The Quinceanera Ceremony Gifts and their Meaning

The Traditional Ceremony Gifts have special meaning for the Quinceanera celebration, and their honored significance relates to the Quinceanera’s coming of age. The Traditional Ceremony Gifts are special signs of loyalty and commitment to God, family and community. Where the celebration includes the Mass of Thanksgiving, the gifts are presented to the priest for special blessing.

In some Hispanic cultures, the gifts are given to the Quinceanera by “padrinos” (also called godparents or sponsors) specially chosen by the family. The padrinos who give the Traditional Ceremony Gifts are formally recognized, and often are part of the procession for either the church or reception ceremony, or do the presentation of the gifts to the priest for the blessing.

It is customary for the Quinceanera to receive some or all of the following items for her ceremony.

Quinceanera Bible

Bible and Rosary

Important resources to know and keep the word of God in her life.

Quinceanera Bible

A row of young women, visible only from their shoulders to their ankles, in long colorful gowns.

The word quinceañera (pronounced keen-sen-YARE-ah) often refers both to a traditional Mexican or Latin American rite of passage (a girl's 15th birthday) and to the girl being celebrated. Quinceañera combines the Spanish words  quince (KEEN-say), fifteen, and  años (AH-nyos), years. The celebration can be called fiesta de quinceañera or simply mis quince (more common in the Cuban, Dominican, and Puerto Rican traditions).

A quinceañera celebration sometimes begins with a Roman Catholic mass (or church service) giving thanks for the girl making the transition to a young woman. The quinceañera wears a lavish formal gown and carries a matching bouquet. In the weeks prior, she has usually had a professional photography session to capture the elegance of the gown and to immortalize this important year. Many families save for years in preparation for a quince, often spending more than what they would on wedding. The main event is a party with food, dancing, and a band. The young lady often makes a grand entrance as all the guests have been waiting for her arrival.

Other typical components of a fiesta de quinceañera are the selection of fourteen male and female attendants and escorts, called damas and chambelanes , to represent the previous 14 years of life; the quinceañera dancing the first dance with her father; and the quinceañera changing out of flat-soled shoes into her first pair of high-heeled shoes. A doll wearing the replica of the girl’s gown is given a symbol of the last doll/toy. The young woman may be expected to give a speech of recognition and appreciation for her parents and family. Gifts of money are usually given directly to the quinceañera as she goes from table to table thanking her guests for attending.

The history of this rite of passage is similar to the Anglo-American coming out party and debutante season, which was public acknowledgement that a young lady was available to be courted. Some families hold true to this custom and do not allow their daughters to officially date until they are fifteen.

Today many young Latinx UUs do not feel comfortable with this binary gendered custom, yet they would still like to honor the rite of passage in some way. Some of the components here on WorshipWeb are an option for modernizing the tradition to be more inclusive to GLBTQ youth.

50 Quinceañera Gifts for a Beautiful 15 Year Old

Let’s talk about ideas for quinceañera gifts! Turning fifteen is an exciting and important age in every young girl’s life — and especially so when her heritage is Mexican, Latin American, or Caribbean.

A popular religious and social tradition, the quinceañera is much looked forward to, planned for, and is remembered ever so fondly.

As it marks her entrance into young womanhood, quinceañera is an extremely important time for each young woman and deserves to be celebrated.

When it comes to shopping for this momentous occasion, we’ve curated all the best quinceañera gifts so you can show this special lady just how proud you are that she is entering into a wonderful new stage in life.

What Is a Quinceañera?

A quinceañera celebrates the young woman’s life, her importance in her family, as well as her contribution to society as a whole. It’s also the age where she crosses over from a child to a lady.

Her quinceañera will start off traditionally with a visit to Mass with her parents and also her godparents. Then comes the party and celebration!

Quinceañeras commonly include a special dance, the gifting of her last doll from her father (which she then gives to her younger sister or any of the other young girls in the family), lots more dancing, food, and of course, gifts!

Quinceañera Gift Etiquette

Gifts are certainly not required for each and every guest, but common etiquette says not to show up empty-handed.

Even a small token or a handwritten card will be much appreciated and shows that you care.

Some simple ideas include an instant camera (so she can document her day), a beautiful piece of jewelry, a prayer book, or a gift card to her favorite store, restaurant, or coffee shop.

Willing to do more than that? Scroll down for some wonderful quinceañera gift ideas!

Traditional Quinceañera Gifts

Traditional Quinceañera Gifts are, by nature, religious. Quinceañera originated in Aztec and Mayan culture as a celebration of a young girl’s entrance into society as a woman, and her eligibility to marry, bear children, and take on the responsibilities of a female adult.

With the influence of the Spanish and the Catholic church, it retained its roots as a celebration of young womanhood, but took on many religious meanings, as well.

Each of the traditional Quinceañera gifts (given by her parents and godparents) reflect an element of her ties to her faith.

Let’s take a look at some of the more typical religious gift ideas.

The tiara symbolizes the fact that she is a “daughter of the King,” and a princess in the eyes of God.

The scepter represents her acceptance of her responsibilities of being a woman.

The Bible is to remind her of her ties to and dependance on God’s word.

The cross is to remind her of her identity and relationship with God.

Rosary

The rosary is to remind her of the necessity of prayer and its place in her life.

You have your quinceañera dress , you have your court, now it is time to get down to business: let's outline that quince ceremony!! The order of events on your big day is important because you want your whole day to flow together smoothly, while making sure you have time to fit everything in. A huge aspect of this is your ceremony.

The ceremony is the most intimate part of your day. It is also going to be the most thought-out and detailed part. Luckily, a large part of the planning should be done by your priest. Here is the typical quinceañera ceremony outline:

The Quinceañera walks down the aisle: She is typically escorted by her parents, followed by her padrinos , chambelan and court of honor . The Quinceañera meets the priest at the altar, where a special chair has been placed for her.

Quinceanera Mass - While a typical mass is directed at the entire congregation, a quinceañera mass reading is chosen with the Quinceanera in mind and it is directed at her. You might consider discussing a certain theme for your mass reading with your priest.

Presentation of the Quinceanera - After the reading is finished, the Quinceañera will be formally presented as a woman in front of God, her family, and her friends.

Optional: Presentation of Gifts - The presentation of these gifts is optional to have at your ceremony. Some Quinceañeras choose to have some of them at their reception instead.

Crowning of the Quinceañera

The crown or tiara represents how God (the King) sees the Quinceanera as his daughter, making her a princess. The mother of the Quinceanera usually presents the crown, which symbolizes passing on the torch from one generation of womanhood to another.

Bible and Rosary: The presentation of the bible and the rosary are both symbols of the Quinceanera’s faith.

Fresh Bouquet - The Quinceanera presents a bouquet of fresh flowers as an offering to the Virgin Mary.

Quinceañera Church Offering

Ring - The Quinceanera is often given the gift of a ring during her ceremony which symbolizes the infinite love of God. This is sometimes gifted to her by her Padrinos.

Changing of Shoes - This is more often done at the reception before the Quinceanera waltz. The Quinceanera changes from her flats into high heels, to symbolize her change from girl to woman.

The Last Doll - This is another symbol of the end of the Quinceanera’s childhood. The Quinceanera is gifted her last doll, which she passes along to a younger girl.

Something to keep in mind is that your church may have certain requirements for you to complete before you can have a ceremony. Most often this includes being baptized and participating in confirmation classes. Before you delve into the details, meet with your priest to talk about how your quinceanera ceremony order of events will go. 4 Things You Must Have at a Quinceanera Ceremony

The traditions of the quinceanera ceremony date back to Aztec rites of passage from the 15th century . While the quinceanera as we know it didn’t become popular until the 1960s, these traditions represent a rich culture and history.

With so many traditions to choose from, selecting how you’ll celebrate your quinceanera can seem daunting. To give you a hand, we’ve created this quick guide, which highlights four of the must-have elements of a quinceanera ceremony.

Keep reading to make your quinceanera a day you won’t ever forget.

4 Quinceanera Ceremony Must-Haves

Whether or not your quinceanera is a religious right of passage, there are traditional elements that each ceremony should include:

Presentation of the Gifts

Rose ceremony, the quinceanera waltz.

These four elements will help you create lifelong memories of your special day. We’ll go into details about how to make the most of each one below.

The presentation of the gifts is one of the first steps in the ceremony. You can choose who you want to complete this element. Many quinceaneras choose their godparents, members of their family, or even close friends.

No matter who you choose, it should be someone meaningful in your life, who has known you in childhood and will know you in adulthood, since your quinceanera is a rite of passage.

Depending on whether or not your quinceanera is a religious ceremony, some common gifts presented at this time include:

  • Bibles or Bible sets

Some gifts include a combination of the above.

The rose ceremony requires three roses in various stages of blooming. You’ll need a rosebud, a half-opened rose, and a fully-bloomed rose.

This part of the celebration begins with your mother. She’ll offer you the rosebud as a symbol of your infancy and innocence.

Then, your godmother or grandmother will present you with the half-opened rose. This flower is a symbol of your understanding of right and wrong. If your ceremony is a religious one, this also represents the need for Christ in your life.

Finally, your grandmother or an older female relative will present you with the rose in full bloom. This rose not only symbolizes the temporary beauty of youth, but also the importance of your eternal spirit, or soul.

As you began the rose ceremony with your mother, you’ll initiate this waltz with your father. This dance represents your transition from childhood into adulthood and marks the moment in your life after which you can dance with other young men.

Before your quinceanera, you’ll choose a song to dance to . A couple of traditional waltzes are “A Ritmo de Bals” and “Sobre las Olas,” but you can choose your own selection with your parents if you don’t want to use either of those.

Receiving your last doll is a recognition of your growth from childhood. Your doll should wear a quinceanera dress that matches yours, with your name and the date of your quinceanera embroidered on it. The doll should also look like you.

Finishing Touches

From your dress to your tiara, you’ll want to look your best for your quinceanera. These are some of the final touches that will bring your whole celebration together. Like a wedding dress, so much of the celebration depends on what you’ll wear.

6 Quinceanera Traditions: The How & Why Behind the Celebration

Your Quinceanera has deep roots & more tradition than you might think. Check out these 6 Quinceanera Traditions: The How & Why Behind the Celebration.

A quinceanera—also known as a quince años, or quinces—is a way to embrace religious traditions, the virtues of family, and social responsibility. But most importantly, it’s a celebration of your transformation from a young girl into an adult.

It’s your way of telling the world that you’re leaving behind your childish ways and are making a conscious step forward into maturity.

Normally a quinceanera is celebrated when the young girl turns 15, and is somewhat similar to a “Sweet 16.” Naturally, though, as a quinceanera is rooted in Latin culture, there are still many differences.

6 Quinceanera Traditions:

The catholic thanksgiving mass.

As mentioned earlier, the quinceanera, like most Catholic traditions, start with a religious ceremony.

  • You will enter the church in a procession, accompanied by your court, your parents and your godparents.
  • The readings are normally chosen by you, the celebrant, in order to make them more meaningful.
  • You can also opt to read yourself, or have someone special read.
  • After the Gospel and the Homily, you will renew your Baptismal promise, and commit yourself to God and the Virgin Mary.

In line with becoming an adult, this is your way of owning the promise your parents made for you when you were baptized, and make those vows your own.

presentation of gifts quinceanera

Your court first appears when they accompany you into the Church.

  • The original tradition was to have 14 boys — chambelans, escortes, or galans
  • 14 girls — damas
  • and a male escort for the celebrant

The total of 15 couples is meant to symbolize each year of the celebrant’s life.

Now, however, it’s been more common that there are 7 boys, 7 girls, the celebrant and her escort.

  • Invite your closest friends and family members to join you on this, to make the experience more meaningful.
  • The dresses of your court should be similar to each other, and the boys are expected to wear tuxes or other formal dress clothes as well.

This will help the coordination during the reception, where they will all partake in a dance with you.

  • It would be best to sit them down and make sure they understand what they’re getting themselves into, though!
  • If they don’t practice the same customs, they may not know anything about a quince at all.

Father-Daughter Dance

presentation of gifts quinceanera

The first dance at the reception is normally for you and your father.

  • He’ll pick a song of meaning to the two of you – maybe something you two normally dance to at home or is always in the background, or something he has sung to you before.
  • This represents your first public dance and is a way for your father to present you to your guests.
  • This also symbolizes that your father is the first man in our life.

presentation of gifts quinceanera

Hopefully, your court has a dance step or two within them, because traditionally, they’ll take part in a waltz.

  • The Waltz is an elegant and choreographed dance meant to share with them and your escort.
  • With that many individuals, it’s expected to take some time for everyone to catch on, so plan ahead!
  • If you opt not to have a separate father-daughter dance, the first part of the waltz is danced with him. After some time, he will hand you to your escort.

The Quinceanera Gown

presentation of gifts quinceanera

Q by DaVinci Quinceanara Dress Style #80476

As your first “adult dress,” your quinceanera gown will be a lavish one.

  • Traditionally, a lot of tulle is used to achieve a princess look.
  • If you prefer something less extravagant, silk or taffeta are common options as well.
  • Normally, white or a light pink is used, but in more recent times, the celebrant has more options.

Try to keep within the pastel family, though:  The color is supposed to represent purity, a symbol of virginity – and to honor those of more traditional thinking, take their feelings into consideration when it comes to your color choice.

Traditional Quinceanera Gifts

Aside from other birthday presents, you’ll receive some traditional ones from your family. These symbolize different aspects of the party and your transformation into a woman.

High Heels:

presentation of gifts quinceanera

Normally given to you by your parents, they symbolize your first pair of “adult” shoes. In fact, this gift can take on a ritual all its own:

  • Your parents will remove the flats you’ve been wearing all day, and replace them with the heels.
  • Symbolically, your flats represent your childhood, while heels represent your stepping into adulthood.

The Last Doll:

presentation of gifts quinceanera

The doll will traditionally be provided by your father, and may be wearing a similar dress, or sporting a similar hair style as your own.

  • This symbolizes leaving behind your childish possessions, and taking in more mature interests in life and assuming responsibilities.

Fun fact: Some celebrants opt to throw the doll away to a pool of younger girls, the same as a bride throws her bouquet to a group of single girls.

Bracelet or Ring:

presentation of gifts quinceanera

Your godparents may gift you with a piece of jewelry, such as a bracelet or a ring.

  • This symbolizes the undying love God has for you.

presentation of gifts quinceanera

Like the high heels, a tiara is meant to take the place of a simpler headpiece and is placed on your head sometime during the ceremony.

  • It symbolizes that are a princess in the eyes of God.

  • They remind you to keep your ears open to God, and to listen closely to His word.

The Bible is meant to keep your faith grounded, and for you to turn to in times of trouble.

Rosary, Medal or Cross:

Central to the Catholic faith, the Bible expected to play a central role in your life as an adult and to assist you in your prayers.

  • It’s also likely that you’ll receive a medal of a Patron Saint.
  • The medal will differ based on what the gift giver wants for you.
  • Just the same, a cross may be given to symbolize faith in God, yourself and your world.

Being given a scepter, and your acceptance of the same, symbolizes your acceptance of the responsibilities that come with being a woman. It also symbolizes authority.

You may think that a lot of the traditions are over-the-top, and completely irrelevant at this day and age, but traditions do count for something. Embrace them! Don’t shy away.

Quineanera Traditions List

We may have an advertising relationship with the stores we link to in this post. Thank you!

Are you preparing for your quince and wondering what some of the traditions are? Read on to learn more about some basic quinceanera traditions.

Quince Court

A quince court, or Court of Honor, are selected to share in the special day of the quinceanera. They are boys and girls who are family or friends of the quinceanera. The traditional amount is a pretty huge court: 14 damas, 14 chambelanes and 1 chambelan de honor. Very common is the court with 7 damas, 7 chambelanes and 1 chambelan de honor.

More recently, it has become perfectly acceptable to build the court to suit your needs. Maybe you have 4 damas, 4 chambelanes and 1 chambelan de honor. Or, maybe you have all damas and a chambelan de honor. It’s your call–it’s your day and it’s best to do what makes the most sense for your situation ~

Quinceanera Mass

The first part of a traditional quinceanera is a religious ceremony. The mass is a time of celebration and prayer for the quinceanera. There are readings the quinceanera will recite during the ceremony. She will also be presented with gifts during the ceremony. Gifts include one or more of the following: pillow, cross, rosary, Bible, tiara, or other item with meaning. The quince court will be seated in one of the first pews in the church, and parents of the quinceanera and immediate family will also sit in the front.

quinceanera traditions

Quinceanera Reception

Similar to a wedding, following church is the actual reception. If a church service is not part of the event, the quinceanera starts at the party. The party could take place at any kind of venue, from a private home to a grand ballroom, a party in a tent, banquet hall, to even a destination quinceanera. The reception will involve a combination of dinner and dancing.

quinceanera traditions

Probably the most well known quinceanera tradition, a large, fancy ball gown is what quinceaneras typically wear for their big day. This is one of the most amazing parts of the party planning: finding the perfect quinceanera dress. For a long time, most quinceanera dresses were strapless style. Recently, the trend has shifted and although strapless is still popular, other styles are also common. Many dresses feature sleeves, sequins and appliques, cap sleeves, multiple layers. The dresses available now in 2022 are exquisite, and often are quite expensive.

It is a tradition for the quinceanera to carry a ramo, or bouquet. It can be artificial, real, or even made of surprise elements, like paper flowers.

presentation of gifts quinceanera

Quinceanera Waltz

There are two formal dances. The first is the father/ daughter dance. The second is a dance performed by the quinceanera and her court. It is usually choreographed (either by a professional, or by an “expert” family member or friend). It will be the first dance of the evening, and takes place after the meal. After the Waltz, a lot of the pressure is off and you can really enjoy your party! Popular waltzes for quinceaneras are Vals de las Mariposas (Cheyo Carillo), Es Mi Nina Bonita (Vicente Fernandez) and Tiempo de Vals (Chayanne). You can choose any songs you want, and in English or Spanish.

Padrinos and Madrinas

Padrinos and madrinas are patrons of your quinceanera. This means they will play a special role in your day by sponsoring a specific item, such as your ramo, tiara, quinceanera cake, food, venue rental and so on.  Family members, close family friends, and possibly church members will serve as padrinos. There will be Padrinos de Honor, essentially the main padrinos for the event. They will play a role in the quinceanera ceremony, stand with the quinceanera at various times and present the quinceanera with special gifts. These gifts (see: Mass) are first blessed by the Priest.

The last doll is symbolic of the quinceanera leaving her childhood, and receiving one last doll prior to being considered a young lady. Some quinceaneras receive a last doll with a dress matching her specific quinceanera dress. The last doll can also be displayed at the party after it is presented to the quinceanera, and is a keepsake to keep forever. Sometimes instead of a doll, a plush bear will be gifted to the quinceanera.

presentation of gifts quinceanera

Changing of the Shoes

The changing of the shoes is a ceremony performed at the reception, and it involves the quinceanera removing her flat shoes. Her father, or other important male figure in her life, will replace the flats with heels. This is symbolic of the quinceanera growing up and is a popular (and emotional!) quinceanera tradition.

It is traditional to give your guests party favors to take with them at the end of the quinceanera. Favors range from candles, candies, baked goods, or religious items. You may also give special gifts to your padrinos and madrinas, and especially to your padrinos de honor.

  • Pingback: El Ramo de la Quinceanera | Choosing Your Quinceanera Bouquet

Hi so I’ve been getting some questions from my madrinas. Do they all have to match dresses?

They do not need to wear matching dress, sometimes in some they do but they can at least wear the same color to separate them from other guests.

Hello! I am the mother of a soon to be quinceañera(my beautiful daughter!) and I have NEVER done any of this before! I don’t even know where to begin please help!!

I’m turning 15 next year and i have no idea what to do nor where to start.

Hello, Future quinceanera here! I have done a couple of google searches but I am insure if the padrinos have to be married to the church, I have a couple willing to be my padrinos in mind but they are not married to the church.

I need help!! I never had a quince. I am planning one for my daughter in Novemeber and I have no idea where to start

hi , its my sisters quince in november and she doesnt wants a big party shouldt i convince her to do a bigger party ?

I appreciate, result in I discovered just what I was having a look for. You have ended my 4 day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a great day. Bye

Is it important on who gets the crown for the Quincenera ? Is it symbolic for a certain person to get the crown?

Hi Michael, the crown is normally given by the parents. The Mother of the quince typically places the crown. However, it is possible to have a padrino de corona, in that case you may have a specific sponsor for the crown. Even if someone else purchases the crown the mother would be the one to place. I hope this helps! Sarah

Can you please tell me where to download the 12 month planning steps mentioned above? I’m the madrina and the quinceañera’s mom never had one. We don’t need to wait until the last minute! Thanks for your time and help.

Quinceañera Gifts: 9 Ways To Honor a Sweet 15

quinceanera gifts: Woman in red gown walking in the hallway

There’s nothing quite as fun as a quinceañera. It’s a day where everyone can put on their best attire, gather with loved ones, and celebrate a momentous occasion honoring the birthday girl as she crosses this milestone. It’s a day filled with amazing food, dancing, and grandeur. If you’re getting ready for an upcoming quince, you’re probably already thinking about what gift to buy.

Since it’s such an important event, it’s important to put some time and thought into your quinceañera gift. Not sure what to get? We’ve got you covered with this quinceañera gift guide. You’ll find everything from traditional gifts to modern tech tools the birthday girl will use every day.

Quinceañera Gift Guide: 9 Presents for the Sweet 15

quinceanera gifts: Group of girls wearing gowns and smiling at the camera

If you’re heading to a quinceanera, you’ll want to bring an appropriate gift for the special birthday girl. With this guide, you can pick out the perfect present whether you’re going to a traditional quince event or a more modern 15th birthday bash.

1. Religious Relics

quinceanera gifts: Royal Quinceañera Invitation by Greenvelope

Design: Becky Nimoy Stationery

If you’re attending a traditional quinceañera with a special quinceañera mass at the church, consider a religious gift. Religious items like a Bible, rosary, or scepter can be great quinceañera gifts if the young woman practices the Catholic faith. Other options include medals featuring protective saints as well as crosses. The Virgin Mary and Saint Christopher — who offers protection for travels — are good options.

2. Gift Card

There’s a reason gift cards are among the most popular birthday gifts. They let the birthday girl pick out something she’ll love. You can buy a gift card from her favorite store, or you can choose a generic Visa gift card that she can use anywhere she’d like. There is no required amount so you can give whatever you think is appropriate. On average, quinceañera guests spend around $50 on a gift, but this amount can increase or decrease depending on how close you are to the gift recipient.

quinceanera gifts: For a Princess Invitation by Greenvelope

Design: Claudia Owen

Honor the 15-year-old girl with a stunning tiara that makes her feel like a princess on her special day. This birthday gift can be as fancy or simple as you want. You can choose a custom-made tiara if the honoree is a close family member, or you can opt for a simpler design. To take this birthday present up a notch, add an engraving on the inside with the date or a special phrase like “mis quince.”

quinceanera gifts: Twinkly Tiara Invitation by Greenvelope

Design: Bonjour Berry

You can never go wrong with a beautiful piece of jewelry . You can opt for a personalized necklace or choose birthstone jewelry like earrings, rings, or bracelets. If you don’t know the birthday girl very well, look for a simple design. If you’re closer to the quince honoree, you can look for pieces of jewelry that suit her style and personality to make the gift even more special.

With jewelry, there’s a great gift option for every budget. Sterling silver and gold-plated designs are more affordable, or you can select a fancier gift by choosing real yellow, white, or rose gold and authentic gemstones.

5. Keepsake Box

A keepsake box is a great way to celebrate the birthday girl’s coming of age. The special lady can look back fondly on her big day every time she sees the box. To make this gift extra special, place a piece of jewelry inside.

6. Gift Basket

quinceanera gifts: Llama Love Invitation by Greenvelope

Design: Sogi’s Honey Bakeshop

A quinceañera is all about spoiling the birthday girl. Spoil the birthday girl with a pampering spa kit or gift basket. You can create your own kit with individual items or you can order pre-made baskets on sites like Amazon and Etsy .

Some gift basket items to include are: bathrobes, candles, face masks, or tasty treats like chocolates, snacks, and charcuterie. For something that celebrates Latino culture, look for traditional textiles and add fun elements like llamas or Latin American treats like Gansitos, Takis, and Alfajores.

7. Tech Tools and Cases

In today’s modern world, quinceañera gifts aren’t just the traditional rosaries and jewelry. Since this day celebrates a not-so-little girl coming of age, tech tools are a great way to honor their future potential. If you’re close to the birthday girl, a tablet or computer can support their educational goals. Alternatively, you can select a case or tote that the teenage girl can use to carry her supplies to and from her school and extracurricular activities.

8. Trip Tickets

Parisian Quince Invitation by Greenvelope

Design: Loree Mayer Design

If you’re very close to the birthday girl, give her the trip of a lifetime. It’s a great way to reflect on her coming of age and celebrate the bright future in front of her. To make this gift great, talk to her parent or parents to decide on an ideal locale. This can include somewhere local, like a national park or a yoga retreat, or somewhere international, like Europe or Latin America. You should also discuss who will accompany the young lady on the trip if needed.

Instead of a trip, you can also give tickets to an event or show. Find out the girl’s favorite musical artists or ask if there’s an event she has her heart set on attending. It’s best to buy at least two tickets so she can bring a friend. If the tickets are pricey, team up with other family members or friends to buy this item as a joint gift.

Grandmother giving quinceanera gift to girl.

It’s not a requirement that guests bring a gift to a quinceañera. However, good guest etiquette says you still should. Even a small gift shows your support for the young lady and her family. So whatever you gift, even if it’s a handwritten card, is sure to be appreciated.

The most important thing to remember about gift giving for a quinceañera is that the event is for family. Therefore, even if you give a nontraditional gift, it still needs to be appropriate. For example, monetary gifts, gift cards, jewelry, or a personalized album would all be appropriate, even if they’re not traditional. If you’d rather stick to tradition, common gifts for a quinceañera include crosses and medals, Bibles, scepters, tiaras, and Rosaries.

There’s no specific required gift amount for a quinceañera. The monetary gift amount will likely depend on your relationship to the hosting family, the size of the party, and your ability to give. Typically, an average gift amount will be no less than $50. That amount will increase if you have a closer relationship with the family, or if you’re helping to pay for part of the party.

Looking for a quinceañera gift as special as the birthday girl herself? If so, make sure to check out the gift ideas below. And if you’re looking for even more gift inspiration, make sure to visit our resource on gifts for her .
