Vacations are awaited eagerly and we always make plans to go for a trip whenever we have our holidays. This time we chose to spend our holidays at a hill station. We decided to go to the Nilgiris which is situated in Ooty. We packed our bags with clothes and other necessary items and headed for a one-week trip.

We stayed there for five days and the experience was fantastic. The weather was pleasant. We enjoyed the walks through the Botanical Gardens and the bicycle ride by the lake. The place is really exotic with its extremely beautiful resorts. The lush green mountains and the beautiful flowers were a visual treat. The memory of this trip will always be etched in my mind.

Last summer I made a trip to Darjeeling, the Queen of Hill Stations. We travelled to New Jalpaiguri by the Darjeeling Mail. There we got into the toy train. Oh! what an experience it was! The train moved very slowly through the Terai in a zig-zag course. The streams, tea gardens, seasonal flowers and the beautiful greenery of the forests on either side of the railway track presented a picturesque scene.

The journey from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling was a wonderful experience. We stayed in a hotel in Darjeeling. There are many tourist spots there. We visited the local zoo where we saw some very rare animals. We also visited Lloyd Botanical Garden, Rock Garden, the beautiful monastery at Ghoom and the ropeway. One early morning we drove to the Tiger Hill to enjoy the enchanting beauty of the rising sun. Visiting the mall was a part of our daily routine from where we witnessed the beauty of Mount Kanchenjunga. The visit to Darjeeling was a memorable event in my life.

Essay on a Visit to a Hill Station: 200-250 Words

A visit to a hill station had been my great dream since my boyhood. But only last January I had an opportunity for the first time to visit Darjeeling. My uncle who holds his office there asked me to visit the hill station To be frank, my joy knew no bounds at this invitation. I reached Siliguri by bus. Thereafter I boarded the uncle’s office car and started for Darjeeling.

It was a fine morning- clear and bright. The up journey was very thrilling. The snow-capped hilltops afar opened full to the view. The tea gardens- all green in endless rows- were beautifully smooth to see. The windy roads and the mountain springs falling incessantly are great attractions. I could hardly resist the captivating scenery all around. I saw hills on the right and hills on the left. During my short-stay, I used to walk up almost every afternoon to the Mall. From there the entire range of Kanchenjungha can be seen clearly if the day is cloudless.

I enjoyed a ride on the ropeway. I spent a day visiting the zoo, the Lalkuthi, the Lebong Race Course, the Jalpahar and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. I viewed to my heart’s content the magnificent sunrise from Tiger Hill. A day was fixed for Mirik Lake where I enjoyed a boating with full delight. The Batasia Loop made me spell-bound at its engineering skill used so far. The Governor’s House is worth a visit. But what impressed me most was the grand view of the Himalayas.

I felt sad that my happy days passed so soon. Yet, I was happy. I visited a hill station. known as the Queen of Hills. Its memory will stay with me forever.

A Visit to a Hill Station Essay: 500 Words

Introduction:.

I celebrated life during a refreshing visit to a chilly hill station. It was more enjoyable because it was in summer. It was June and the schools were closed for vacations. Hill stations were crowded with people from the plains.

Your Fondness of Visiting Hill Stations:

I have already visited a couple of hill stations where l enjoyed the beauty of the mountains, the loveliness of nature, and the grandeur of rivers and waterfalls. They are all in the lap of nature, far from the “madding crowd” and pollution of densely populated cities. The landscape of a hill station is literature to a poetic soul. A poetic person, while visiting a hill station, feels:

There’s music in all things, if a man had ears. The earth is but the music of the spheres. (Lord Byron)

Descriptions of Your Visit:

Last summer, I had an opportunity to visit Simla with my mother. My uncle lives there. My mother and I left for Simla by train. We arrived at Kalka. It is a hilly tract of sixty kilometers from Kalka to Simla. The train leading to Simla covers this distance in about six hours. We boarded the toy train. The train had only eight or nine compartments. I looked outside through the window of the train. I saw the mountains were bathed in the glory of the rising sun. Everything looked majestic. The trees were so high. They were, as if, receiving messages straight from heaven. I felt a joyous invitation of Simla in my heart.

The following day and then through the weekend we started visiting places in Simla. It was once the summer capital of the government of India during the British rule. Now it is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. On these visits, we enjoyed the beauty and freshness of Simla. We also went for horse-riding and excursions.

To our despair, Scandal Point or the Ridge was overcrowded. There was a steep rise that took us from the Ridge to Jakhu. It is a mountain peak having very tall trees. As the legend goes, it is believed that Hanuman had fetched Sanjeevani for Lakshman from here. We were greeted by the chirping of birds from tall trees. Their carols were continually ringing in my heart. The landscape was so marvelous that I experienced a tremendous high. The song of the birds, and the whisper of the leaves echoed the ecstasy of nature.  A scented freshness filled the air. There is snow-skating available at Kufri. It is ten kilometers from Simla. We also visited it. I also took photographs to capture the beauty of Simla.

Conclusion:

The days sped. As we left Simla, I realised that the sweet memory of this visit would never desert me. If you have a soul that responds to the poetry and drama of a landscape, beware the thrall of Simla, for it will hook you and beckon you annually.

Long Essay on A Visit to a Hill Station

Visiting a hill station in the summers is the best getaway from the scorching heat of the city you live in. In addition to that, the pleasant weather and temperature are suitable for meditation and health restoration activities.

India is a hot country with very high temperatures during April, May, and June. A short trip to a hill station every summer is exciting and quite tempting. Everybody wants to escape the blazing heat to refresh and rejuvenate. People who cannot afford to travel abroad are always keen to visit nearby hill stations to enjoy the summers. It is a great escapade for people, away from the high temperatures of the plains.

Shimla has been on our wish list for a very long time now, it was locked as our destination this summer. My entire family was excited about this trip to Shimla. Our love for train journeys made us choose to travel by train for this trip. We boarded the train for Shimla early in the morning, and were going through these lush green lands, intriguing tunnels, and beautiful hillsides.

We were simply mesmerized to see the view of many other hill stations like Solan, Jakej, Kumarhatti, etc. The next day we arrived at Shimla in the afternoon and took a cab to reach our hotel. Our room in the hotel was huge and had a breathtaking view. We got ourselves some rest and, in the evening, planned to go shopping and explore the Shimla market.

The Ridge or Mall Road is the go-to place for the crowd to shop. Banks, classy hotels, coffee houses, and fancy shops were in high demand. The Ridge ends at the Mahatma Gandhi statue. We could also see snow-capped peaks by then, which melted our hearts.

The next day we started with the Hanuman temple in the morning. We spotted many monkeys at the famous Hanuman temple, who were getting fed with bananas by the locals and tourists. We then started for Mashobra, an apple farm and horticulture center that is pretty well known. We received eye-opening information about horticulture there. Several misconceptions regarding the plants and flowers were cleared too. Lakkar Bazaar was the destination for the evening. It is a wood market, selling items made out of wood including walking sticks and decorative pieces. We returned to our room and rested after exhausting ourselves completely.

The next morning, we had our breakfast and headed for Badi Ki Dhar. We witnessed the beautiful sights of Shimla from this hilltop. With cold winds brushing by our faces swiftly, the view was outstandingly mesmerizing. It also has a famous temple of Lord Shiva. The Lord is commemorated in an annual fair organized on the 14 th and 15 th of June.

The next spot for us was the Switzerland of the East. It has this peculiar name to it since it’s covered with snow completely. It was all of our first time feeling and touching the real snow in its serene surroundings. We kept playing in the snow to our hearts were content. We ate a little bit and went back to sleep in our rooms.

There were two more spots left to see in our itinerary. They were the Chadwick waterfall and the Himalayan Bird Park. The Himalayan Bird Park was best for bird watchers and nature lovers. We got to see very rare species of birds, some exotic pheasants, peacocks, and the Himalayan Monal. The amazing colours of the birds along with their chirping sounds made the atmosphere very vibrant. We even fed the birds with our own hands. The park is also famous for its collection of rare trees and plants. The last spot was the most-awaited place called the Chadwick waterfall. Located in an undisturbed corner of the Glen forests, the looming greens, the breezy climate, the sound, and the fragrance of the wild works as a mood lifter for the senses.

Short Essay on a Visit to a Hill Station

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever!” I was always told that hills are a thing of beauty. I had a chance to visit Shimla with my family. We took a train this time and the journey was quite thrilling for us. Shimla being a beautiful hill station, it was a wonderful experience for us. The very famous Mall road was hustling and bustling with the crowd. Literally a meeting place for all in Shimla. The lower mall is full of life. One could see the entire Shimla hills from the ridge, the widest, and the most beautiful spot. The pretty church on the ridge is a bonus attraction for any tourist. Shimla is named after Goddess Shyamalais known as the “queen of hills”.

Additional Essays on Hill Station

Nainital

The place got silent and serene as the night proceeded. Insects could be heard buzzing throughout. The calm water of the lake and the moon's reflection in it preserve the beauty of it at night.

We decided to go for a walk the next day to explore what the area has to offer. There were plenty of other lovely sights to view. A variety of birds and animals were seen. Some of them were stunning and one-of-a-kind. They appeared to be content walking through the forests and among the huge trees. The houses were uniquely designed and appeared to be unique.

As we drove back with wonderful recollections of this site, our only concern was the steady deterioration of its unique beauty. Nainital is not only lovely, but it is also relatively pollution-free. The clean water of the lakes and the green, gleaming foliage of the trees were examples. However, with the flood of tourists, the natural beauty of this location is now being exploited for profit. Forest areas are being cleared to make way for hotels and shopping malls.

For us, the trip to Nainital was a fantastic experience. Following our tour, we felt revitalised and energised.

Mussoorie

Around the 15th of May, Delhi's schools close for the summer holiday. It was really hot at that time. As a result, my parents decided to visit Mussoorie. The mere concept of travelling to the hills was exhilarating. The preparations were already underway.

We prepared our belongings and prepared for the travel. We took the train to Dehradun. We travelled by automobile from Dehradun to Mussoorie.

Mussoorie is one of India's hill stations. It's referred to as the "Queen of Hill Stations." It features a variety of lovely sports. We went to see the town the next day after breakfast. We went to the Landour and Library markets. They were all crammed with visitors from all across the country.

We went for a walk after lunch along the Mall and Camel Back Road. We were enthralled by the vista all around us. The skating rink, which is a hotspot for fashion and colour, is worth a visit. We were able to see the Kempty Falls and the snow-capped mountain.

We stayed in a lovely summer resort. The mountain slopes are covered in tall, green trees that make for a lovely sunset vista and a spectacular appearance. The hours of the morning and evening are also very lovely. It takes one's mind off the sweltering heat of the plains.

A cold breeze refreshes the mind. Being so close to Mother Nature made me joyful. My heart was filled with excitement as I saw the vivid multi-coloured flowers, the clouds soaring through the sky, and the snow-covered peaks of the high mountains in the distance.

We stayed for a fortnight there. I unwillingly returned to Delhi. My vacation to Mussoorie remains a vivid memory in my mind.

Ooty

We booked a car as soon as we arrived to contact our hotel. We stayed at the hotel for the night. We awoke early and went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast the next day before beginning our adventure. Breakfast was delicious, especially the coffee and dosa. The Government Botanical Garden near Coimbatore was the first location we went to.

The Garden is separated into numerous areas, each with a different flower in bloom, and it appears to be a great place for photography. Then we travelled to the Ooty Boathouse in the Nilgiris, which provides tourists with boating opportunities. While boating, we were treated to breathtaking scenery.

After we finished our meal, we went to see the famed Rose Garden, which has over 20,000 different varieties of roses. We went back to the motel and slept the night away. On our final day in Ooty, we went to the tea museum and factory, where they make high-quality tea and Toda cottages created by the Toda tribal people.

The shelter's distinguishing feature is that it lacks windows and is quite low in height.

It is one of Ooty's indigenous tribes that is reliant on agriculture. These are some of the places we visited during our brief stay, but there are many more that we plan to visit next year. The view and the weather it provided fascinated us all.

Summary

It was time for our journey back and it was by bus. It was captivating as the stars, the nightlife, the music, and the far-stretching hills were alluring us to revisit the place. The zig-zag roads gave us an opportunity to view nature from different angles. Shimla stands true to its tag of “queen of hills”. We would all love to come here again to find out the unexplored spots.

A Visit to a Hill Station Essay for 2nd Year, FSC and Graduation (Outstanding Students)

“There is Pleasure in the pathless woods, There is rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes I love not man the less. but nature more.”

it is in human nature to look forward to moments of joy and pleasure. So man started to create places of recreation. He settles for nothing but the best. After ages of search, he came to the conclusion that there is no better creator than God. The places left untouched by the evil clutches of humans proved to be the perfect shelter.

Life itself is very tiresome. Everybody needs to be reminded to take a break and look around himself and enjoy the moment. I, like students of today, live a busy life but I believe that one should spare some time for recreation. I would like to narrate the most memorable visit to a hill station.

My friends and I made a programme to go to the pleasing and relaxing atmosphere of a hill station. We picked Murree as our destination. On the appointed day. we packed our bags and went to a bus station. After 4 hour travelling. we finally reached there. We rented a local car and started the climb towards the pine trees. The weather was perfect. Sunlight was streaming through the leaves. The cool fresh air relaxed us and cooled our mind. The top of the mountains was behind a curtain of clouds with a few pine tree tops.

The hotels were quite expensive but we found one with moderate charges and lodged there. We went to the window and were amazed. The window opened to a mountainside and it was covered completely with different coloured flowers. We stood gazing for a while and then planned our day.

First, we climbed all the way to Kashmir point. We had tea there. The beautiful mountains and the clean, fresh air made me feel alive. I never wanted to turn my eyes away from the evergreen trees. Everything seemed too good to be true, too pretty to last. it made time itself stop.

“In the woods, is perpetual youth.”

it was evening time and we got back to the Mall Road. This road was thronged with the pedestrians. People wearing warm clothes seemed to be enjoying the lovely weather. The high mountains behind the hotels were presenting the marvellous view. We had the chance to look and observe various artefacts and handicrafts. We bought some handicrafts and other items especially prepared by the local people and went back to our hotel.

We were all tired and decided to sleep so that we could get up early to see the sunrise. The next morning, a friend awoke me at seven o’clock and asked me to come outside. I stumbled and reached the door. At this time most of the people were still asleep and it was all quiet. The sun was peaking between two mountains. The clouds spread all across the mountain were reflecting the sunlight and giving off different shades. The purple, red, orange, yellow, and blue patches of the sky seemed unreal. I had never seen anything so beautiful. The birds and trees seemed to be celebrating it. The trees bowed down by the wind looked as if they hailed the majestic sun. I sighed and was filled with a desire to drink the sunlight.

“Take a deep breath and look around, you will find perfection and serenity nowhere but in God’s creation.” (LA Stear)

We went back to the hotel for breakfast. We wanted to catch a bus early to get back home. I didn’t want to leave. The View of the trees. the flowers, the chirping birds. the bright green leaves, the crystal clear water streams, the 4 majestic mountains occupied my mind. But we had to leave. we took the bus. The descent was uneven, but not without its joys. Slowly the mountains started to fade from view. Though we left the hill station, a glorious place, the memory of it was fresh in my mind. I never want to forget the beauty of nature.

When I remember those days I start singing these beautiful verses of William Wordsworth.

“Oh there is blessing in this gentle breeze, That blows from the green fields and from the clouds, And from the sky: it beats against my cheek, And seems half-conscious of the joy it gives.”

2. Short Essay on A visit to a Hill Station for 10th Class, 2nd Year and Graduation

Recreation trips are a part of life. They increase our knowledge and experience. They provide us with fun and joy. They refresh our mind.

It was a pleasant day of summer. We decided to visit Murree Hills. We hired a bus and left for Murree at nightfall. The bus was new. At about 8 am, we reached Murree. We got a few rooms in a hotel. First of all, we had a hot bath, enjoyed lunch and took a rest for sometime. In the evening, we went out. It was really a lovely weather. Suddenly it began drizzling. The cool breeze was fanning our faces. It was nearly getting dark when we returned.

The next day we visited Patriata. We sat in the cable car. It was so wonderful to look down sitting in the cable car. The view below simply seemed to be a fairyland. At last, we reached Patriata Hills. We stayed there till 5 pm. On our way back to Murree, we stayed for some time in Wonderland Park. We reached Murree at night. The next day, we visited the nearby valleys. We stayed in Murree for three days. Then we returned to our city. The trip came to an end. But we will never forget the fun we had during the trip.

My family and I took a holiday to Mussoorie for my summer holidays. We took a train to Dehradun and then took a bus to Mussoorie from there. We arrived in the late afternoon and checked into a beautiful hotel. Mussoorie is one of India's many hill stations. It is also known as the "Queen of Hill Stations." It has lots of lovely places. The following morning, after breakfast, we visited the town. We went to the Landour, Library, and Kulri markets. They were all crowded with tourists. We took a stroll along the Mall and Camelback Road after lunch. We also visited Kempty Fall the next day—the weather was amazing. The tall, green trees that cover the mountain slopes make for a lovely spectacle at dusk making Mussorie a wholesome place to visit.

200 Words Essay on A Visit to a Hill Station

Last December, I travelled with my family to Manali. It is a great place with lovely hills, lovely surroundings, and active streets. We were treated to a beautiful wonderland. Snow enveloped the picturesque town of Manali. We drove to the hotel, rested for a little, and then headed to the Manu temple. Its location is renowned for providing beautiful views of the valley. We then visited another well-known Hadimba temple. There were many sights to view in Manali, and some of them and some events had a greater emotional impact on us than others, such as paragliding and parachuting was an eye-opening experience for me and made me see the beauty in the world.

I also had my first ever ice-skating experience where I kept falling but it was still a lot of fun. On the way back to our hotel, it started snowing and I was in complete awe of it. We stayed in Manali for another two days and stopped by in Shimla on our way back. We visited the temples there and also took a leisure walk on the mall road and enjoyed the street food. This was one of the best and most treasured trips of my life.

500 Words Essay on A Visit to a Hill Station

Every summer, a quick vacation to a hill station is exciting and highly alluring. Everyone seeks to escape the harsh heat to relax and revitalise. During my summer holiday, my entire family and I travelled to Shimla. Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh, which during the British era also served as the summer capital of India for six of the country's hottest months.

My mother, brother, and sister were all looking forward to the journey to this lovely hill station. We decided to take the train because we love taking rail trips. Early in the morning, we boarded the train headed for Shimla, passing through these beautiful green spaces, tunnels, and picturesque mountains. We were completely captivated by the scenery of numerous other hill towns, like Solan, Jakej, and Kumarhatti.

Places We Visited

Since the Shimla railway station is practically at the bottom of the town, it turned out to be quite a hike to the hotel. But it was absolutely worth it because our view from the hotel was breathtaking. We rested for a while and chatted with the hotel manager about our options for sightseeing.

Mall Road | We then went to Mall Road in the evening and enjoyed street food, coffee shops and vintage bookstores. We also saw upscale stores, elegant hotels, restaurants, a few bars, coffee shops and a Post & Telegraph office along the Mall Road route.

Hanuman Temple | We went to visit Hanuman Temple the next morning— it is a well-known temple for devotion and sightseeing and is frequently visited by both locals and tourists. It's a good spot for a picnic as well. There were a lot of monkeys who were being fed bananas and peanuts by the visitors to keep them from acting hostile. My little sister became rather frightened of them but they were harmless.

Lakkar Bazaar | In the late evening we saw a winding road leading to a beautiful small Lakkar Bazaar beyond the ridge. Numerous stores offered and showed wooden crafts. For my grandfather, my mother purchased a stylish walking cane. She bought my grandmother a woollen shawl from a bazaar shop. We ended our night with a light meal and walked back to the hotel.

Mashobra Village | Towards the end of our trip, we decided to go to Mashobra—a small village north of Shimla. It is popular for its apple orchards and a horticulture research facility. The village’s population was only around 900 people. They were friendly to tourists and held small businesses and shops to earn a living. We also visited Shimla airport and the Anadale grounds which have a helipad.

Our week-long trip to Shimla came to an end sooner than I expected. We took a car back to Delhi. I met new people and got to know about their experiences of living in small cities and hill stations. This trip was not just fun but also educational in many ways. I'll always cherish the memories I had of my trip to Shimla.

Every year, many people travel worldwide to gain life experience. People travel to learn, while others go for a break from the grind of their daily lives.

A Visit to a Hill Station Essay in English

We decided to take the train this time, and the journey was exhilarating. Being a stunning hill station, our experience in Shimla was unforgettable. Walking down the famous Mall Road, we were surrounded by a lively crowd – truly a popular spot for everyone in Shimla. The lower mall is also full of life and provides a remarkable view of the entire Shimla hills from the ridge, which is undoubtedly the most comprehensive and breathtaking spot. To top it off, a charming church on the ridge serves as an added attraction for tourists.

Nainital  – As the night went on, the place became silent and serene. Insects buzzed throughout. The calm water of the lake and its reflection preserved its beauty at night. We decided to take a walk the next day to explore the area. There were also plenty of other lovely sights to see.

Numerous birds and animals were spotted, including some breathtaking and one-of-a-kind creatures. They seemed delighted strolling through the forests and towering trees. The houses boasted distinctive designs and stood out from one another. As we departed with fond memories of this place, our primary worry was the gradual decline of its unparalleled charm. Nainital holds not only picturesque views but also boasts relatively low pollution levels.

The clear waters of the lakes and the vibrant greenery of the trees serve as prime examples. However, due to the influx of visitors, the natural beauty of this destination is being taken advantage of for financial gain. Much forest land is being cleared for hotels and shopping malls. After our tour, we felt refreshed and energised.

Mussoorie – In May, schools in Delhi close for the summer vacation. The heat was unbearable then, so my parents decided to go to Mussoorie. The mere idea of travelling to the hills was exhilarating. Our preparations were already underway. We gathered our belongings and prepared for the trip. Taking the train to Dehradun, we drove to Mussoorie by automobile.

The area offers a range of delightful activities. Following breakfast, we explored the town. Our first stops were the Landour and Library markets, both bustling with visitors nationwide. After lunch, we took a stroll along the Mall and Camel Back Road, mesmerised by the surrounding scenery. The famous skating rink is a vibrant hub of fashion and colour that shouldn’t be missed. Our accommodations were in a charming summer resort nestled in the lush green slopes, providing an idyllic backdrop for sunsets and stunning views. The early morning and evening hours were particularly enchanting.

Being so close to Mother Nature made me happy. It took my mind off the sweltering heat of the plains. A cold breeze refreshed my mind. When I saw the vivid multi-coloured flowers, the clouds soaring through the sky. For a fortnight, we stayed there. I reluctantly returned to Delhi. I still remember my trip to Mussoorie vividly.

We first visited the renowned Manu temple, known for its stunning valley views. Later, we stopped by the well-known Hadimba temple. As we toured Manali, each sight had its impact on us. Long Essay on A Visit to a Hill Station 500 Words for Kids and Students in English

Our school organised a tour to Shimla during the summer vacation under the guidance of our physical education teacher. A group of twenty students left for Kalka by train. A metre gauge line goes up from Kalka to Shimla. It is a hilly tract of sixty kilometers that the train covers in about three hours. The train winds its way on the zigzag rails very slowly. It has a small engine and has only eight or nine compartments.

One can easily catch the running train. The mountains were bathed in the glory of the rising sun and everything looked majestic. The trees were so high that they seemed to be receiving messages straight from the heavens. There was greenery everywhere. We had left the scorching heat of the plains and felt the need for warm clothes.

Our teacher had booked rooms for us in The Grand Hotel that is located on the Cart Road near the bus stand. We had to bolt the doors and windows very carefully because sometimes, the clouds enter the rooms and wet beddings and clothes. When we sat on the ridge, the clouds passed by us and made us cool and we felt drenched.

A Visit to a Hill Station Essay

Shimla is one of the most beautiful hill stations and the British had made it the summer capital of the government of India. The governor’s lodge has been converted into the Centre of Advanced Studies. Now, Shimla is the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh. It has become overcrowded and one does not enjoy those lovely hours on the Scandal Point or on the Ridge.

There is a steep height that takes us from the Ridge to Jakhu temple. It is on a mountain peak surrounded by very tall trees. It is said that Hanuman had carried Sanjeevani for Lakshman from there. There are monkeys all around and look at the tourists with angry eyes. One has to carry grams to please them. There is a skating rink on the Mall Road where young people enjoy skating. There are some beautiful places around Shimla that attract tourists. The snow-skating rink at Kufri is barely ten kilometres from there.

The days passed so fast that we forgot, we had to go back. The manager of the hotel reminded us that our booking days were over. As we drove back to Kalka, we wished that we could have stayed there for a few more days. The visit was very refreshing and I enjoyed a lot.

I would even suggest to you, readers, as well that if you have still not visited Murree yet then go and have a visit over it right now!

A visit to a hill station.

Essay No. 01

A few months ago, I visited Darjeeling. Situated in the Eastern Himalayas, world-famous for its tea gardens, and enveloped by an eternal fog almost the whole year round, it has a charm and beauty all of its own. I went there with my school friends. We took a taxi from Siliguri and drove up the gently sloping road with the fascinating railway track crisscrossing it at unexpected places.

Halfway through we heard a loud whistle, the unmistakable sound of a train “chug-chugging” and suddenly it appeared, right before us. Brightly painted, old-fashioned, with a huge bell in front and just about four carriages to it, the most popular tourist attraction of that area—the Toy Train—looked like something out of a fairy tale.

When we entered Darjeeling there was a thick fog all around and it seemed as if we were driving into the clouds. It was very cold but we were well-prepared with our coats, caps, and mufflers. Arrangements for our stay had been made in a small but comfortable lodging house, and after spending the night there we embarked upon a tour of sightseeing. We visited the Botanical Gardens, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Senchal Lake, and many more places of interest. We ate some authentic Tibetan food and bought traditional Eastern curios.

Early the next morning, we went to Tiger Hill to see the sunrise. This is possible only if it is a clear day and many people come back disappointed. But we were lucky. A. hush fell over the crowd as the first rays of the sun struggled out from behind the clouds and the sun rose in all its glory. The snow-clad Kanchenjunga looked breathtakingly beautiful. I have never seen anything so awe-inspiring! From this spot, we were even able to get a glimpse of Mount Everest.

On our way back we visited the lush tea gardens, which produce some of the finest tea in the whole world.

My trip to Darjeeling was really an enjoyable one. I did not know until I went there that nature could be so magical!

Last month my school took us all for a trip to Dehradoon and Mussoorie. About 150 students went in two buses. Some of our teachers were also accompanying us. We took our overnight cases along with some eatables and set off with great enthusiasm.

We reached Dehradoon after a journey of six hours from Delhi. We had been singing and dancing all the way and were very tired. We were first taken to Sahastra Dhara. All our tiredness vanished after a refreshing dip in the cold waterfall. It is said that its water can cure you of any ailment. We enjoyed our bath very much.

After our lunch, we went to the famous forest Research Institute. We marvelled at the wealth that our forests had to offer to us. We also learned the valuable lesson of how important it was for us to conserve our forests. We all resolved to use paper more carefully and to plant trees as soon as we went back to Delhi.

The road from Dehradoon to Mussoorie was full of hairpin bends and the rise was dizzying. We checked into a hotel for tonight. The next day we saw all the beautiful sights of Mussoorie-the Kempty Falls, Gun Hill, and Company Garden. We loved walking along the quaint streets of Mussoorie and enjoying the view from the mountain top. The crowd and dirt of Delhi seemed very far away. We also did some shopping at the Mall Road.

Our buses reached Delhi the next morning after an exhausting but memorable trip. The photographs that I took along with my friends will always remind me of our visit to Dehradoon and Mussoorie.

Set 1: Essay On A Visit to a Hill Station

Last summer our school closed in the mid-May for the holidays. My parents had decided to visit Mussoorie. So they made all the arrangements two months ahead.

From Howrah station we went to Dehradun by train, and then by bus to Mussoorie. Immediately we made our way to the hotel and relaxed, as the journey was very tiring.

After lunch, we went for a long walk along the Mall and the Camel Back Road. We enjoyed the ack Road. We enjoyed the scenery all around. The skating rink is a place of fashion and colour and is worth seeing. A view of the kempty fall and the snowcapped mountains, makes us praise God for His wonderful creation. The bright multi-coloured flowers, the tall pine trees, the high mountains made me forget the heat and busy life in the plains.

The next day after breakfast, we went to see the town. We visited the Kulri and Landour markets. They were crowded with tourists from different parts of the country. Like other visitors we also h bought various things, especially those made by the local people-shawls, cardigans and soft warm mufflers.

Mussoorie is a beautiful place to visit during the summer, as the climate is cool and there is so much to see and do. Our stay at Mussoorie was short, but the memory of my visit will remain for a long, long time.

We packed our woollens, umbrella, raincoats, etc., and boarded the train for Kathgodam. There we took a U.P. Roadways bus and reached Nainital.

We had made advance reservation for our stay at the Hotel. This hotel gave a fine view of the lake and mountains. At night it rained and it becomes very cold. But in the morning the sky was all clear. After breakfast we visited the Naini Peak and the China Peak. We spend a greater part of the day in the hotel. We enjoyed boating in the lake. We did some shopping in the market. We visited all other places in the town. Bhimtal and Bhowali are the two picnic spots. We enjoyed picnic and bathing in the sun on the bank of the lake. Sometimes, we sat in the balcony. It was a very exciting experience. We felt as if we were in a fairy land. The weather at Nainital changes rather suddenly.in

We had taken many photographs of the beautiful scenes. After two days we came back to Delhi.

Set 3: Essay On A Visit to a Hill Station

It has always been very hot summers in Mumbai every year. This summer my father decided to take us to Panchgani for a vacation. We were excited and eager to see the place.

We set out for Panchgani by car. At first we reached Pune. From Pune it took us about two hours to reach Panchgani. As we entered Panchgani, we were greeted by the beautiful sight of silver oak trees. These trees are tall, slender and graceful. They give beauty to the scenery.

We stayed at the Government Tourist Bungalow. It was a comfortable place. The climate was cool and pleasant. It was a welcome change from the burning heat of Mumbai. We spent our time by going for walks in the morning and evening. Our bungalow was situated on the side of a hill. It overlooked a deep green valley. It was fun to watch the sunrise and the sunset.

Panchgani has many schools and hotels because it is mainly a tourist resort. There are local residents and the staff of schools and hotels. The places worth visiting are Sidney Point and Table Land. Table Land is a vast stretch of flat land situated on the top of a hill. All the schools play their matches there. When climbing up to Table Land there is a hollow space known as the Devil’s Kitchen.

Panchgani has frequent showers in May. Then the place gets full of a variety of wild flowers and ferns. The mist comes down from the hills and covers everything with a white smoky curtain. Nature has provided Panchgani with beautiful scenery. Our long walks and the cool climate made us very hungry.

We ate our food with a hearty appetite. Mahabaleshwar, another hill-station, is only eleven miles away from Panchgani. We used to go to Mahabaleshwar every Sunday and enjoy boating on the lake. We enjoyed eating the Makai-butta, fresh carrots and corn-patties near the lake. We also did horse riding. We were sorry when our holiday was over. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this hill station. We came back happy and refreshed in body and mind.

A Visit to a Hill Station

A visit to a hill station is very interesting and informative. It takes one away from the scene of work and it provides real peace and rest. One is face to face with nature at hill station. In summer, a visit to a hill station is all the more rewarding. It is very hot in the month of May and June in the plains. One likes to slip away from the parched plains and spend a few days at some hill station. Last summer, I along with my cousin, Rahul, spent over two weeks at Dalhousie, a calm and beautiful hill-resort. We left for Pathankot by bus and from there we got a ride in a relative’s car. As we reached Banikhet, a cool wind welcomed us. A little later, the low sky sent showers down. At once, the atmosphere became pleasant. At Dalhousie, we stayed at the Youth Hostel where we had got a room reserved. We did not stay indoors in Dalhousie. In the mornings, we set out for important places in a around Dalhousie. We visited the ‘samadh’ of Sardar Bhagat Singh. We also went to see the house where Subhash Chandra Bose stayed during the days of his exile. One day, we went to see Khajjiar, a beautiful place known for its scenic beauty. Next day, we drove down to Chamba and stayed there for the night. At Chamba, we saw a museum, old temples and the royal palace. We had a stroll on the banks of the river Ravi. Back at Dalhousie, we had a good time. We went out for a morning walk daily at about seven. We roamed about in the deep valleys and saw nature face to face. The sight of the floating clouds attracted us the most. It was memorable visit to Dalhousie and it made us live on for a long time ever after.

India experiences very hot climatic conditions during the summer season. This summer season lasts for a longer duration. The plan of visiting a hill station during summers is the best way of making our summer holidays meaningful. It gives us great relaxation from the extremity of the heat of summers as well as enjoyment too.

What is meant by a Hill Station?

Hill stations are the cities or towns that are situated at little elevated points as compared to the nearest planes. They are the small forms of illustrating the real nature to us. They enrich us with the real beauty of nature. These places experience colder climatic conditions as they are situated at higher altitude. The hill stations in India are mostly ranging from an altitude of 1000m to 2500m. They are the best tourist spots for the people as they are the reservoir of the god-gifted beauty of nature. People also love to visit these places to get relaxed from the scorching heats of summers in the Plains.

My Experience of Visiting a Hill Station

Every one of us wishes to visit those places that we have only seen in pictures, movies or heard about. I always think that people who are already residing in those areas are most blessed. They are living in those places where we desire to visit. I have travelled to different places but did not get a chance to visit any of the hill stations. Luckily I got a chance last year to visit Mussoorie hill station during my summer holidays with my family. It is a hill station located in Uttrakhand. This trip was the birthday gift of my father to me.

  • Beginning of the Trip – We wanted to make our journey memorable and a little longer therefore we choose to travel by train. We boarded our train from Lucknow and it took about 12 hours to reach our desired destination. The train journey was also a beautiful experience for us and a good way of spending quality time with family. After reaching the destination i.e. Dehradun, we were picked up by cab to the way to our already booked resort near the Hill station. We were tired of the long journey so we decided to take a rest for some time. After getting refreshed we made a plan to visit the different places one by one.
  • Beautiful Places to Visit in Mussoorie – The weather was very pleasant over there unlike the hot weather conditions in the plains. We had already made a list of places to visit in Mussoorie. The driver of the cab also suggested some places as he was a native of that place. We first decided to visit Sir George Everest’s house. In his name, only Mount Everest has been named. It was a little far from the place where we were staying. All throughout the way I was most pleased to see the greenery. After reaching that place we saw the house of Sir George Everest. This place is a great spot to view the earnest beauty of Doon valley and the Himalayan mountain range.

Later we visited Lal Tibba, the highest point in Mussoorie that gives us the view of Kedarnath and the other mountain ranges by viewing through a telescope. The Camel road is the most interesting form of architecture. It is made like the hump of the camel and is most beautiful and soothing to walk upon. We also visited the Nag Devta Temple in Mussoorie. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Kempty Falls has a beautiful view with water falling from high mountains.

I wished that I would remain there for a longer time but we had to visit other places too. The Mussoorie Lake is a beautiful place to enjoy. We enjoyed the boat ride in the lake and had a close view of the Doon valley from there. I felt everything happening like a dream. Lastly, we visited Dhanaulti that provided us a great view of snow-clad mountains and valleys. I celebrated my birthday at this place only and clicked some memorable pictures.

  • The End of the Trip – Lastly, we reached our resort and had a delicious dinner in the restaurant of the resort itself. The balcony view of the resort was wonderful. It was the last day of our trip. Time passed so fast that we could not imagine that how our five days trip has passed. We had the returning train tickets for the morning. We were back to our home place with the beautiful memories of Mussoorie. This was the end of my beautiful trip to Mussoorie.

Are Hill Stations the Places that give us a Closer Essence of Nature?

Hill stations are blessed with great beauty and naturalist scenes of nature. They are places that are very close to nature. Visiting a hill station is about getting an opportunity to observe nature very closely. They are the places that are scarcely populated with very less or no pollution level that gives us the essence of the purity of nature.

I have visited Mussoorie a famous hill station that is located in Uttrakhand and is about 25 km away from Dehradun. The most pleasant weather, greenery, cleanliness, animals, birds, longer trees as if they are talking to the sky, clouds at lower height, Camel road, mall road as a shopping venue, delicious fast-food restaurants, waterfalls, scenes of snow clad mountain peaks, high mountain peaks, Doon valley, etc. make this hill station a great tourist spot.

I was overwhelmed by the beauty of that place. While clicking photographs I could not make sure that what scenes I should capture in my camera and what to left. I loved that place as I could enjoy nature peacefully by listening to the voice of falling water, the chirping of birds, and most important the view of beautiful landscapes. I think the hill stations are paradise on this earth and give us the beautiful essence of nature.

The beauty of that place is still fresh in my mind. It had been one of the most beautiful times that I had spent with my family. The memories of the Mussoorie cheer me from inside. I wish to visit that place again and again in my life.
