This paper describes the holistic approach of an academic institution in pursuing the environmental dimension of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) is host of the Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) Greater Dhaka. It has been taking various steps, based on the Global Actions Program (GAP), to support sustainable education. The sustainability practices include energy saving, waste water reuse, waste management, tree plantation, reduction of carbon footprint, greening the campus, etc. IUBAT, as the RCE Greater Dhaka, is a pioneer institution playing a crucial role in disseminating sustainable education to students, youth and the wider community. This requires a combined effort of the IUBAT faculty, students, administration and operations staff. The RCE Greater Dhaka has a nationwide impact because first, it is providing a model educational institution for sustainable activities in Bangladesh and second, it is training resource persons (such as students trained in sustainable knowledge) who will take a leading role in Bangladesh's future. This study discusses some positive achievements.

Bangladesh suffers scores of manmade environmental issues, like air pollution, water pollution, sound pollution, soil erosion, deforestation and dumping waste materials etc. leading to many natural disasters, such as flood, cyclones, draught, hill collapse and the like round the year. For greater welfare of the country as well as its people, environmental consciousness is a must and increasingly demanded among the teeming young generation, of who a greater number are students. Among the students, almost all pursue English language skills at various institutes, for English is mandatory in all academic stages as well as in attaining a better career in this country. Hence, English lessons focusing environmental awareness and guidance can lead the learners to play commendable transformative roles in protecting the environment from further degeneration. Accordingly, this study intends to explore the possibility of enacting green pedagogy concentrating atmospheric betterment in the EFL classrooms in Bangladesh. In the process, it attempts to find out the pragmatic approaches to converge EFL instructions and green natural phenomena to succeed in achieving two targets simultaneously, one being improved English language skills and another being consolidated environmental awareness. Message from the Secretary of State

The State Department is our nation’s oldest cabinet agency, our nation’s lead foreign affairs agency, and its employees are the face of the United States to the rest of the world.  In order to effectively pursue our foreign policy goals and ensure our national security, it is imperative we create a workforce that truly reflects the country we represent.

Our country’s diversity is our greatest strength.  When we fully leverage everyone and everything our nation has to offer, our foreign policy is stronger, smarter, and more creative.  As I said in my confirmation hearing, I will measure the success of my tenure based on how well we can recruit and retain a workforce that looks like America.  Within the first few months of my administration, I appointed the Department’s first-ever stand-alone Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, who reports directly to me and leads the newly created Secretary’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion.  I also created the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council to help achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the following Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Strategic Plan.

Together, we will ensure that the Department of State is a leader in government-wide efforts to advance DEIA goals for the federal workforce.  In doing that, we will also be able to ensure that the Department itself is in the strongest possible position to deliver for the U.S. people in an increasingly diverse, complex, and interconnected world.
