Kylian Mbappé (born December 20, 1998, Paris , France) is a French football (soccer) player whose speed and goal scoring as an attacker have made him a dominant force in European club competition. In 2022 he became the first player in football history to have scored four career goals in World Cup finals.

Kylian Mbappé was born in Paris and grew up in Bondy, one of the Parisian suburbs (banlieues) with working-class, mostly immigrant residents. His mother, Fayza Lamari, is of Algerian descent, and his father, Wilfried Mbappé, had immigrated from Cameroon. Wilfried Mbappé was a coach and director for the local club AS Bondy, and his son joined the club’s youth teams at age six.

Kylian Mbappé quickly became known for his exceptional speed and ball handling, and, several years later, he was selected to train at Clairefontaine, France’s national academy for elite football players. He spent two years there, and a number of notable European clubs—among them Real Madrid , Arsenal , Chelsea , and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)—expressed an interest in signing him.

In 2013, at age 14, he signed with AS Monaco, which competes in Ligue 1 (France’s top-division league), and he played on the club’s youth and under-19 teams.

When Mbappé made his debut with AS Monaco’s first team—on December 2, 2015—he was just a few weeks shy of his 17th birthday. He was at that time the youngest first-team player in the club’s history. ( Thierry Henry had previously been the youngest.) Mbappé scored only one goal and saw limited playing time during the 2015–16 season.

In 2016–17, however, he scored 15 goals, which tied him for fifth among Ligue 1 players, and AS Monaco captured the Ligue 1 title. Powered by Mbappé and teammate Radamel Falcao, the team defeated Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund in knockout matches as it advanced to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League semifinals, where it lost to Juventus .

In August 2017 Mbappé moved to PSG, which also signed Neymar , a prolific Brazilian scorer. Together they led PSG to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles (2017–18, 2018–19, and 2019–20). Mbappé was named the league’s Player of the Year for the 2018–19 season, when he scored 33 goals, the most in Ligue 1. He led the league in goals in each of the next three seasons, and he again earned league Player of the Year honors in 2020–21, and 2021–22.

In 2021 PSG signed Lionel Messi , another of the world’s best football players, and the team, now featuring one of the most talented front lines in the history of the sport, won the Ligue 1 title in 2021–22. Mbappé subsequently agreed to a new contract that could, via an extension clause, keep him at PSG through 2025. The contract also, reportedly, made him the world’s highest-paid football player. In 2022−23, for the fifth season in a row, Mbappé led Ligue 1 in goals scored, and he was again named league Player of the Year; PSG also won another Ligue 1 championship. The 2023–24 season saw PSG win Ligue 1 again and Mbappé receive Player of the Year honors again—the team’s third consecutive title and Mbappé’s fifth consecutive win.

It was widely reported in February 2024 that Mbappé had informed PSG that he would not exercise his contract’s extension clause and thus intended to leave the club after the 2023–24 season. In May 2024 Mbappé said on social media he would be leaving PSG, and in June 2024 Real Madrid officially announced he would be joining that club.

biography of kylian mbappe

In 2016 at the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, Mbappé led France’s national team to victory. He played his first match with the French men’s national team in 2017, and he soon emerged as one of its main scoring threats. During the 2018 World Cup he became—at age 19—the youngest French player ever to score in World Cup competition. His goal gave France a 1–0 group-stage victory over Peru, and the French team advanced to the knockout stages of the tournament, where it eventually defeated Croatia 4–2 in the tournament’s final. Mbappé scored the last of his team’s goals, becoming the second teenager to score in a World Cup final. ( Pelé was the first, in 1958.) Mbappé received the World Cup’s Best Young Player award for his performance, which included scoring four goals.

In 2021 Mbappé scored the winning goal for France in the final of the UEFA Nations League tournament, defeating Spain. At the 2022 World Cup he scored eight goals in seven matches—the most of any player in the tournament, which won him the Golden Boot award. In the tournament final, Mbappé scored three goals and twice brought the French team from behind to tie Argentina, which was led by his PSG teammate Messi, but France ultimately lost on penalty kicks. With his three goals, Mbappé became the first player in history to have tallied four career World Cup final goals.

Mbappé’s success in international play for France made him a star in his home country, particularly in the banlieues where he grew up. When asked in a 2021 interview with Esquire magazine about what it means to be a “French icon,” he said,

I’ve always felt French. I don’t renounce my origins, because they are part of who I am, but I’ve made my whole life in France, and never at any moment was I made to feel I wasn’t at home here.

But in the wake of the French team’s lackluster performance in the run-up to the 2022 World Cup, Mbappé was subjected to racist abuse that, according to a 2022 interview with Sports Illustrated , made him consider leaving the team. In the end, he decided to stay:

But after, I take the reflection with all the people who play around me and root for me, and I think it was not the good message to give up. Because I think I’m an example for everybody.…This is the new France.…It’s for that, that I didn’t give up the national team. Because it is a message to the young generation to say, ‘We are stronger than that.’

Kylian MBAPPÉ

France

" Liberté, Égalité, Mbappé ." Few athletes have managed to capture the hearts and imaginations of a nation as Kylian Mbappé has done for France. In fact, many fans have playfully re-branded the country's slogan to emphasise their love for their brightest star.

Kylian Mbappé was born in Bondy, a suburb of Paris, in December 1998 to Wilfried Mbappé , a football coach of Cameroonian origin, and Fayza Lamari , a professional handball player of Algerian descent.

Kylian's footballing talent was evident from a very young age, and he quickly gained a reputation as a prodigious young talent. Mbappé began his career with the local club AS Bondy before making a move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in 2013. There, he made his professional debut at the young age of 16 .

The Frenchman swiftly made a mark with the southern French club. His lightning-quick pace (he has been measured as fast as 38 km/h) and goal-scoring ability played a pivotal role in Monaco's unlikely Ligue 1 title triumph in 2017 and their journey to the UEFA Champions League semifinals .

Kylian Mbappe's Rise to Stardom at PSG

In August 2017, Mbappé attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Real Madrid. However, he opted to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on an initial loan deal, which later became a permanent transfer for a reported fee of €180 million , making him the second most expensive player in the history of the sport.

At PSG, the striker continued to excel and break records. He earned multiple Ligue 1 Player of the Year awards and became the club's all-time leading goal-scorer , surpassing legends like Zlatan Ibrahimovic , Edinson Cavani , and Pedro Pauleta .

In the summer of 2022, as Mbappé's contract with PSG neared its expiration, he came close to joining European giants Real Madrid . However, in the closing days of the transfer window, he pledged his future to PSG and signed a new contract, reaffirming his connection with the French fans.

"I am convinced that here I can continue to grow within a club that gives itself all the means to perform at the highest level. I am also very happy to be able to continue to evolve in France, the country where I was born, grew up, and flourished," he remarked upon signing the new contract.

The love affair with the French public faced major upheaval in the summer of 2023 when PSG listed Mbappé on the transfer market, a year before his contract was set to expire. The striker trained separately from the first team as interest from Saudi Arabia emerged.

However, the 24-year-old declined to entertain the Middle East offers and could remain in the French capital until the end of his contract in the summer of 2024.

Shining with the French national team

In addition to his impressive club career in the French league, the 1.78m striker has shone for the national team since his debut in March 2017 at 18. He played a crucial role in guiding France to victory in the 2018 FIFA World Cup , scoring four goals during the tournament, including one in the final against Croatia. His performances earned him the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award .

The French ace played a pivotal role in his team's quest to retain the World Cup in the winter of 2022 in Qatar, only narrowly falling short in the final against Lionel Messi's Argentina. Mbappé scored three goals in the final, earning him the Golden Boot Award after finishing as the tournament's top scorer with eight goals.

Appointed French national team captain in 2023, he may be on the brink of participating in the Paris Olympics in his hometown, a tournament he has always dreamed of being a part of.

"It was when I watched the Olympic Games in London 2012 that I realised the importance of this global event. The Games are 'THE' reference in sports, the absolute Holy Grail that every athlete aspires to compete in and experience at least once in their lifetime," he expressed in an October 2021 interview with L'Equipe newspaper.

Introduction

(born 1998). French soccer (association football) player Kylian Mbappé helped lead France’s national team to the 2018 World Cup title. Four years later the star forward guided France to a runners-up finish at the World Cup and won the Golden Boot award as the tournament’s top scorer. Mbappé was also known for his standout play for European professional clubs.

Early Years

Kylian Mbappé Lottin was born on December 20, 1998, in Paris, France. His father was an immigrant from Cameroon. His mother was of Algerian descent. Mbappé grew up in the Parisian suburb of Bondy, where he was introduced to soccer at an early age. His father was a coach and director for the local club AS Bondy, and Mbappé competed on the club’s youth teams from the time he was six years old. His exceptional speed and dribbling skills set him apart from the other players.

Mbappé was eventually invited to train at the Clairefontaine institute, a national center for the development of elite soccer players. He spent several years at Clairefontaine. A number of prominent European clubs expressed an interest in signing him as a teenager. In 2013 he joined AS Monaco, which competes in Ligue 1, the French top-division league. Initially, Mbappé played on AS Monaco’s youth and under-19 teams.

Club Career

Mbappé made his debut with AS Monaco’s first team on December 2, 2015. Not yet 17 years old, he was at that time the youngest first-team player in franchise history. Mbappé saw limited playing time and notched only a single goal in 2015–16. His breakout season came in 2016–17, when he tied for fifth in Ligue 1 play with 15 goals. Behind the high-scoring performances of Mbappé and teammate Radamel Falcao, AS Monaco captured the Ligue 1 title that season. The team also advanced to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League semifinals, where it fell to the Italian powerhouse Juventus .

In August 2017 Mbappé moved within Ligue 1 to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). That same month PSG also signed Brazilian superstar Neymar . The two players led PSG to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles (2017–18, 2018–19, and 2019–20). In 2018–19 Mbappé topped the league with 33 goals and was named its Player of the Year. He went on to lead the league in goals in each of the next four seasons.

In 2021 PSG added to its star-studded roster by signing another of the world’s best players, Lionel Messi of Argentina. The trio of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé was widely heralded as a “dream team” and formed one of the most talented front lines in the history of the sport. PSG won three more Ligue 1 titles, triumphing in 2021–22, 2022–23, and 2023–24. Mbappé again earned league Player of the Year honors in 2020–21, 2021–22, 2022–23, and 2023–24.

It was widely reported in February 2024 that Mbappé had informed PSG that he intended to leave the club after the 2023–24 season. In May 2024 Mbappé publicly confirmed that he would be leaving PSG. The following month Real Madrid officially announced that he would be joining that club.

National Team Success

In 2016 Mbappé scored five times for France’s national under-19 team as he led the squad to victory at the UEFA European Under-19 Championship. He played his first match with France’s senior national team the following year.

Mbappé quickly emerged as one of France’s main scoring threats. At the 2018 World Cup he scored to give France a 1–0 group-stage victory over Peru. He thus became—at age 19—the youngest French player ever to score in World Cup competition. The win sent France into the knockout stages of the tournament. The team advanced to the final, where it defeated Croatia 4–2. Mbappé notched the last of France’s goals, becoming the second teenager to score in a World Cup final (after Pelé in 1958). Mbappé finished the tournament with a total of four goals. He received the World Cup’s Best Young Player award for his performance.

Mbappé continued to play brilliantly for France. In 2021 the French team claimed the UEFA Nations League title. Mbappé delivered the winning goal in a 2–1 victory over Spain in the final. At the 2022 World Cup he earned the Golden Boot award with eight goals in seven matches. Mbappé powered France to a second consecutive appearance in the World Cup final, where the team faced an Argentine squad captained by Messi. Although Mbappé scored a hat trick (three goals) and twice brought his team back to tie Argentina, France ultimately lost on penalty kicks. With the hat trick, Mbappé became the first player in history to have tallied four career World Cup final goals.

Mbappe and the French National team

France would become World Cup champions in 2018, and on their way to soccer’s biggest prize, Mbappe scored against Peru, played his best match against Argentina in the round of 16 scoring two goals, and added one in the exciting final against Croatia.

After winning the FIFA World Cup, France would go on to win the UEFA Nations League 2020-21, where Mbappe scored four goals. In a total of only 57 appearances for France, Mbappe has scored 27 international goals. The striker has collected a total of 14 titles between his career with Monaco, France, and PSG.

Mbappé will receive a net salary of around 20 million euros, which would amount to 50 million gross for the club. Although it may seem unbelievable, this is less than what he earned at PSG, which was 72 million gross.

The French star also earns around $13 million yearly from endorsements with Nike, Video Game company EA Sports and Hublot. For the 2022 World Cup, Mbappe’s public image will only increase as he is one of the faces of the tournament.

As of June 2022, Mbappe became an investor and ambassador for the NFT fantasy sport platform Sorare. He is also a partner in the Sports agency WME, and he founded Zebra Valley , a content creation agency that focuses on sports, music, art and many other topics.

The current Real Madrid player has become the majority shareholder of Caen, a Ligue 2 club in France. Mbappé has agreed to pay around 20 million euros to acquire 80% of the club's shares.

After helping Monaco to win the Ligue 1 title in the 2016-17 campaign, Mbappe ended up joining Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017 in an initial loan deal.

His switch to PSG was made permanent in 2018 and he quickly established himself as a regular fixture in the first-team at the French club.

Mbappe represented France at various youth levels and made his senior debut for the international team in 2017. He was part of the France team who won the World Cup in Russia in 2018.

So, what do we know about Mbappe’s journey to becoming the talented footballer he is today? This is his story.

Early Life, Parents And Upbringing

Kylian Mbappe (full name: Kylian Mbappe Lottin) was born on 20 December 1998 in Paris, France. Mbappe was raised in Bondy, Seine-Saint-Denis, which is a commune not far from the centre of Paris.

Mbappe’s father, Wilfrid, is originally from Cameroon, and his mother, Fayza Lamari, is Algerian. Kylian has a younger brother named Ethan, who is also a footballer.

As a youngster, Mbappe has revealed that he looked up to Cristiano Ronaldo as one of his main footballing idols. “Cristiano was my idol when I was young and it was great to meet him when I went to [Real’s training ground] Valdebebas. I adored him when I was young,” said Mbappe in December 2017.

Youth Career

Mbappe started his youth career at AS Bondy, where he was coached by his father Wilfrid.

Antonio Riccardi, an under-13s coach at AS Bondy at the time, explained that Kylian’s talent was evident from the outset.

“His father is like my second father so I knew Kylian as a baby but the first time I coached him was when he was six years old,” Riccardi told BBC Sport in 2018. “Just a few months after he had started playing here for the debutants age group you could tell he was different.

“Kylian could do much more than the other children. His dribbling was already fantastic and he was much faster than the others.”

Mbappe was at the famous Clairefontaine academy between the age of 12 and 15 but initially continued to play for AS Bondy.

He was scouted by a number of top European clubs, with Real Madrid having invited him to train with their under-12s and visit the club’s facilities when he was just 11 years old.

However, he eventually ended up deciding to move to AS Monaco, with the youngster joining the club’s youth set-up in the summer of 2013.

After having initially been brought in to Monaco’s B-Team set-up, Mbappe was quickly promoted to the first team following his impressive performances.

He made his first-team debut for Monaco on 2 December 2015 as a late substitute in a 1–1 Ligue 1 home draw against Caen. His appearance made him Monaco’s youngest-ever first team player, aged 16 years and 347 days and beating the record previously held by Thierry Henry.

Kylian scored his first goal for Monaco on 20 February 2016, netting late in a home 3–1 league win over Troyes. Aged 17 years and 62 days, he became the club’s youngest first team goal-scorer.

Following his impressive displays, Mbappe was rewarded when he signed his first professional contract with AS Monaco on 6 March 2016. The deal was initially set to run until the summer of 2019.

“I’m very happy and very proud to sign my first professional contract AS Monaco,” Mbappe said at the time. “This is the club that has helped me grow, I feel good here and I’m going to be able to continue taking new steps forward.”

The 2016-17 campaign was a breakthrough season for Mbappe as he established himself as a regular fixture in the first team at Monaco. He scored 15 goals in 29 league games to help Monaco win the Ligue 1 title. In total, Mbappe netted 26 goals in 44 games in all competitions that season.

Mbappe scored a total of 27 goals in 60 games for Monaco’s first team before a move to Paris beckoned.

Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain completed a deal to sign Mbappe from AS Monaco on 31 August 2017, initially on loan and with an option to make the move permanent for a fee of €180m (£165.7m). He was handed the number 29 shirt.

“It is with great joy and pride that I join Paris Saint-Germain,” Mbappe said as the transfer was announced. “For any young person from the Paris region, it is often a dream to wear the red and blue jersey and experience the unique atmosphere of the Parc des Princes.

He went on to score 13 goals in 27 league games as he helped PSG to win the Ligue 1 title.

His transfer to PSG was made permanent in the summer of 2018, with the club triggering the clause to complete the transfer – worth €180m plus bonuses – in February 2018.

Mbappe continued to impress in front of goal at PSG in the seasons that followed, netting more than 100 goals in 207 games in all competitions for the French side. PSG lifted the Ligue 1 trophy in in 2018-19 and 2019-20. They also won the Coupe de France in 2017–18, 2019–20 and 2020–21.

Net Worth, Wages And Salary

Although there is no official figure for Kylian Mbappe’s net worth, several media outlets have attempted to estimate the number.

British newspaper, The Daily Mirror , estimated that Mbappe’s net worth stood at around $95m (£72m) in December 2021.

Meanwhile, Forbes reported in April 2021 that Mbappe pockets yearly earnings of $40m, with $26m of that coming from his salary and $14m from sponsorships and endorsements.

The Daily Star reported that Mbappe earned a salary of £410,000 per week at PSG in January 2022.

Life Away From The Pitch

Speaking in an interview with Time magazine in 2018, Mbappe opened up about how his life had changed since being catapulted into the spotlight thanks to his footballing talent.

“My life has been totally turned upside down,” said Mbappe in 2018 . “I am happy, and I am living the life I always dreamed of. I think I might have missed out on something. I did not have the moments of so-called normal people during adolescence, like going out with friends, enjoying good times.”

At the time of writing, Mbappe had more than 68 million followers on Instagram.

What Have Others Said?

Arsene Wenger, speaking about Mbappe in February 2017: “Mbappe has similarities to Thierry Henry. He has a huge talent. But of course, after that, what makes the career after is the mental aspect that Thierry had. This young boy has to show that he has similar qualities on the mental front that Thierry had.”

Thierry Henry, speaking about Mbappe in March 2017: “I don’t like comparing players – Mbappe has to become Mbappe and that is all. But my word, he is good. Ooh la la. l really like watching him play.”

England legend Gary Lineker, speaking about Mbappe in the summer of 2021: “Mbappe is already a global superstar who is most likely to jump in the shoes of Cristiano Ronaldo, but not Lionel Messi – he can do things that others simply can’t.

“Talent-wise, there’s no question. It’s more about whether he has the same drive to sustain his career over 17, 19 years like the two of them (Ronaldo and Messi). It’s quite remarkable and it takes something special to do that.”

Carlo Ancelotti gives blunt response to Kylian Mbappe criticism

  • Mbappe has scored once in three Real Madrid games since free transfer from PSG
  • France captain blanked in two La Liga matches after goal in UEFA Super Cup
  • Madrid take on Las Palmas on Thursday night

By Jude Summerfield | Aug 29, 2024

Mbappe has scored once for Ancelotti's Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti says Kylian Mbappe is still adapting to life at Real Madrid and fans should not be worried about the France captain's start to life in Spain.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward opened his account for his new club during the UEFA Super Cup triumph over Atalanta but is yet to score another goal, blanking against Mallorca and most recently Real Valladolid .

Mbappe is regarded as one of the most lethal finishers in the modern game and, after scoring 44 goals in all competitions last season, will almost certainly start hitting the back of the net for his new club sooner rather than later.

Ancelotti said as much during a press conference before Madrid 's clash with Las Palmas on Thursday, insisting neither he nor the player are worried about a potential goal drought manifesting.

The Italian said: "Each year the team changes, the structure of the team changes, that's quite normal.

"Last year we needed time too. Early on, we won a lot of games in the last few minutes. We have to adjust the team a bit this year and find its best version.

"We've got a lot of resources. We've had three games and scored six goals, with the team not being at its best. Not scoring goals won't happen, it's never happened here.

Kylian Mbappe

"The last goal Mbappe scored was 14 August [in the Supercup] and today is 28 August. That's two weeks. It isn't the time to worry. He isn't worried, and neither are we. Vinicius [Junior] hasn't scored in three games, and he doesn't look worried.

"What we need is a compact team. The work of the forwards is important, and of the defenders. If a forward presses and the defence doesn't step up, the team isn't compact. If the defence drops deep and the forward doesn't drop, the team isn't compact. It isn't about individuals."

Mbappe is yet to score in two La Liga games so far but can get off the mark at Estadio de Gran Canaria on Thursday night when his side take on a Las Palmas side without a win so far this season.

MADRID (AP) — Kylian Mbappé remained scoreless and defending champion Real Madrid settled for a 1-1 draw at Las Palmas in the Spanish league on Thursday.

Mbappé, Madrid’s biggest signing in years, is yet to score in the league this season. His only goal with Madrid came in the team’s UEFA Super Cup victory against Atalanta earlier this month.

It was Vinicius Junior who scored for Madrid, which beat Valladolid 3-0 in the previous round but had opened its title defense with a 1-1 draw at Mallorca.

“It’s been difficult for us to be as solid as we were last season,” Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said. “We need to find a solution quickly, and I think we are going to find it. It has been harder than expected. These first three matches showed me a lot of things that have not been working well.”

Vinicius found the net for his first league goal this season by converting a 69th-minute penalty kick after a handball inside the area.

The hosts had taken the lead five minutes into the match after Alberto Moleiro got past a couple of defenders before finding the net from inside the area.

Young Brazil forward Endrick, who scored against Valladolid in his debut, came off the bench in the 86th to replace Vinicius Junior.

Las Palmas is yet to win this season, having drawn against Sevilla and lost at Leganes.

Barcelona on Tuesday became the only team with three wins in the first three rounds after a 2-1 victory at Rayo Vallecano.

Girona’s first win

Girona, the surprise team last season after a third-place finish, earned its first win with a 4-0 rout of Osasuna at home.

Bryan Gil scored in the first half, then Viktor Tsygankov, Abel Ruiz and Cristhian Stuani sealed the victory in the second.

Girona had opened with a draw and a loss. Osasuna had a draw and a win from its first two matches.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has absolved star signing Kylian Mbappe of responsibility for the defensive lapses which have contributed to an indifferent start to the season.

Having won only one of their three league fixtures to date, the LaLiga champions head into Sunday’s home clash with Real Betis sitting fifth in the table, seven points behind leaders Barcelona who have played a game more.

Ancelotti has acknowledged the collective frailty which has seen his side only draw at Real Mallorca and Las Palmas , but has no problem with the way Mbappe is adapting to his new challenge in the Spanish capital.

He told a press conference: “If you think about defensive work, Mbappe is the last one we have to consider.

“He’s playing very well, he’s caused a threat. He hasn’t scored many goals, but he’s moving around very well. There’s no problem with adaptation.

“The focus is on defensive work and this should be collective, but obviously, a forward’s work in defence has to be less committed because that’s not his main role.”

Mbappe, a summer arrival from Paris St Germain, is yet to open his LaLiga goal account and his on-field relationship with Vinicius Junior has been a point of focus.

We won't have any issues offensively, we've never had any problems and even less so this season when we have the best players in the world.

However, Ancelotti said: “I think they’re playing well together. The problem of scoring isn’t a small detail, because obviously it’s important for a forward.

“You can always play better, faster and show more movement, but the offensive problem isn’t specific to these games because we’re scoring in all of them and I’m sure we’ll improve. The problem isn’t there.

“With time, Mbappe and Vini Jr will combine better, but also Mbappe with the midfielders. We won’t have any issues offensively, we’ve never had any problems and even less so this season when we have the best players in the world.”

Madrid won the league by 10 points last season and their start has raised eyebrows, but Ancelotti is not remotely concerned and is happy to take the criticism which has come their way on the chin.

He said: “That’s completely normal. We’re not worried at all. We’re going to have criticism until May at some points, it’s quite normal whatever happens.

“Being worried isn’t bad because it means you’re dealing with the problem at hand. When the problem is clear, it’s fairly easy to solve.”

Betis, who have opened their campaign with back-to-back draws with Girona and Alaves, added Tottenham’s Argentina international Giovani Lo Celso to Manuel Pellegrini’s squad on Friday.
