# Applicants appearing in NTA’s PhD Entrance Test should see the test codes of NTA and choose the right code for filling up their forms. The codes are given in Appendix-1 attached to this Information bulletin.

  • 1) 50% of the Seats Declared shall be filled through BHU-RET – Exempted mode and remaining 50% through NTA’s PhD Entrance Test and BHU-RET mode as the case may be.
  • 2) In case a particular discipline has one (1) seat only, then it will be allocated to NTA’s PhD Entrance Test mode. However, if that the particular discipline is not in the list of NTA’s Entrance Test then it will be filled through BHU-RET Exempted mode.
  • 3) If the number of seats declared is more than one and in odd number(s) then after distributing the seats in equal proportion (50:50), the remaining one (1) seat will be filled through NTA’s PhD Entrance Test or BHU-RET mode as the case may be.

BHU Varanasi PhD Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria

  • A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination securing the minimum percentage of marks on the last date of filling of online application of NTA Ph.D. Entrance Test /BHU – RET/ BHU-RET-Exempted 2023.
  • Master’s degree in the concerned subject OR in any one of the allied subjects with at least 55% or equivalent grade in the aggregate.
  • There shall be a relaxation for SC/ST and PwD candidates in the minimum marks required in the qualifying examination as per rules..

BHU Varanasi PhD Admission 2023 Selection Process

a) BHU-RET-Exempted: The BHU-RET Exempted Admission eligible Mode will be under UGC/CSIR/ICMR/ICAR/DBT and other Government Testing Agencies/ other National Level Tests.

b) Research Entrance Test : (i) BHU RET: BHU’s will conduct Research Entrance Test in those disciplines which are not mapped with NTA Ph.D. Entrance Test; and (ii) NTA’S Ph.D. ENTRANCE TEST: Under this mode the student will appear in those disciplines for which Research Entrance Test mentioned in prospectus.

Research Entrance Test shall be held tentatively in the month of October. The Exact Date of the Tests, Test Centres, Procedure, Provision for Scribe in case of PwBD candidates etc. shall be Notified Later and details will be put on the website.

The final selection of the Candidate will be made based on his score in three components namely

  • a. NET/NTA’s PhD Entrance Test /BHU-RET Score
  • b. Academic Performance Index,
  • c. Marks Obtained in Interview

Only those candidates shall be eligible to apply in this application process who have obtained their qualifying degree of the Academic session 2022-23 or before and who is a recipient of National Doctoral Fellowship or other fellowships from government/semi-government organizations (through All-India selection procedure conducted by the agency/ organization for award of research fellowships) such as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Ayurveda Yoga Unani Siddha Homeopathy (AYUSH) and similar National Level Organizations prior to 1st January 2023.

BHU RET 2022 Exam Pattern for PhD

 RET will have two components

  • Test A:  Test A will be based on Subject Knowledge, Logical and Analytical Capability and Research Methodology.
  • Test B:  Test B will cover Personal Interview to test aptitude for research.

TEST – A is aimed as to assess the subject knowledge of the candidate at the Master’s level in the concerned subject and related area. It will also contain the questions on research methodology.

Tests A will be held in one sitting in the Test Centres of RET.

40% questions related to methodology will cover the following aspects : Foundation of Research, Problem identification and formulation, Research design, Qualitative and Quantitative Research, Measurement, Sampling, Data Analysis, Interpretation of Data, Use of Encyclopedias and tools, Paper Writing etc.

Other 60% questions would be of Master’s level of the subject and areas concerned.

03 (three) marks for correct answer and 01 (one) mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

Test – B will cover Research proposal and Personal Interview.

Candidate, approximately four times of the seats, based on merit, may be called for Test B.

All eligible RET-exempt category candidates shall also take TEST-B of the selection process.

  • The Test – B will be conducted in the concerned department/school/centre by a Board to be appointed for the purpose and will carry a total of 30 (thirty) marks for personal interview. The marks to be awarded to the candidates in the Personal Interview may not be below 9 and above 24. In case a candidate is awarded marks below 9 and above 24, detailed justifications may be noted by the interview committee in its proceedings against each such candidate
  • The Interview Board will ask questions relating to the area in which the candidate expects to undertake research, if selected, to test his/her competence for research in the discipline.
  • A candidate applying in more than one discipline, will appear at Test B separately in each of the disciplines for which he/she has applied and shortlisted.

The minimum qualifying marks for RET is 215 marks and RET – Exempted Category is 65 marks for admission in Ph.D.

BHU RET 2022 Admit Card

Candidates can download the ADMIT CARD from the BHU Entrance Test Portal (www.bhuonline.in) around One week before the date of examination by using the unique registration ID allotted to them at the time of online submission of application form.

  • Schedule of Test and Venue details will be given on the Admit Card.
  • No candidate shall be allowed to appear in Test without a valid Admit Card.
  • Keep Admit Card in safe custody after the Test for presenting it in counselling.

NEW DELHI : Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will soon commence the registration process for admission to PhD programmes offered by the university for the academic session 2023-24. The university has published the information bulletin for BHU PhD admission 2023 on its official website, bhuonline.in.

The information bulletin includes details on entrance tests, application fee, courses, eligibility criteria, admission process, dates, and more. BHU will offer admission to various PhD programmes through the National Testing Agency (NTA)’s PhD entrance test 2023 as well as BHU Research Entrance Test (BHU-RET) 2023. Some courses will also be offered through direct admission. The information bulletin mentions which programme will be offered through which exam.

BHU PhD Admission 2024-25: Entrance Exam, Last Date, Eligibility

BHU PhD Admission 2024-25:  Banaras Hindu University Admission for the academic session 2024-25 will start soon, and the last date to apply will be 30 August 2024 . The University offers PhD admission through the Research Entrance Test (RET) mode and the Research Entrance Test- exempted (RET-Exempted) mode. The University said that applicants must apply for the UGC/CSIR NET examination of June 2024 to getting PhD admission at Banaras Hindu University. The University will release the detailed PhD admission bulletin 2024 on its official website @bhu.ac.in in due course of time.

Students can register online at @bhu.ac.in with a registration fee of INR 600 . Candidates who are willing to pursue their PhD degree programme from BHU must ensure to register before the last date by visiting the official website of NTA. The candidates need to appear in the BHU Ph.D. Entrance Exams, any candidate who fails to show up for the entrance exams will not be considered eligible for the BHU Ph.D. Admission.

BHU PhD Admission 2024-25

BHU offers PhD admission for the 2024-25 academic session, and the registration process for admission will announced soon. The deadline to submit the application form for BHU PhD Admission 2024-25 will be 30 August 2024 . The students can apply for admission online by visiting the University's official website. BHU PhD Admission 2024 will be done based on two entrance exams first BHU RET and Second, UGC/CSIR NET Examinations. The registration process for both entrance exams will start soon, and the applicants will be able to register via the official web portal.

Candidates are required to submit the online application form which is released by the National Testing Agency on their official website. Candidates who fail to submit the application form before the last date will not be able to appear for the entrance examination. The candidates must appear for the PhD entrance examination conducted for BHU PhD Admission 2024. This examination will help the institute to shortlist the top candidates who will be allowed admission to the research-level degree programme.

To appear for the RET 2024 examination and get BHU PhD Admission 2024 for the academic year 2024-25, students are required to register for the examination on the university's website. To fill out the form, follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the official website of the university.
  • Click on Application for RET 2024.
  • Read the instructions on the page and create a new account on the website.
  • Select PhD as the course and your subject specialization from the list.
  • Fill in your Personal and Academic Details.
  • Select your preferred Exam City and Centre.
  • Upload your photograph and signature.
  • Upload other documents as mentioned on the portal.
  • Review the form details for any errors and fix them, if any.
  • Pay the Application Fee and submit the admission form.

You will be notified about the exam dates and once you qualify for the examination, you will be called for an interview and proceed with your PhD Admission.

BHU Integrated PhD-MPhil Admission 2024

Banaras Hindu University offers admission to the integrated PhD-MPhil, and MPhil degree programmes through a Research Entrance test (RET 2024). The online application form submission will be invited very soon for BHU Integrated PhD and MPhil admission 2024 at @bhu.ac.in. 31 August 2024* will be the last date of BHU Integrated Ph.D.-MPhil Admission 2024.

Students who are willing to opt for BHU PhD Admission 2024 along with the M.Phil degree programme must register and appear for the RET Entrance Examination which is soon going to be conducted by the university. Candidates willing to opt for BHU PhD Admission 2024 with an M.Phil programme should have completed their Masters's Degree programme in a related field with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks from a UGC-approved institute.

BHU PhD Direct Admission 2024

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) also offers direct admission to the PhD and M.Phil degree programmes which are offered by the university. However, the candidates must fulfill several eligibility criteria for them to be considered for direct admission to the research programmes. The students who are offered BHU PhD Admission 2024 in the direct mode will not be required to appear for the Research Entrance Test (RET) 2024. These students will be offered admission based on their marks in the qualifying examinations or other national-level entrance examinations for the research programmes.

A candidate who fulfills one of the following criteria may be considered for direct admission to the BHU PhD course.

  • Candidates who have qualified for national-level tests like NET-JRF, GATE, SLET, and NET-LS.
  • Candidates who are a recipient of National Doctoral Fellowship or other fellowships from government/semi-government organizations.
  • A candidate who is selected under the Quality Improvement Program (QIP) of AICTE.

BHU PhD Admission 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Banaras Hindu University offers PhD Admission to only those students who fulfill certain criteria which are set by the university. Admission to the PhD program will be granted based on the UGC, CSIR NET scores for the 2024-25 academic session. Students failing to fulfill the eligibility criteria will not be considered for admission to the PhD programme offered by BHU. BHU PhD Admission 2024 requires the candidates to fulfill the following criteria.

  • Candidates should have completed their Master's Degree in the field in which they want to pursue the PhD programme.
  • Candidates should have scored a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates should have completed their Master's Degree from a UGC-approved institute.

BHU PhD Entrance Exam 2024-25

Banaras Hindu University will be offering admission to the PhD programme considering the marks scored by the candidates in the Research Entrance Test (RET) 2024 . BHU PhD Admission will be made based on the UGC NET entrance exam for the 2024-25 session, and the registration has been completed. The entrance exam will be conducted from 25 July to 27 July   2024 by the University. Candidates can visit the official website at  PhD-entrance.samarth.ac.in  to submit the online application form.

  • The RET 2024 examination will have two components for the evaluation of the performance of the students.
  • Test A will be based on Subject Knowledge, Assessment of Logical and Analytical Capability, and Research Methodology.
  • Test B will cover a Personal Interview to test aptitude for research.
  • The minimum qualifying mark required to score in RET is 215 marks.

If you do not have Net Banking facility/Credit Card or ATM-cum Debit Card, you can pay the fee in cash at any branch of HDFC Bank through the Challan downloaded from the Entrance Test Portal. You will be able to download the duly filled up HDFC Bank challan from the Entrance Test Portal only whne you select the "cash payment" option while filling the application form online.

  • No printout of online submitted application form or proof of payment of Entrance Test fee is to be submitted to the University. However, the candidates should retain a copy of the said documents for their own record.
  • No document is required to be submitted along with the application form submitted online.
  • Original certificates issued by competent authority supporting your filled in details will be asked from you ONLY at the time of admission. If data provided in the online application is not supported by appropriate documents then your application / claim for admission shall be summarily rejected.
  • Registration on the BHU Entrance Test Portal (www.bhuonline.in) for online application process.

  • For subsequent applications (after the first course) process of filling up 'Applicant Details', 'Correspondence Address and Parental Details', 'uploading of Photograph and Signature' and 'Preference of Test centre' will not be required. These details will be repeated automatically/ copied for all subsequent applications after the first application. If you choose to pay after selecting all the courses of your choice, a combined payment of Entrance Test Fee for all courses you have applied for can be done.

How to complete Registration on the BHU Entrance Test Portal ( www.bhuonline.in ) for Online Application Process?

Step 1: Please click on "Apply for Admission" button given on the home page of the BHU Entrance Test Portal ( www.bhuonline.in ).

Step 2: On clicking the link, you will be directed to a new page having an Applicant Login Box. Below the login fields there is a link "Register Yourself" . Please click on this link.

Step 3: When you click the link you will be shown a Registration Form asking for various details. Fields for information which is mandatory is marked with "Red coloured bullets" and are to be essentially filled up. These fields cannot be left blank. Once you fill the details, you can click on the "Sign up" button at the bottom for completing the registration process.

NOTE: PLEASE NOTE THAT DETAILS SUBMITTED DURING REGISTRATION CANNOT BE CHANGED LATER. SO MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT MAKE ERRORS IN THE INFORMATION YOU FILL IN THIS FORM.

Step 4: Activation and validation of Registration

  • On successful submission of registration details, you would be shown a confirmation message on the screen. You will also receive an e-mail on the e-mail ID provided by you in the Registration Form and a validation code on your registered mobile number. This email will contain an activation link. You need to click on this activation link to confirm and complete your registration process. Note: This confirmation and activation link e-mail might land up in your "Spam Folder" or "Junk Folder'. So, in case you do not find the registration confirmation e-mail in your "Inbox", please check your "Spam Folder" or "Junk Folder'. If you find the e-mail from [email protected] in your "Spam Folder" or "Junk Folder' , please report it as "Not Spam" and/or add the same to your contact list so that the subsequent e-mails from [email protected] always come in your Inbox. Always check your "Spam Folder" or "Junk Folder' for e-mails from the BHU Entrance Test Portal.
  • Click on this activation link received in the e-mail. You account will not be activated until you have clicked on this activation link, so, do not forget this important step.
  • On clicking the activation link, you will be directed to the validation page in which you are required to give the validation code sent on your registered mobile number. Enter the validation code received on your registered mobile number to complete the registration process.
  • On successful validation, you will be allowed login and directed to My Application Section. Select the course of your choice and start filling up the application form online.

How to select Course for which I want to apply?

Step 1: After activation and validation of your Registration on the BHU Entrance Test Portal (www.bhuonline.in), you can login into the programme. After login you will be able to see the following page with the title "Status of Submitted Applications" .

Step 2: Please select course type and course name from the drop down boxes given at the bottom. Check the eligibility and in case you are eligible for the course click the checkbox given below regarding confirmation of the terms and conditions and the eligibility to proceed further for filling up the application form by clicking "Add Course" button.

How to fill up the Application form after I have selected the Course I wish to apply for?

Step 1: After adding the course of your choice, following screen will appear showing status of submitted application. On the left panel, various other buttons such as 'Applicant Details', 'Test Centre Preference', 'Upload Photograph and Signature' etc are given. These are various sections of the form. Application Status section shows which sections of the form is complete and which is incomplete. You can click the left panel button to go to the section of the form which are incomplete.

Step 2: After you have added the first course of your choice and come to the above screen, all the four sections of the Application Form would be shown as incomplete. Click on the 'Applicant Details' button on the left panel. On clicking, following form will appear on the screen. Some of its fields would be pre-filled with the details you gave at the time of registration. Fill up other required details correctly. Note: Mandatory fields have been marked with red asterix. They are to be essentially filled up before you will be allowed to 'Save' of the form.

Step 3: After you have filled up all the required fields of the 'Application form', Click on the 'Save' button given at the bottom of the page (as shown above). Note: For details related to specific fields in the application form, eligibility condition, number of seats, fee etc please refer to the Information Bulletin available on the BHU's Entrance Test Portal ( www.bhuonline.in ).

How to fill up my preference for Test Centres?

Step 1: The BHU conducts Entrance Tests at various Centres. Details can be seen at Section ____ of the UET Information Bulletin/ Section ___ of the PET 2014 Information Bulletin available on the Entrance Test Portal (www.bhuonline.in). To fill up your preference of Test Centre, click the button 'Test Centre Preference' available on the left panel. On clicking, you will see the following screen:

Step 2: Select the Test Centre of your choice in order of your preference from the drop down menu, which will appear as follows:

Step 3: After filling up all your preferences click the 'Save and Continue' Buttom given at the bottom.

How to Upload image file (in jpeg format; size limit 100kb) of my scanned photograph and signature?

Step 1: To upload the image file of you scanned passport size colour photograph and signature, click the button 'Upload Photograph and Signature' button available on the left panel. On clicking, you will see the following screen:

(Your scanned passport photo should be within 3.5 x 4.5 cm in size, scanning resolution should be within 100 dpi & file size should be less than 100 KB.)

  • Right click on the scaned photo file → Open with → Microsoft Office Picture Manager
  • Then look at the top menus, Click Picture → Resize
  • Now look at the right pannel, Select the radio button Custom width x height, And write width = 138px, height = 177px. Then Click OK to complete.
  • If you are not able to do this properly, then you can try 'Crop' feature for the 'Picture' menu
  • The save the file.

Step 2: Choose the image file (jpeg format; photo should be within 3.5 x 4.5 cm in size, scanning resolution should be within 100 dpi & file size not more than 100 kb) of your scanned passport size photograph and signature and click the button 'Upload Photo' and 'Upload Signature' button given below the Box. After you have successfully uploaded the photograph and signature, you will see the following page:

Upto this stage, you have completed all stages of the Application Form. Now, click the ' Preview before Confirmation' button given at the bottom of the page. This will help you see entries made in various sections of the Application Form. In case you want to edit some details, you should do so before clicking 'I confirm the above' checkbox and clicking the 'Confirm and Submit' button because once you confirm and submit an application form, it cannot be edited further. NOTE: If you are sure that all details are correct and you do want to submit the application then click on the button "Proceed for submission and payments". When you click on the button you would be shown a page which lists the various applications which are completed. There is also a small declaration which is to be confirmed. Select the applications you want to submit and click on the declaration after reading it thoroughly. This is important.

How to pay the Entrance Test Fee to successfully submit my Application Form(s)?

Step 1: Click the 'Make Payments' Icon from the 'Dashoard'. On clicking you will see the following screen.

Step 2: You can select the applications for which you want to pay the Entrance Test Fee by clicking the checkbox given in the extreme right column with the column heading 'Select to Pay'.

Step 3: You have option of paying Entrance Test Fee online (using Netbanking, Credit Card/ Debit Card) through payment gateway available on the Portal [by clicking 'Continue for online Payment'] or to pay in cash at any branch of HDFC through challan printed from the portal [by clicking the 'Cash Payment through' HDFC Bank' button on the right side].

How do I know that my Application Form is successfully submitted?

Step 1: Go to 'My Applications' section using the dashboard. The Section will show as follows. You can see that after successful submission (only after payment of Entrance Test Fee), Application Status column shows 'Entrance Test Fee Paid' and a payment id has appeared under 'Payment Id column'. This shows that application has been successfully submitted. Also note that after this stage, the 'Delete' column is blank. This means that after this stage you will not be able to delete an application.

Step 2: After successful payment of Entrance Test Fee (either online payment or in cash through HDFC), you will get an e-mail message from from the Entrance Test Portal that your form has been successfully submitted. Take a printout of this e-mail and retain it for your own record and future reference.

  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level

PhD in Sciences

  • Applicants with a master’s degree in science in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.
  • Applicants with four year bachelor’s degree in Science in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level

PhD in Humanistic Studies

  • Applicants with a Master’s degree in a relevant subject or allied subjects with a minimum CPI of 6.00 on a 10.0 point scale (or 60% marks) in the qualifying degree.
  • Applicants with a Master’s degree in Science or allied subjects with a minimum CPI of 6.00 on a 10.0 point scale (or 60% marks) in the qualifying degree.
  • Applicants with more than two years of professional experience, the minimum requirement shall be 70% marks or 7.0 CPI (on a 10 point scale) at bachelor degree provided the degree is from an Institution funded by the Central Government.

PhD in Interdisciplinary/ Systems Engineering

  • Applicants with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in any branch of Engineering must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.

PhD in Industrial Management

  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering and a master’s degree in any branch of engineering/ management must have a minimum of 60% or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.

PhD in Bio-chemical Eng/Bio-medical Eng/Materials Sci. & Tech

  • Applicants with a master’s degree in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline must have a minimum of 60% or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.
  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level.

Reservations

For SC/ST/OBC Candidates

  • In each discipline, 15% seats are reserved for SC, 7.5% seats for ST and 27% seats for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates.
  • SC/ST/OBC candidates must also satisfy the eligibility requirements for admission. However, while considering their cases, only suitability for the program is ensured and the SC/ST/OBC candidates are not compared with those belonging to other categories.
  • Further, a relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CPI (on a 10 point scale) shall be admissible on the marks obtained in qualifying degree for SC and ST candidates in the admission

Instructions for filling Form

  • Register into the admission portal
  • Applicants MUST REGISTER into the admission portal in order to submit the application online.
  • Click on the “Register” link to OPEN the registration page; Enter your valid Email address and create a password of eight character length. All correspondences related to your application will be sent to the provided email ID only.
  • After you have successfully completed the registration, the login credentials (username and password) will be mailed to your Email ID. In case you do not find the mail in the “Inbox”, please check in the “Spam” folder of your email account.
  • Fill in Personal Details and Upload your photograph and signature
  • Fill in your Full name, Father’s name, Mother’s Name and Date of birth as per your High School Certificate.
  • Select your Gender, Nationality, and Category from the “drop-lists” and Click the option (yes or no) for Physically challenged.
  • Enter your 10-digit Mobile number; Enter your complete Correspondence address and Permanent address. Avoid typing single (‘) or double quote (”) symbols in the address fields.
  • Upload your color photograph and signature (File size of each MUST BE less than 50kb) by clicking the appropriate “Browse” button. You can replace or modify the images later on, before submitting the form, if needed.
  • Pay Online the Application Processing Fee
  • The application processing fee (Rs.500/- for GEN/OBC/EWS candidates and Rs.250/- for SC/ST/Physically Disabled candidates) should be paid Online only and is Non-Refundable.

BHU RET 2023 Application Form, Exam Date, BHU Ph.D Admission

BHU RET 2023- Banaras Hindu University will soon commence the registration process for BHU RET. The official registration dates for BHU RET will be updated via the official website of BHU i.e. www.bhu.ac.in. Banaras Hindu University(BHU RET) application process will be conducted for the candidates who are seeking admission in Ph.D. and Integrated M.Phil and Ph.D. program. All interested and eligible candidates should obtain the latest updates of BHU RET from the official site i.e. bhuonline.in.

Furthermore, successfully passed candidates will have to undergo the interview phase. Only after the conduction of the interview, the final result of the candidate will be published. Consequently, the final result will show the candidate’s performance in both the written test and interview.

Eligibility Requirements

For entry into Ph.D., Integrated M.Phil. Ph.D., and M.Phil programmes, you need to confirm the basic requirements as given below:

Ph.D. via Research Entrance Test (RET)

  • A degree of Vidyavaridhi/ Doctor of Philosophy in various disciplines can apply.
  • Those candidates who are waiting for their results of NET are also eligible to apply.

Other Qualifications

  • An individual has to pass the qualifying examination securing a minimum 55% marks.
  • A Postgraduate degree in the concerned discipline/ subject or in any one of the allied subjects is required.

For Integrated M.Phil.-Ph.D. Program

If you are willing to get enrolled in M.Phil-Ph.D. Program you need to have obtained:

  • BE/ B.Tech or Postgraduate Degree/ MA/ LLB/ LLM.
  • One should secure at least 55% aggregate marks equivalent grade point average in the qualifying degree from any Indian University/AIU/AICTE recognized institution.

For Master of Philosophy

  • A master’s degree in concerned subject of Humanities/ Social Sciences with a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying examination.

BHU RET 2023 Application Form

Candidates need to register online for the BHU Research entrance test (RET) 2023 using the official portal of BHU. One can easily obtain the application form via the site of BHU. Register themselves using their active email id, date of birth, father’s name, phone number etc. Once your registration is successful, you can easily login into the website just by providing the email ID and password. After providing these, you can complete the rest of the application form. After that, the application form will ask the basic details like your name, father’s name, gender, address, educational details, test center preference, and so on. You should enter each and every detail with utmost care so that your application form is not rejected.

Post the completion of the above process, you have to upload the scanned copy of your latest passport size photograph and signature in the given size and formats only. After submitting the images, proceed to submit the application fee for the exam. Please note that your application form submission will only be confirmed after the successful payment of the application fee. Moreover, get multiple prints of the duly submitted application form for future purposes.

As per the previous year, the application fee for General and OBC category candidates was Rs. 500/- while for SC/ST category, the fee was Rs. 250/-. It is recommended to visit the official portal of BHU to get the application fee details related t0 BHU RET.

Exam Pattern

The previous year’s pattern of the exam is given in the section below. However, there might be changes in BHU RET, so it is advised to refer to the official portal to get a detailed view.

  • Duration of the Exam- 120 mins
  • Total marks- 100 marks
  • Total no. of questions- 100 multiple choice questions
  • Marking Scheme- There shall be negative marking in RET 2023, +1 marks are allotted for every right response.
  • Whereas, zero marks are applicable for unattempted questions.

Result and Counseling

  • Candidates will get the result of examination only through the official web portal of the University.
  • The result of the exam will only be announced on the given dates. Candidates can check the dates via the notifications on the main website of BHU.
  • The authorities of BHU will prepare a separate merit list for the participants based on their performance in the exam.
  • The shortlisted candidates will have to attend the counselling where the higher authorities will verify their original documents.
  • Only after successful verification, candidates can proceed towards the rest of the process.
  • A final merit list will be published at last based on the overall performance of the candidates.
