VTU PhD admissions 2023 will be opening soon. The notification is expected to be out by January 2023. The application mode for the program will be online. The opening date for application form is expected to be February 2023. Admission to this program is granted based on the research entrance test which will tentatively be held in March/April 2023. The results of the entrance test will be displayed by June 2023.

VTU offers a full-time PhD program in 9 specializations. The duration of the program is 3-5 years. Candidates need to appear for VTU ULRAT[University Level Research Aptitude Test]/VTU ETR[eligibility test for research] and the interview to be admitted to the program. UGC / UGC-CSIR JRF / SLET / CAT / GATE / NET qualified candidates and M.Phil degree holders are exempted from the entrance test. The PhD program fee is approximately 25k per year.

VTU Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

• The university admission committee considers only those students eligible for PhD who have a master’s degree in technology or engineering from a recognized university in the country.
• The basic eligibility of the applicant will be based on the scores obtained by him/her in post-graduation and the university expects a minimum of 60% aggregate here. Equivalent to this in CGPA system, a 6.5 is required from all students.
• Applicants should also have a bachelors degree in technology or engineering with their scores being minimum 70% or a 7.5 CGPA out of 10.
• Candidates should have obtained patents or published research papers in order to be eligible for the Ph.D. program at VTU.
• All applying students for the Ph.D. program must give the entrance exam conducted by VTU to determine the candidate’s eligibility. The final selection will be based on whether the student has given the eligibility test or not.
• Full time Ph.D. students must have a guide from any of the 130 research centres that VTU has to be eligible for filling in the application form. The required documents for application have to be submitted through the guide only.
• Part time Ph.D. students have to present their employment certificate so they can be eligible for the part time program that the University offers.

VTU Ph.D. Selection Criteria

• A student will only be considered for PhD if he had maintained good grades in his/her graduate and post graduate study. Minimum required aggregates have to be fulfilled by the student in order to be selected.
• Minimum marks have to scored by the applicants in the VTU eligibility test that is conducted for selection of candidates. It is a qualifying exam which further sends students to the interview session when final selection is done.
• A merit list is issued by VTU for candidates who have cleared the eligibility test stage and then the selected students move onto the interview stage. This is where the admission panel has a counselling session with the applicant.
• Selected candidates are then allotted the research centre and guide they had selected previously and their documents are sent for final verification. All these candidates are given provisional admission once the fee is paid.
• Selected students have to now submit a synopsis of their research title through their guide and the assigned research centre. Upon evaluation, the candidate is given a permanent seat in the program.

How to Apply for VTU Ph.D?

Registration:.

• Applicant first has to find a guide of the stream from the research centre of VTU. The research centres that are affiliated to VTU have been listed on the official website for students to check.
• Once the guide is finalised, he/she will upload the application form with required documents on the official VTU website.
• The application fee of 700/- has to be paid next by the candidate and the online payment receipt should also be printed for submission.
• Hard copy of the application form along with the online fee payment proof has to be forwarded to the university with a NOC from student’s institution and his/her signature.
• As soon as the application form reaches the university, the student will be notified about the further application procedure and registration details.

• Migration certificate, if from outside the state

Faculties are highly knowledgeable and with 100% interest, they put lots of effort to make students understand the concept. Each class has about 55 to 60 students. Monthly internal exams are taken thrice a semester and at the end of each semester, an external exam is there. External exam papers and checking are done by VTU University. If we study the prescribed textbook thoroughly they we can score very decent marks in the final exam. Everything marking, paper setting etc is done fairly since it comes under VTU. Under VTU more than 200 colleges come under so you can imagine how reputed VTU university is and so is the final degree provided also have a lot of value outside the college. I choose the computer science course because this course is recommended by my father and the main reason for taking this course is that because this course had a great demand in the future. Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU) has released the Ph.D 2023. Regulation (Minimum Standards and Procedure for the Award of Ph.D. Degree), As per the regulations released by VTU the minimum duration of the programme for the award of Ph.D degree is 3 years for full time and 4 years for part time including course work and the maximum duration is 6 years for all from the date of admission to Ph.D programme 

Ph.D integrated programme minimum duration is 5 years, Female Research scholars may be provided Maternity Leave / Child Care Leave upto 240 days in the entire duration of the Ph.D programme 

The Ph.D programme by the Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU) will be offered in two categories – Part time and Full time in the university department, its constituent colleges, affiliated colleges and research centers at other institutes 

Candidates possessing Masters Degree in Engineering / Technology are eligible to apply for the Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU) Ph.D programme in Faculty of Engineering, Candidates with PG in MBA are eligible to apply for the Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU) Ph.D programme in Faculty of Management, Candidates with M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology, MCA are eligible to apply for the Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU) Ph.D programme in Faculty of Applied Sciences, Candidates with Masters Degree in Architecture are eligible to apply for the Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU) Ph.D programme in Faculty of Architecture

1. You must approach the designated coordinator of your research centre for filling your exam form. The coordinators are appointed by the head of the College.

2. You must take two copies of your exam application and the hall ticket from the coordinator and sign them and submit.

3. Also get the signature of the Guide and Head of Institute/ Principal on the copies.

Last Date to submit Exam Form

The  last date to submit exam form for Phd is 8th Jan 2024. VTU will release the timetable shortly.

VTU Exam Form Phd 2022 applications are invited for Coursework exam of research candidates. The research candidates having USN XXX18XXXXX, XXX19XXXXX and Re-registered research scholars may apply for the exams. The exams will be held in Feb 2022.

1. You must approach your coordinator for filling your exam form. The coordinators are appointed by the head of the College.

2. You must take two copies of your exam application and the hall ticker from the coordinator and sign them and submit.

The  last date to submit exam form for Phd is 28th Jan 2022.

The examinations will start from 3rd week of February 2022 tentatively.

VTU Exam Form Phd released today. By the directions of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, the Coursework examinations of Ph.D. & M.Sc. (Engg.) by Research will be held in the month of Nov-Dec 2020. In light of the above, VTU invites online applications for the Coursework Examinations from the Registered Research Scholars having USN XXX17XXXX, XXX18XXXXX and XXX19XXXX (Registered for Ph.D. and M.Sc. (Engg.) by Research Programs).

Prerequisites for filing examination application form by the research scholars registered during 2018 and 2019:

1. In compliance With the amended 2017 regulations dated 3rd Sep 2020, the Doctoral Committee shall be constituted.(applicable to non-constituted).

2. Select coursework subjects as per the regulations.

3. Submit the above documents to the Registrar (Evaluation) and Email the scanned copy to [email protected].

4. Refer to the enclosed formats for Doctoral Committee formation and Coursework selection confirmation. On fulfilling the above requirements, 2018 and 2019 batch research scholars will be allowed to submit the examination application form.

NOTE: Approved copy (approved by the Registrar, VTU) of change of coursework, if any, must be submitted to the office of the undersigned before 17th October 2020.

Procedure for Filing Online VTU Exam Form Phd

1.The Heads of Research Centres are to identify a coordinator for filing examination application forms.

2.The coordinator shall send an email requesting for a User ID and Password to [email protected] along with name, designation and mobile number and e-mail ID.

3.User ID and password will be provided to the coordinator through e-mail.

4.Visit http://prexam.vtu.ac.in and select PhD/ MSc (Engg .) Application. Login with the user ID and password provided by VTU.

5.Coordinator can download the user manual for ready reference.

Instructions to Candidates

2.Approved copy (approved by the Registrar, VTU) of change of coursework, if any, must be submitted to the office of the undersigned before 17th October 2020.

3.Only research candidates having USN XXX17XXXXX, XXX18XXXXX and XXX19XXXXX are eligible to apply.

4.The fee has to be paid by the candidate at the research centre.

5.Keep ready all the information required for filing examination application form along with the selected course work subjects.

6.Keep ready the soft copy of your photo to upload to examination application form and the size of the same shall not be more than 60 KB.

7.Approach the designated coordinator of your research centre to file the examination application form along with required documents.

8.Take two print copies of application and Hall ticket from the Coordinator and put your signature and get the signature of the Guide and Head of Research Centre.

9.It is the responsibility of the candidate to ascertain the correctness of the application and the hall ticket. In case of any discrepancy, the same must be immediately reported to the Registrar (Evaluation), in writing, forwarded through the guide and head of concerned research centre.

Instruction to Coordinators

1.Only research candidates bearing USN XXX17XXXXX, XXX18XXXXX and XXX19XXXXX are eligible to apply.

2.Candidates shall approach the coordinator for filing examination application form along with requisite information viz., softcopy of photo, fee receipt, DC approved subjects list/ hard copies of the syllabus etc.

3.Coordinators shall collect all the information from the candidate and file the examination application form, after ascertaining the eligibility of the candidate.

4.Provide two print copies of the application and hall ticket (student copy) to the candidate to get the signature of the guide and head of research centre.

5.Collect duly signed two copies of the application and hall ticket (Research Centre Copy and University Copy) from the candidate.

6.Retain one copy with the research centre and submit remaining copies to the office of the Registrar (Evaluation), VTU Belagavi.

7.Submission of Enclosures:

a)One Copy of the examination application

b)One Copy of the Hall Ticket

c)Online Fee Receipt for the consolidated fee payment

d)Wherever applicable, syllabus for the courses for which the examination application form is submitted.

8.Last date for submission of the above documents in hard copy by the research centres is 8th Nov 2020. Also, to submit research scholars fee payment made.

1. Visit Researcher portal http://researcher.vtu.ac.in

2. Supervisor to login with their credentials.

3. On the menu, navigate to "Candidate-> Application Forms" Icon.

4. In the "Candidate Application forms" page click the "Progress tracker" Icon.

5. In the progress tracker page select "Coursework Selection" Icon.

6. Select all coursework subjects as per regulations , by following Step-1 and Step-2 to complete the coursework selection process.(Instructions to be followed are also provided in the page.

On fulfilling the above requirements , 2018 and 2019 batch research scholars will be allowed to submit the examination application form .

TBILISI, Georgia (AP) — Georgia’s ruling party on Tuesday introduced draft legislation curtailing LGBTQ+ rights.

The proposals by the Georgian Dream are similar to laws enacted in Russia and come on the heels of the authorities adopting another law critics denounced as borrowed from Moscow’s playbook — the “foreign influence” law. It ignited weeks of mass protests and was widely criticized as threatening democratic freedoms and jeopardizing Georgia’s chances of joining the European Union.

If adopted, the bill will ban same-sex marriages, gender-affirming care and changing one’s gender marker in the official documents, adoption by same-sex couples, public endorsement of same-sex relations at gatherings and at educational institutions, and depiction of same-sex relations in the media.

The new initiative was announced by parliament speaker and Georgian Dream member Shalva Papuashvili just a day after he signed the “foreign influence” law into force.

The “foreign influence” law requires news media and nongovernmental organizations to register as “agents of foreign influence” if they receive more than 20% of their budget from abroad. It set off mass protests last month in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, and opponents have dubbed it the “ the Russian law ” because it resembles regulations in Russia that the Kremlin uses to crackdown on dissent.

Georgia’s President Salome Zourabichvili vetoed the bill, but the parliament overrode her veto, and on Monday Papuashvili signed it into the law.

Georgian Dream’s proposals curtailing LGBTQ+ rights could also draw comparisons to laws in place in Russia. The Russian authorities over the last decade also banned public endorsement of “non-traditional sexual relations,” gender-affirming care and changing of one’s gender in the official documents.

In the latest step against the already beleaguered community, Russia’s Supreme Court effectively outlawed LGBTQ+ activism by labeling what the authorities called the LGBTQ+ “movement” operating in Russia as an extremist organization and banning it.

Some Russia-watchers are rather surprised that it was not only easier, but much more pleasant and rewarding, for foreigners to deal with Mr Gorbachev, when he was still (pretending to be?) a convinced communist, than it is to negotiate with Mr Putin, who is (pretending to be?) a fervent Christian and wholehearted supporter of the Moscow Patriarchate. This apparent paradox is no surprise to Keir Giles, who is more inclined to stress the continuity of, rather than the change in, Russian behaviour over the centuries. For him, the notion that things will somehow sort themselves out fairly soon after Putin is succeeded by, conceivably, a more accommodating individual, is ludicrously simplistic and even dangerous. Perhaps, one might add, a small, densely populated country like Japan (127 million) can change quite quickly, but not a huge, sparsely populated (at most, 144 million) Great Power like eternal Russia.

This is how I read Moscow rules , bearing in mind that ‘Moscow’ here could be both a noun and an adjective and ‘rules’ both a noun and a verb. This ambiguity is telling. After all, how significant were the coup and counter-coup in Moscow in late 1991? Did they really lead to a revolution, as the coup in Petrograd did in late 1917, or, basically, to more of the same? Giles, questionably, writes that the Cold War (as he understands it) really is over and that Russia is currently going through a post-Soviet, not a neo-Soviet, period. But what's in a name? The tsarist (Giles knowingly always spells it in the old-fashioned way, czarist, except when quoting others) heritage is every bit as important as, or perhaps even more important than, the 70-odd years of communist, atheist rule. At the very least, readers might add, because the ‘Soviet’ period lasted about six times as long as the Nazi period in Germany, it may well take Russia(ns) some six times as long to get over it. There can be no quick fix, only the long haul. After the defeat of Nazism, most Germans atoned for the Holocaust. After the collapse of communism, the Russians chose not to show much repentance for the Gulag, selecting instead as the foundation stone of the ‘new’ Russia the victory in the Great Fatherland War (1941–5). Indeed, the ‘Wall of Mourning’ monument recently opened in Moscow even suggests that those responsible for the Gulag should be forgiven—unlike, presumably, those responsible for the Holocaust and the invasion of the USSR.
