A short paragraph on saving water can help children learn the importance and use of water and how important it is to use it carefully.

Water is a natural resource that is essential for living on earth. Without water, the earth would be dry, and plants, animals, and humans would not be able to survive. Additional uses include irrigation, washing clothes, cooking, cleaning, etc. We all know that water is not an unlimited resource, and it is important we do not waste it. Daily practices like leaving the taps open while brushing, shaving, etc., cause water wastage. We should not throw garbage in water bodies because polluted water bodies affect marine life and human health when we consume seafood. Shortage of water causes diseases and damages agriculture too.

A short essay for classes 1, 2 and 3 will help young ones understand the use of water and the importance of conserving it. It will also enhance their writing skills.

Our planet earth is covered with around 71 per cent water. When seen from outer space, it appears blue and is also called the blue planet. Air and water are what make life possible on earth. Plants, animals, and humans need water to survive. Water is necessary for bathing, cooking, irrigation, washing, etc. Industries like mining, petrochemical, electricity, food, etc., rely on large quantities of water for their activities. However, in recent times we use water as it is an unlimited resource. No care is taken to use it judiciously. Discharging industrial and domestic waste in water bodies causes pollution. It affects marine life too. Water scarcity leads to drought and poverty and impacts the nation’s economy badly. Therefore, steps must be taken to conserve water. Rainwater harvesting, reusing water, awareness programs in schools, closing taps after using them, and disposing of wastes in bins are a few steps we can take as responsible citizens to save water. Storing running water in dams, using water cans instead of hosepipes, installing canals on rooftops, and adopting bucket baths instead of showers are small initiatives that significantly save water. Acting responsibly in this matter will benefit the present generations and the generations to come. So, saving water, saving nature, and saving our future generations should be our motto.

The save water essay for class 3 kids seeks to explain the importance of water in our daily lives, why water is essential for the planet and the activities that cause water pollution in recent times. The importance of a water conservation essay is such that children learn about the problems our planet faces and can act towards making the situation better.

What Is Water Conservation?

Water conservation means the practice of using water efficiently wherever possible, thereby minimising its wastage. It includes all steps taken to preserve water bodies, freshwater sources, and our daily requirements without polluting or wasting them.

Necessity And Importance Of Saving Water

Water, as we all know, is a vital resource for the existence of life on earth. Though its supply seems abundant, the percentage of available freshwater is even less. Global warming and constant climate change have led to delayed rains, causing water scarcity. An increase in population, the rapid development of industries and polluted water bodies have further worsened the issue. Without proper conservation efforts, the chances are that we might exhaust it. Saving water has economic and social benefits. Besides, protecting water resources for future efficient use reduces wastage and contributes to energy-efficient operations.

What Are The Different Uses Of Water?

Water is used for a variety of needs, and the major ones are listed below:

  • For daily activities:  Bathing, cleaning, washing, and cooking require water on a daily basis.
  • Industrial uses:  Water is needed in large quantities in mining, food, chemicals, and several other industries.
  • Agricultural needs:  Watering is essential for the survival and growth of plants.
  • Ecosystem balance:  The water cycle is important for rains and the balance of the ecosystem.

Causes And Effects Of Water Shortage

1. Causes of water shortage:  Around 70 per cent of the earth is covered with water, but only 3 per cent of it is available for use. Therefore the availability is limited, and hence careless usage causes a shortage. An increase in population, rapid industrialisation, and climatic changes are major causes of water shortage.

2. Reasons for freshwater storage and how to store it:  The need to keep freshwater stored arises due to careless use in daily activities, pollution of water bodies by dumping sewage, pesticides, chemicals, etc. Rainwater harvesting, installation of canals on rooftops, and utmost care not to waste water during brushing, shaving, and similar activities are a few methods to store it.

3. Effects of water shortage:  Water scarcity causes drought and severely affects agriculture, plants, animals, and human beings. Industrial activities will come to a stop without water and, in the long run, affect the economy as a whole.

What Are The Best Ways To Save Water?

  • Use rainwater for watering plants, laundry, etc.
  • Turn off taps when not in use.
  • Participate in save water save nature programmes.
  • Water plants in the evening to reduce evaporation.
  • Prefer a bucket bath instead of a shower.
  • Check for any leaks in taps.
  • Use washing machines in full loads.
  • Invest in low flush toilets.
  • Be cautious while washing cars.
  • Don’t wash parking areas or garages daily.

The need to save water is at an all-time high, and educating children about its importance contributes a long way. Through this essay, your child will learn how important water is for lives on earth and the problems water shortage can cause. It also introduces them to water conservation and various steps that can be followed to achieve the same. They will learn how to participate in the idea of saving water by taking small steps to conserve water and thereby help preserve the earth.

Water is what makes the earth habitable; therefore, it is our responsibility to use it judiciously. And we should start sensitising our kids about it.

Short Story On Save Water Save Life

“Water is one of the important elements which we need for surviving. Water is very precious to our life. We should conserve water and spread awareness on conservation of water.” - these are things which we have read and heard innumerable times, but do we really understand the urgency of the ‘water saving’ quotes? Let us give a reality check.

Horrifying Data on Water and Life!

On average, a human body requires 3.7 litres of water per day. At present, on Earth, approximately there are 775.28 crores of people drinking water every day, which means on average, 2868.536 crores litres of water are required per day to stay alive in this mortal world! Now, do you know what is the water constituent of the Earth? It is only 3%! Nearly about 65% of drinking water is stuck in glaciers, while only 1% of potable water is present in rivers, lakes, and other water bodies. After this grave data, we probably now understand the urgency of the water-saving quotes and the importance of water management.

Not to Scare But to Make an Aware – Save Water Save Life

The figures were not to raise an alarm but to make you aware and update you about the importance of water conservation.

In this context, we are going to talk about water conservation and its importance, also we are going to narrate a short story on – save water, save life.

A Short Story On – Save Water Save Life

There was a village boy named Sadhu. As a kid, he always used to rhyme “Water is a necessity! Water is important! Water is life!” He never wasted a single drop of water rather saved water and continued rhyming his rhyme on saving water. Years later, people in his village used water recklessly, but Sadhu did not. He tried to warn everybody and make them aware about saving water but none paid any heed to the little boy’s warning or rhyming.

Sadhu even showed how not to waste water. He demonstrated how to brush the teeth turning the tap off, using a bucket and a mug for bathing, and other such saving water tricks but still the people did not care much.

Months went by, winters came. On a cold and frosty morning, the villagers woke up to find that there was no water. They called out to each other to check if anyone had water, but alas! no one had a single drop. They could not drink any water, wash their clothes, or take a bath the whole day.

Finally, the villagers then approached Sadhu. They repented for their mistake of not saving any water. Sadhu reminded them of the importance of water. Sadhu was a kid so they allowed every villager to take a bucket of water that he had stored in the tank during the summer days. The villagers thanked Sadhu and promised themselves never to waste water.

The next day, by god’s grace, the village welcomed winter rains. Their wells and tanks were again filled with sparkling water. Everyone in the village glittered with joy!

After this learning, the villagers saved water and rhymed like Sadhu “Water is a necessity! Water is important! Water is life!”

Thus, do you see the importance of water? If we run out of water in a single day, it becomes hard for us to survive.

How Can You Save Water?

save water

Turn off the tap while you are brushing your teeth.

Simple tricks and tips on saving the water will go a long run. As responsible earthlings, it is our prime duty to save water for the next generation. So, we all must come together and save water so that we do not face any day like the villagers faced in the story of Sadhu.

June 19, 2020 by Prasanna

10 Lines on Save Water: Water is the most precious element in the nature that God has gifted us. It is one of the few elements in the nature that makes Earth the only planet in the solar system to sustain life. Without water, there would be no life on earth. But man has not been able to realise the importance of water and has been exploiting this natural resource to feed his ever-increasing need and greed.

It is said that the next World War will take place between countries for freshwater because of the fact that only 3% of the entire water body on earth that is actually portable and consumable.

You can read more  10 Lines  about articles, events, people, sports, technology many more.

Set 1 – 10 Lines on Save Water for Kids

Set 1 is helpful for students of Classes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

  • Water is the most precious element on Earth and it needs to be saved at all cost
  • Without water, there would be no life on earth as we know it

  • Only 3% of the entire water on the planet is freshwater which means only 3% of the entire water resource can be consumed
  • Water is required for various purposes like agriculture, industries, domestic purposes like drinking baking and cooking
  • Some of the major sources of freshwater are river water, lakes, groundwater and rainwater
  • One of the most popular and easy ways to save water is rainwater harvesting
  • There should be educational awareness campaigns on how to use water judiciously both on a domestic level and on a business level
  • It is predicted that the next World War will be fought for water and the symptoms are already seen between India and Pakistan for Indus water and in the African Nations for Nile river water
  • There should be a proper International consensus to use the water across borders without having to exploit and drain all of it from the river beds

10 Lines on Save Water for School Students

Set 2 – 10 Lines on Save Water for School Students

  • The water on earth falls into three categories which are saltwater, brackish water and freshwater
  • Freshwater is the only category of water that is consumable by plants and animals
  • Water is a big issue among neighbouring countries because water has no man-made boundaries and flows across borders, for example Indus river that flows between India and Pakistan
  • Water issue between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for Cauvery river has been in existence for the last 40 years in India
  • There comes a time when we have to choose between using water between agricultural purposes and drinking purposes and cannot afford to do both

  • The population explosion, rapid industrialisation, globalisation and economic growth around the world are taking a toll on the limited resources of natural water on the planet
  • Given the fact that only 3% of all the water on the planet is freshwater, we can’t afford to use this non-renewable resource irresponsibly
  • There are certain African Nations who are already suffering from drought and desertification because of the irresponsible use of water over the last few centuries
  • In India, the arid regions of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka are facing drought every year because proper use of water resources is not inculcated among the people
  • Data-driven centralised servers and technology should be used to keep track of the amount of water used by people in cities so that the pattern of usage can be found out
  • To save water, the general masses have to be incentivized which means high taxes on the water is one of the solutions to make people use water responsibly
  • In cities like Bangalore or Hyderabad, which doesn’t have seasonal rivers flowing in, rainwater harvest and building of lakes and embankments should be done so that they become independent from river water usage
  • The construction of artificial tanks and lakes should be encouraged so that the water collected in these can be used for domestic purposes in cities
  • If water is not saved today, then there would be no water for the next generation to survive on and the world as we know it will come crashing down.

Some people watch the Olympics for the events. Others watch for the hot athletes.

This is nothing new. Going all the way back to the first century, the orator Dio Chrysostom praised the “beauty” of the boxer Melankomas, who competed in the ancient Greek athletic games .

That same feeling resonates in 2024. A number of participants in the Paris Summer Olympics have distinguished themselves for things beyond their athletic talent. In an extreme case, a pole-vaulter gained a great deal of attention — some might say notoriety — for failing in a unique way. Others caught the public’s attention through moments of love or kindness — a different but equally palpable form of beauty.

There are numerous options to choose from, but here are 10 moments of beauty at the games.

A man in a black warm-up suit that says “Italia” holds both arms in the air as others stand around him.

After Italy won bronze in the 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay on July 27, the Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon, 23, raised his arms in celebration. In doing so, he unintentionally bared his well-cut abs , which had many thirsting on the internet .

(Ceccon, who won gold in the 100-meter backstroke, was later found sleeping on the ground next to a bench in Olympic Village after he had complained about the conditions at the village.)
