tests the candidate's general knowledge, mathematical skills, English language skills and other skills needed to be eligible to study law without hindrance. This process is quite seamless as a member of the university's it department will call the candidate and guide them through this process. Unfortunately, at the moment there are no reservation benefits. Improvements that I want to see is that they can try to make their XLAT exam portal a little better as I entered the portal before the exams started and got stuck there and had to shut down my PC to exit it. Thats all.

Admission was based on law entrance exam. 5 merit list were released and reservation were made for STs, SCs, and OBC. People having nice rank in CLAT also got straight admission to the college. Class 12 documents were much needed for the admission.

• The campus is quite big. More construction is still going on.
• The Library is quite good. Many books are their and the environment is also good.
• It's situated at very distant location. There are no things to explore nearby.

The admission process was very smooth and nice. The one thing which you have to keep in mind is that you have to keep looking unto the websites for the availability of the form, otherwise the time of applicability may run out. They conducted an entrance examination before the admission. It was conducted online because of the Covid-19 wave that was happening that time.

• Document(s) related to the loss of job or reduction of income (in case of business) due to COVID-19 pandemic, if applicable.  Document(s) related to any previous Scholarship/Fees Concession/Govt. Aid or Assistance (if received at the last attending School/College/Institute/University).
• Letter of recommendation from the Parish Priest (for Christian Students only).

Note(s): 

• Possessing of mere eligibility does not ensure grant of scholarship
• The decision of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, being the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee shall be final and binding with respect to grant of scholarship.
• Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates with regard to their selection for the above scholarship shall be considered as disqualification.
• Incomplete application with/without supporting documents will be summarily rejected.
• The scholarship committee reserves the right to review, modify or cancel the award due to changes in academic progress or general conduct of the student in accordance with the University rules and regulations.
• If the candidate is found to furnish any false information or recommended for any disciplinary action by the disciplinary committee at any stage of the course, his/her scholarship may stand revoked.
• Applications received after the due date will not be considered.

Other Requirements:

• In case of outstanding sports performance, besides the income criteria, the candidate must have a podium finish in any individual/team event of the national or international level.
• The candidate is expected to take part in at least one social work initiative of the University in the preceding semester.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:  The scholarship offered will be revoked if the candidate:

• Fails to submit the necessary supporting documents relating to the scholarship. 
• Has Arrear Papers in the first 3 semesters of the MBA degree program.
• Doesn’t have a minimum of 85% attendance in the first 3 semesters of the MBA degree program / becomes attendance debarred in any semester. 
• Has any record of disciplinary action against him/her in any of the preceding semesters by the disciplinary committee of the University. 

Note:  If a candidate is eligible for a scholarship under multiple categories, then he/she will be granted the scholarship under only one category which has the highest amount of deduction.

After completing more than sixty glorious years of undergraduate teaching, the Department of Statistics is set to offer MSc in Data Science from the academic year 2022-23.

Data Science is a dynamic interdisciplinary field unifying Statistics, Computer science, Mathematics, Data visualization and integration to solve problems covering a wide range of applications using knowledge extracted from noisy, structured and unstructured data, typically large. From capturing data to communicating results, data scientists play an important role in making high-level decisions in a variety of applications, including strategic business solutions for small, medium and large-scale companies. This course not only includes data mining, programming skills and analysing sets of data but goes beyond to look at the entire data science life cycle.

This course is designed to develop an in depth understanding of the key concepts and technologies in data science, machine learning, visualization techniques, predictive modelling, and statistics.

The students are expected to gain holistic knowledge about various computational platforms available for big data analytics.

Integrating the fields of Statistics, Computer Science and Optimization Techniques, this course intends to create adept and well-versed data scientists by exposing the students to real-world problems in the classroom and through experiential learning.

St Xavier's College Kolkata PhD eligibility criteria include a Master’s Degree or any other Degree with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA/Grade. A candidate who has completed an M.Phil. with a minimum of 55% or equivalent grade is eligible for admission even if his/her marks in master’s degree are less than 55%, provided the candidate has been admitted to M.Phil. by an entrance examination.

• Ph.D. in Management - Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall have a Master’s degree in Management and related fields from a UGC recognized University or a degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

• Note : » A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently- abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures » The candidate will have to appear in the online St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata Research Entrance Test (XU- RET). The duration of the XU-RET will be of two hours and will comprise of 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) of 2 marks each with a total of 100 marks for all Ph.D. programmes. Test will have two sections 50 marks for each. The Section I is on Research Methodology and will test on research orientation, aptitude, research designs, methods and analysis. The Section II will be Discipline specific. For Commerce, English, Economics, Mass Communication, Psychology, Social Work and Law this section will have 25 questions on different areas of commerce and for Management, there will 5 questions each on General Management, Finance, Marketing, HR, and Systems & Operations. » The Research Entrance Test will be followed by an interview on the subject concerned. Candidates who score more than 50% in XURET will be eligible to sit for the Interview. » Candidates who have qualified in the UGC/ CSIRNET or SET / SLET /GATE or have obtained DSTINSPIRE Fellowship /Teacher fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil./ M. Tech / M.D/ M.E./ M. Pharm or equivalent examination in the subject or allied subject (as approved by DRC) shall be exempted from the written test of St. Xavier’s University Research Entrance Test (XURET) conducted by the University but have to qualify in the interview on the subject to be conducted by the appropriate Department Research Committee (DRC), will be eligible for admission.

+ Application and Admission Procedure

• Step 1: Candidate to check the eligibility criteria from the Ph.D. Programmes 2023 Admission Prospectus.
• Step 2: If eligible, candidate to register and apply online and download the Acknowledgement Slip and Application Payment Receipt after successful completion of the application and fee payment procedures.
• Step 3: Candidate to download and fill up the Offline Application Form and send it to the Ph.D. Office with a copy of Acknowledgement Slip and Application Payment Receipt and all other documents as mentioned in the Application Form. Offline Application Form is invalid without online registration and application. (Kindly check the Enclosures List in Ph.D. Programmes 2023 Admission Prospectus)
• Step 4: Eligible candidate will appear for XU-RET and subsequent Interview.
• Step 5: Selection List will be published, and Admission Procedure will be followed. (Kindly check Ph.D. Programmes 2023 Admission Prospectus for detailed information)

+ IMPORTANT NOTES

• MODE OF XU-RET: Internet Based Test (IBT) will be held. The requirements are mentioned below: Minimum System Requirements for Internet Based Admission Test Windows 7 or above, 2 GB RAM or above, Core 2 Duo or above, 64-bit, 20 GB Free HDD Space in ‘C’ drive, Single plug and play color Web Camera with proper driver installed and working. In case of laptop, inbuilt web camera should be activated. Stable Internet connection will be required.
• MODE OF INTERVIEW: Interview will be held physically, and the candidate will be required to come to the University Campus.

+ Ph.D. Programme Fee

• Application Fee: INR 2500 (at the time of Online Application).
• Fee Details : The Annual Fees are to be paid in two equal instalments before the commencement of subsequent semester. Total Annual Fees: ₹1,00,000/- 1st & 2nd Instalment of Annual Fees: ₹ 50,000/- for each semester (to be paid before the commencement of each semester) Fees to be paid at the time of Admission: 1st Instalment of Annual Fees of Year 1 (₹ 50,000/-) and ₹ 10,000/- (Refundable Security Deposit).
• Accommodation : The outstations students may get hostel accommodation in the campus, if available. The hostel charges will have to be paid separately by student as per the University hostel rules.

Rostov Oblast is one of Russia's most populous regions and is the economic and cultural center of Southern Russia. The region is especially notable for being the center of the Don Cossack culture and contains the world's most important Cossack cultural monuments and museums, primarily in Novocherkassk and Starocherkassk. The region was also a major center of anti-Soviet resistance during the Russian Civil War (1918–21).

You will most likely only encounter Russian .In Rostov-on-Don and surrounding villages there is a numerous Armenian population, so you may hear Armenian speech too. All of Rostov Armenians speak Russian, however.

There are domestic flights from virtually any large airport in Russia to Rostov-on-Don ( ROV  IATA ). Rostov also serves as the principal transit junction for the region, trains coming here will come through Voronezh from Moscow .

• Cossack cuisine

The Don River region is a principal wine region for Russia — not that Russian wine is the world's most renowned, but a Russian winery makes for an interesting visit. The town of Tsimlyansk is famous for its Tsimlanskaya champaigne.
