For the candidate belonging to the General category and OBC category an application fee of  Rs 100/-  is to be paid through either online or offline mode. SSC MTS Syllabus

The SSC MTS Exam Pattern and syllabus are discussed in this section.

The SSC MTS exam consists of two papers: SSC MTS Paper I and SSC MTS Paper-II.

SSC MTS Paper I is an objective type online mode examination consisting of 100 questions in total. It consists of four sections i.e. General Awareness, General Reasoning and Intelligence, English, and Numerical Aptitude.

Each section in the paper I is of 25 marks carrying 25 questions (1 mark for each question). There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks on each wrong attempt. Candidates are required to obtain the minimum qualifying marks to be called for the next round.

SSC MTS Paper-II is a descriptive type offline examination of 50 marks. Candidates have to write a short essay or letter to pass the elementary language test.

The Staff selection commission releases the SSC MTS syllabus along with the notification every year. SSC MTS syllabus is largely the same every year.

SSC Stenographer Syllabus

The SSC Stenographer exam pattern and syllabus are important to understand before starting with the preparation.

The SSC Stenographer exam consists of two stages:

• Computer Based Test

The exam pattern of the SSC Stenographer CBT exam is as mentioned below.

The computer-based test is an online objective type test. Candidates have to complete the CBT exam in 2 hours.  One mark is awarded for each right answer and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

SSC’s 21 new mission assignments include final GPS III mission

The United States Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC) has assigned 21 launch service mission assignments for the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Phase 2 Launch Service Procurement contract. This is the fifth and final order year in the Phase 2 contract.

United Launch Alliance (ULA) received 11 mission assignments and SpaceX received 10. These missions are scheduled to launch over the next two to three years and focus on a variety of mission areas.

The 11 missions assigned to ULA are:  GPS III-9, NROL-73, NROL-56, STP-5, SILENTBARKER 2/NROL-118, GPS IIIF-1, NROL-100, USSF-95, NROL-109, SDA T2TL-B and USSF-25.

The 10 missions assigned to SpaceX are:  SDA T1TL-F, SDA T1TR-A, USSF-57, NROL-77, SDA T1TR-E, GPS III-10, USSF-75, SDA T2TL-A, SDA T2TL-C and USSF-70.

NROL-77, NROL-73, NROL-56, NROL-109, and NROL-100 are missions being conducted in partnership with the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

T1TL-F is the last mission of six Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 1 Transport Layer launches. T2TL-A, T2TL-B and T2TL-C are the first three Tranche 2 Transport Layer launches. SDA’s Transport Layer aims to provide assured, resilient, low-latency military data and connectivity worldwide to the full range of warfighter platforms.

T1TR-A and T1TR-E are the last two SDA Tranche 1 Tracking Layer launches. The Tracking Layer aims to provide global indications, warning, tracking and targeting of advanced missile threats, including hypersonic missile systems.

The GPS III-9 and GPS III-10 missions are the final projected GPS III missions. The GPS IIIF-1 is the first launch of the follow-on GPS III satellites. GPS Block IIIF introduces several improvements and novel capabilities compared to previous GPS satellite blocks.

USSF-57 will launch the first of three next generation overhead persistent infrared GEO satellites. These satellites will deliver survivable, resilient missile warning, tracking, and defense in a highly contested and congested space domain.

SILENTBARKER 2/NROL-118 is a joint NRO and SSC Space Domain Awareness mission to meet U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and intelligence community space protection needs.

USSF-25 will launch the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operations (DRACO). The goal of the DRACO program is to demonstrate nuclear thermal rocket in orbit.

USSF-95 will be the first launch of a missile track custody (MTC) prototype satellite. The MTC prototype effort will evaluate the ability of various next generation overhead persistent infrared sensor designs to meet missile tracking requirements.

STP-5 is the latest mission in support of SSC’s Space Test Program (STP). The STP performs mission design, payload-to-bus integration, space vehicle-to-launch vehicle integration, and on-orbit operations for science and technology payloads that exhibit potential military utility. STP-5 will launch two satellites in support of the DOD’s Strategic Capabilities Office.

SSC exam routine published

The routine for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations 2022 has been published today.

The Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education released the routine for Dhaka, Rajshahi, Comilla, Jessore, Chittagong, Barisal, Sylhet, Dinajpur and Mymensingh boards.

According to the routine, SSC examination will begin on 15 September and continue till 15 October.

All examinations will be held from 2pm to 4pm.

In the face of the flood situation in the country's northeast region, the examinations were postponed on 17 June for an indefinite period.

The examinations were scheduled to be held between 19 June and 6 July.

Father Vincent W. McCarthy, SSC 1932-2024

Father Vincent W. McCarthy, a Columban missionary, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024.

The loving son of the late William and Lolita McCarthy, graduated from St Joseph’s Collegiate Institute 1951. He served with the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War. 

After his military service he entered the Columban Missionary Order, completing his religious studies in Ireland. Following his priestly ordination, he served as a Columban missionary with assignments in the Fiji Islands, Brazil, Peru and Mexico. 

Along the way, his love for sports and ice cream was a common language in all countries.

He will be remembered as the devoted brother of the late John McCarthy, Ann O’Brien and Susan Ryan. 

Visitation hours will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 4-8 p.m. at C. Mertz and Son Funeral Home, 911 Englewood Ave., Kenmore. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Kenmore.

The details are murky. In April, Hackmanac, a cybersecurity company, posted on X that about 2.9 billion records of personal data were for sale, from people in the United States, Canada and Britain. The data was supposedly stolen from National Public Data , a company that does background checks.

That company became the target of a class-action suit, which Bloomberg Law recently reported, contending that thieves got Social Security numbers in the breach. Bleeping Computer, a technology and security publication, rounded up reports of hackers leaking batches of the data.

We may never know the extent of the breach and the subsequent leak. But I’m not sure the details matter much.

Security breaches happen all the time. Thieves frequently find vulnerabilities in large systems and exploit them.

Our lack of data privacy and security is intensely hateful, but in the short and medium term, the only thing we can do is lock ourselves down as best we can.

Here are some reminders about how to do it.

Mets Activate Starling Marte, Designate Ben Gamel For Assignment

The Mets have activated veteran outfielder Starling Marte from the 10-day injured list, according to a team announcement. To make room for Marte on the active roster, the club has designated outfielder Ben Gamel for assignment. The club’s 40-man roster now stands at 39.

Marte, 35, is a two-time All-Star and veteran of 13 MLB seasons who first joined the Mets back in 2022. The outfielder’s time in New York got off to a strong start in his first season with the club when he slashed an excellent .292/.347/.468 (134 wRC+) in 505 trips to the plate. That earned him his second career All-Star appearance and even some down-ballot MVP votes, but the good times did not continue until his sophomore season with the Mets as he was plagued by injury woes and struggled to perform even in the 86 games where he was healthy enough to take the field with a lackluster 76 wRC+ thanks in large part to career-worst power numbers.

It was hard to know what to expect from Marte entering the 2024 season after battling groin, migraine, and neck issues the previous year. In terms of results on the field, Marte’s performance has been a clear success as he’s slashed a solid .278/.328/.416 (113 wRC+) while chipping in 12 stolen bases in 66 games. The downside, of course, is that Marte has been limited to just 66 games due to a bone bruise in his knee that sidelined him for nearly two months. Now that he’s once again active, Marte figures to work into a crowded outfield mix that currently features Brandon Nimmo and Jesse Winker in the outfield corners with Harrison Bader in center while Jeff McNeil also vies for occasional starts.

It’s not yet clear just how frequently Marte will start going forward given the strong performances of Bader and Winker this year, although it’s worth noting that Winker has slumped somewhat in 14 games since being dealt to New York by the Nationals. It’s possible that the Mets will use Marte as their usual starter in right field while allowing Winker to mix in to keep the oft-injured veteran fresh, perhaps also kicking Nimmo to center on occasion to get Winker into the lineup more often. At the very least, Marte appears to be a strong bet to make regular starts against lefty pitchers given the fact that Winker and Bader both sport lackluster numbers against southpaws.

Exiting the roster to make room for Marte is Gamel, a 32-year-old outfielder who has now played in parts of nine big league seasons. Initially a tenth-round pick by the Yankees back in 2010, Gamel made his big league debut with the club in 2016 but lasted just six games before being dealt to Seattle. He posted a roughly league average .264/.334/.392 slash line in four seasons as a regular with the Mariners and Brewers from 2017 to 2020 and has subsequently offered similarly average production at the plate while bouncing between Cleveland, Pittsburgh, San Diego, and Queens.

He’s stepped up to the plate just 30 times with the Mets at the big league level this year, posting a .217/.400/.261 in that minimal playing time but paired it with an excellent .314/.423/.539 line at the Triple-A level. With the trade deadline in the rear view mirror, Gamel figures to be placed on waivers in the coming days, where any team will have the opportunity to claim the outfielder and bring him into the fold. If he clears waivers, he’ll have the opportunity to elect free agency and return to the open market in search of an opportunity elsewhere, though it’s also possible he could remain with the Mets as non-roster depth.

It’s ‘24 , I would wonder if 18yrs later some rookie was still w/ the team then they would probably rank as one of the greatest Mets of all time.

2006 was a long time ago. Pretty certain no one remains from the 2015 NL pennant team either. Nimmo was likely on 40 man but didn’t make ML debut till following season. I believe he’s only current NYM from 2016 WC team

“Long time ago”…The Met’s ’16 “super rotation” of Degrom, “Dark Knight”, “Thor” and to a lesser extent Steven Matz, sure didn’t last long did it? It sure illustrates just how fleeting elite performance in professional sports can be.

Thor couldn’t learn to pitch without relying on his heater after TJ surgery, and Matt Harvey fizzled out soon after. Degrom, well he hasn’t been consistent either.

You forgot Tyrone Taylor in the outfield mix, he’ll probably be in the bench mix.

Gamel is on the move again. He’s one of several Yankees draft picks that have failed to make an impact in the MLB. The Yankees need to change immediately about drafting and developing players. Especially if this regime continues to throw money around at wrong the free agents and refuses to increase payroll.

If Marte is healthy and his old self the Mets lineup gets even better.

Huge step up from Gamel, for sure.

But he is quite possibly the worst defensive outfielder in MLB.

Not to mention his lack of hustle at times.

But he has one hell of an arm , accurate too.

Yep. That’s how bad his range is. 93rd percentile arm, 3rd percentile defender.

He’s missed so much time too, so all the counting OAA calculations are likely far more rosy than he really is.

Just hoping he regains some form so Mets might be able to move him (eating decent amount of his remaining salary) in the offseason. Mainly some salary/payroll relief with lottery prospect.

Might take a moment for Marte to get sea legs. NYM need him. For my money his injury absence in late 2022 was the reason team lost division late. He was a catalyst that season

Will Padres’ Yu Darvish Be Back in 2024? New Report Puts Chances at No Worse Than '50-50'

Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish effectively vanished from the major leagues after the franchise placed him on the restricted list in July. Padres manager Mike Shildt relayed the reason behind Darvish’s absence as an undisclosed family matter .

There is not a confirmed date for Darvish’s return to San Diego’s rotation. Two people close to Darvish revealed their predictions regarding when the Japanese right-hander will come back to baseball to the New York Post . One person said there is a “50-50” chance that Darvish will be back this season while the second person said the odds of him returning this season are higher. 

Despite being away from the Padres franchise, Darvish has been reported to be working out.

His hiatus from baseball came shortly after Darvish was sent on rehab assignment to the Fort Wayne TinCaps for a left groin strain in the beginning of June. The 2020 All-MLB First-Team selection last pitched on May 29 for three innings in the Padres' loss against the Marlins. 

The 2023 season was one of the worst in Darvish’s career. He posted the second-highest ERA of his career (4.56) and the highest since 2021. However, Darvish was beginning to look like his old self, logging a 3.20 ERA in 11 starts this season. Throwing 53 strikeouts and only 15 walks across 56.1 innings, Darvish was expected to be a key contributor as the Padres seek a spot in the playoffs. 

On a more positive note, Darvish’s break will also allow him to recover from injuries he sustained earlier this season. 

San Diego’s rotation is highlighted by three pitchers — Michael King (3.19), Dylan Cease (3.41), and Matt Waldron (4.00) — who have ERAs among the top 20 National League pitchers. The trio also ranks in the top 11 for least amount of hits allowed. The author of the Padres’ second no-hitter in history , Dylan Cease, sits in third in the National League for allowing only 99 hits. 

If Darvish can make his way back to the mound for the Padres this season, the five-time All-Star will certainly boost an already dominating rotation. Since returning from the All-Star break, the Padres have nearly guaranteed their spot in the playoffs as one of the three National League Wild Card teams.

In their last 22 games, the Padres are 19-3 — a team-record streak that makes the Padres a virtual lock for a playoff spot .
