A Visit To A Village Essay

It was the month of July when our school decided to take us to see a typical Indian Village. We were all very excited and got on the school bus and were on our way to the village.

As soon as the bus reached the village called Garhi, a crowd of children gathered all around. Apparently. a school bus was not a common sight in the village. They stared at us as we got down from the bus and then started talking to each other pointing with their fingers at the various features of the bus that interested them.

The first thing that struck us was that the village was very different from the city. There were brick houses painted with yellow or blue paint. There were puddles of water here and there where the rainwater had collected. Outside the houses was an open gutter filled with filthy water with mosquitoes floating on it.

The chief of the village came to greet us and to take us around. He first took us to see the temple. We passed through the narrow muddy lanes with scarcely space for two people to walk abreast. The villagers collected on the corner of the street or stood in their doorways to look at us. They were quite surprised to see school children paying them a visit.

The temple was built of brick and stone and was painted white. There was a hall and in strong contrast to the muck outside, was surprisingly clean. The hall was cool and we were amused to see the priest lying on a “Charpoy” with his mouth open. There were three small rooms for the idols of the Gods and Goddesses but these were locked at this time of the day.

We were next taken to see the primary school. The school was a yellow building with five or six rooms. I peeped into one classroom and saw the teacher standing by her desk and the children reciting arithmetic tables in sing-song voices. We were told that the school was up to the fifth standard. The younger children were fairly regular but afterward, the attendance dropped because parents would take them away to work in the fields or to help them at home to mind their younger brothers and sisters while the parents were away at work. We had created quite a disturbance in the school and the teachers and children all stopped their work and gaped at us. So we quickly left and were taken to the fields.

The farmlands offered a lovely sight. There was a cool breeze blowing. The tall green stalks of grain seemed to wave at us. The fields stretched on endlessly till the eye could see. Here and there in the midst of the fields, there were scarecrows with their loose clothes and hats waving in the breeze and frightening away the birds. Farmhouses built of mud and thatched roofs could also be seen. After being told the various method used for irrigating the land, and the dependence of the farmers on the right weather conditions, we were taken to see the community center.

The community center was a big hall where women were taught to stitch clothes and adult education classes were held. These activities were conducted by social workers who visited the village three times a week for this purpose. The chief of the village was very proud of it, for that was one achievement to his credit since he had put in a lot of effort to get it built and move government agencies to send social workers to the village. He said he was now trying to get a dispensary built and again request the government to send qualified doctors to the village. We were all quite impressed by the enthusiasm and dedication of this man to uplift his village.

Finally, we went home. We felt sorry for the villagers who were still living in such backward conditions. In spite of the efforts of the social workers, we could see that it would still be a long time before one could be proud of that village.

Description of My Village

My village exists in a low lying area that has a warm summer and a chilly winter. Mostly I visit my village in summers because of the holidays. Although the village is far cooler than the city during the summer. Also, you do not need air conditioners in a village because of the breeze. In a village you see greenery and almost every household has a minimum of one tree in their courtyards.

In addition, the thing that I like the most about my village is the fresh and revitalizing air. The air gives a feeling of refreshment even if I have slept for 4-5 hours. Most importantly, at night I see and count stars which I can’t do in the city.

My village is a small village with a population of only two hundred people. My village’s name is Bolpur. It is 150kms away from the main city of Kolkata. I visit my village once a year during my Dussehra vacation. I go there with my parents during this time to our ancestral house where Durga Puja takes place every year. 

As the car turns to take the muddy road, I can feel the freshness in the air. The road that leads to the village has big trees on either side and they are so full of life as if they are dancing with joy to welcome us to their village. I have never seen such a breathtaking scene. There is a temple at the entrance of the village where often prayers, rituals, and other worshipping activities are taking place.. There is a big pond near the temple and is surrounded by mango trees, champak trees, and a big peepal tree. The smell of the flowers and mango buds attracts everyone’s attention. My ancestral home is behind the peepal tree. 

There is a primary school in my village where the village kids study with a lot of enthusiasm. I love watching them, while the classes are going on, but right now for the Durga Utsav, the school is closed. There is a small dispensary with a doctor and a nurse. They can take care of basic illnesses like fever and stomach pain. For complicated ailments and medicines, the people have to go to the neighboring town. There is a small grocery shop where the basic necessities for sustenance are available. Besides the grocery shop, there is a tea stall with some snacks available. The tea stall is the prime meeting point for all the villagers during the evening time, even in other hours of the day the stall is never empty. It is always full of people sipping tea and chatting, breaking the world’s news to each other. There is a post office in my village. 

My favorite spot is a small rivulet. I love going there and spending time because beyond the rivulet lay are acres of grasslands and hills. For an artist, it will be a perfect picture to paint. All, young and old swim and bathe in the rivulet. The main occupation of the villagers is farming. Whenever I come to my village, I feel immense pleasure because of its peaceful and serene environment. I get to enjoy some fresh and organic vegetables and fruits here. The people in my village are very helpful and they live in harmony with no grudges. They live like one big family who always takes care of each other. We can hardly find this act of compassion back in the city. 

My village is a small abode for happy people.  Here they live in harmony and peace. The village people are very hardworking and thus they must have a good source of upliftment. Like the village’s schools and clinics should be maintained and increased in number. The farmers should be facilitated by helping them to leverage their sales, make them notified about the modern techniques used in farming, and give them compensation and knowledge of the true market price of their crops. Thus, I would request governmental authorities to come forward and uplift the medical, educational, and farming facilities in the village.

I once went to a village named Haripur. My grandparents live there, and we had gone to visit them. We first had a long ride by bus. From there we took a tonga to the village. There was no road, only a wide mud path.

Haripur is a small village. All the houses were made of mud. There were one or two brick buildings—one for the post office and another for the local health center. My grandfather is the village head. His house was also cemented.

There was not a single road in the village. Some of the streets were very muddy and wet. There were hens, goats, and buffaloes roaming around everywhere. I could not see any men on the streets. I asked my father and he told me that all the men worked in the fields the whole day.

I saw some boys and girls studying beneath a shady tree. I was surprised to know that it was the school. I thought of the grand building of my own school back home and realised how lucky I was.

My grandparents welcomed us warmly into their home. They hugged me so often that I thought my bones would break. My grandmother had prepared many tasty dishes for us. Many people from the nearby houses came to see the people from the city. I felt very shy when they touched my clothes and my watch in wonder.

In the evening we went for a walk in the fields. The green mustard plants with their yellow, flowers were growing everywhere. A soft breeze was blowing. I felt I had come to paradise. The dust and noise of the city seemed far away. I shall never forget my visit to my village.

When someone from Delhi visits a village, he seems to be transported to a different planet. Life moves so fast in a city that the residents find it difficult to keep up with the pace. The automobiles can be seen everywhere. Everyone seems to be running from place to place. Animals and birds seem to have disappeared or migrated to some other lands.

It was my first visit to a village that is not far away from Delhi. Only one bus goes there in the morning and returns in the evening. The passengers had not only put milk drums in the bus but also carried huge bags. Some of them were sitting on the roof. As we passed through the link road, there were green fields all around. The farmers had sown the winter crop and were watering the plants carefully. I had never come across such a vast green expanse anywhere in the city.

The bus stopped near a pond that emitted a foul smell. I covered my nose till we moved on. We were supposed to reach a school. The lane was covered with mud. As we started, some cows and buffaloes came from behind. They ran into one another and could have trampled me but I was saved due to my alertness.

An old man was sitting on a cot, smoking a hookah (hubble-bubble). Some children were playing around him. It looked as if life had come to a standstill. When I requested a villager to guide me to the school, he asked a small boy to take me there. There was a small building with only two rooms. The students were sitting on coir mats. They were writing on the wooden plates called takhties. There was dullness all round. I could not hear noise of any kind except the barking of a few dogs.

There were a few well-dressed young men who told me that they were employed in the city. They had come there to visit their relatives. I was told that there were no shops or medical facilities in the village.

I have decided that I shall work for the improvement of these villages when I grow up.

My Village Essay: Life in a Village

The name of my village is Fitkari. It is located in Mawana, a small town in the city of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. It was primarily the village of my grandfather, where he was born and brought up. Because of that familial association, we find this village really beautiful. My family and I often go back to live there for a couple of days to relax far away from the hustle of city life.

I was born in New Delhi. My father works in a government school there that goes by the name of Mayura Public School. We have always admired the city, the extravagance and glory of the place. For us, thinking of living in a village was out of the question. However, our opinion changed later on.

My village smells of petrichor. I can tell with my eyes closed whenever our car moves into that part of town. This authenticity is what makes me fall for it even more. Visit to a Village

For the people of the cities and town, village is a very beautiful and rejuvenating place. After living years of hectic and stressful life in the city, everybody needs to take a break to relax and rejuvenate their mind and body. One of the ideal places to relax and unwind is the village. One of my friends lives in a village. Last year, during the puja vacation I visited his village. It is nearly two hours journey from Kolkata. I stayed there with my friend for four days and it was one the best holidays of my life. The name of his village is Madhupur and it is located in the 24 Parganas (North) under Jainagar Police Station. The population of the village is approximately 6,000 only. The morning scene of a village is really an experience to remember. Watching the sunrise is really a memorable experience. Unlike most city folk the villagers get up very early in the morning and start their daily chores. They are really a hardworking lot. I went for a walk in the village in the morning. The scenic beauty of the village road was quite beautiful to watch. There were ponds and green fields alongside the roads. Even the paddy fields on either side of the roads were covered with green crops. I saw the farmers plouging their field. I could feel the cool breeze of the morning as I walked along the road. Little ahead I saw some boys and girls going to school. There are no school bus services in the villages. So the children have to walk to their schools. It was quite eye-catching to see them walk in a straight line to go to school. It was very encouraging to see education fostering even among the village children. While walking down the village road, one can hear different birds singing among the big trees. The sweet voice of the cuckoo was the most enchanting one to hear early in the morning. Night air was another beautiful experience. The moonlight filled up the entire village. Since there were no street lights the moon seemed to shine brightly. For food, I had different preparations all made from garden fresh vegetables. Fish caught from the pond were really very tasty to eat. A village is definitely a beautiful place to go for a vacation. Unlike our city all the people of the village know each other. I really enjoyed my stay in the village with my friend very much.

In origin, I’m from Bangladesh. But after the partition, my family came and settled in a remote village in Murshidabad. Presently, I stay in Kolkata with my parents, but several times I have heard my father remember his childhood days in the village.

During the vacations, I often visit the village. People are so innocent there and all of them love us so much. They care for their nature and do not harm it like the urban people. Also, they have still kept their tribal festivals intact. I love to enjoy their traditional food and this bonding between my people in the village. Whenever I visit my village, it has always been so ni experience.

Since my childhood days, I used to fantasize about spending my life in our ancestral village. Staying in a village has never been an opportunity for me because I am born and brought up in the city. We hardly get a chance to meet my ancestral people in the village of Murshidabad. The story goes back to the partition of India when my great grandparents migrated from Bangladesh and settled in Murshidabad to protect their families. At that time they were extremely poor and had a humble income to spend their days. They were followed by many others.

The village is now much more developed than it was when first inhabited. When I visit the village with my parents, during the vacation, it gets quite enjoyable to meet them after a long time. The clean air and water are beautiful with pure fruits and vegetables to eat. The reads are of red soil and soft to walk over. The humble neighbour of that village is the main reason I love my village. 

Some of our relatives still live in the village. Their primary profession is agriculture. During my visit, my cousins took me to show the agricultural fields. It was totally a mesmerizing experience. The entire horizon was green and such a peaceful life that I could never experience in the city.

Life in a village is much different from what we experience in the city. The urban lifestyle does not provide us with all views of the Earth. The world has much more greenery and beauty than it seems to us. The city definitely gives a modern life, better infrastructure, more communication, and quick connections. But it also takes away the natural goodness from us.

I find myself extremely lucky to think that I am from a village. I stay in a distant village in the suburbs of Darjeeling. The best part of living in a village is that I can stay far away from the daily crowd of the city. The city is too confusing and suffocating for me. I cannot bear staying there even for a week. I always crave the peace I get in my own village. The village called Kasaimara is extremely beautiful in its flora and fauna. The air is clean and pure like the innocent people of my village.

We do not have many modern amenities like the city. We often face problems with network and communication, we do not have good schools or hospitals. But still, the peace of nature allows us to live a long and healthy life. I love to take long walks up the hill slopes in the morning or often cycle all the way. It saves the cost of taking any gym practice and is also helpful in maintaining a healthy body and peaceful mind. 

Due to no pollution, we always have a majestic view of the mountains from our village. Around 50-50 families live in our village. For weekend and holiday picnics, all our villagers come together and celebrate with our ethnic music and dance. It is not like the mechanical life of the city. Everything we do here has a spontaneous charm and is full of life.

The environment of my village is so beautiful. The people work hard to preserve ethnic integrity. We have a rich history o folktales and myths. As a child, I often heard my grandparents tell me stories about them. They are precious and innocent like the people. They easily befriend other members, even from a different community. My village celebrates our own tribal festivals with great enjoyment and pomp. I am extremely lucky that I am a proud villager of India. We do not have many facilities, but at the end of the day, we are at peace with ourselves and others.

There are some disadvantages too. I am pretty confused about the medical and treatment system. Because there are not such experienced doctors. That’s the biggest concern for me.

Sohana is a small village. All the houses were made of mud. There were one or two brick buildings-one for the post office and another for the local health center. My grandfather is the village head. His house was also cemented.

There was not a single road in the village. Some of the streets were very muddy and wet. There were hens, goats and buffaloes roaming around everywhere.

I could not see any men on the streets. I asked my father and he told me that all the men worked on the fields the whole day.

I saw some boys and girls studying beneath a shady tree. I was surprised to know that it was the school. I thought of the grand building of my own school back home, and realised how lucky i was.

My grandparents welcomed us warmly into their home. They hugged me so often that I thought my bones would break. My grandfather had prepared many tasty dishes for us. Many people from the nearby houses cane to see’the

people from the city’. I left very shy when they touched my clothes and my watch in wonder. In the evening we went for a walk in the fields.

The green mustard plants with their yellow flowers were growing everywhere. A soft breeze was blowing. I felt I had come to paradise. The dust and noise of the city seemed far away. I shall never forget my visit to my village.

All the villagers gather there at every festival and celebrate the moment together. People usually grow vegetables on their farms. Others have to go to the nearby grocery shops for buying things. There are only few shops selling only basic things. For more amenities, people have to walk to nearby markets.

The roads in my village have many potholes and are very narrow. There are only a few means of transport available to travel to nearby places. There is one government hospital and one school. However, in case of serious issues, they have to go to the city for treatment. Although it lacks many facilities, still people live happily in villages.

The environment of my village is very pleasant. There are trees everywhere. Almost all families are engaged in agriculture. People who live in villages are more dedicated to their work than people who live in cities. They also have more strength and capacity than city dwellers. They work throughout the day on farms and return home in the evening.

Due to the good population of trees, the atmosphere remains cool throughout the day and night. Most of the houses are made up of mud and grass. The whole village lives in peace and harmony, and there are no conflicts of any kind. Villagers help each other when they are sad or happy, and they are very friendly.

Life in a village is totally different from that in cities. Since village people lack certain facilities and luxuries of living but they are blessed with the pure nature. I live in a city so I have no idea of what life in a village is like, but I always had a desire to visit one when my dream My dream come true and this became my dream. My dream came true one day when our teacher announced that we would visit Bhagwati Gram as part of our Geography Project. This village is about twenty kilometres from the city.

We started our trip by bus on a beautiful Sunday morning. We had great fun in the bus singing popular songs, telling jokes and stories. We hardly noticed the time when suddenly our teacher told us that we had reached the village.

What a surprise when an old man, followed by a number of children, welcomed us and told us he was the village headman. He offered to show us lasing around his village and led the way to the rice fields. We walked on a very narrow path. As far as we could see, the fields looked like a green carpet. The blades of rice plants moved gently in the breeze. There was total silence all around except for the chirping of birds now and again. This was so different from the noise of the city. Our teacher took the opportunity to tell us all about growing ho rice. The headman also told us about some of his experiences.

After about an hour or so we returned to the village, and we were taken to a well, surrounded by trees. There we had our lunch which we had brought with us. The headman joined us and he was happy to taste our kind of food.

All too soon it was time to return home. The day was a joyous one for all of us, a day on which we learned more than we do in the classroom.

A village fair is similar to the fairs held in our cities, with the exception that the goods sold are tailored to the requirements and preferences of the villagers. There are stalls with a variety of goods for sale. Food stands are often the busiest, both in city and village fairs. Vendors sell various household items like "matkas," pots and pans, tiny colourful boxes for holding trinkets or medicines, and so on. Other items include clay or aluminium kitchenware. Women can often be seen bargaining and buying things that catch their attention.

My Visit to a Village Fair

Last year, I went to the Baisakhi fair in my native village. Many people from nearby villages attended the fair. Everyone appeared to be in a festive mood. Their laughter had no bounds and there was a lot that intrigued and attracted me. The locals were dressed in beautiful attire. The kids were ecstatic in every way. All around, people were laughing. The villagers sang traditional songs. I had a good time while dancing to the sound of drums.

There was a lot of excitement and commotion. The marketplace was crammed. Jugglers and rope dancers were present. They entertained the locals by performing feats and tricks. I loved the swings and my favourite were the merry-go-rounds. The fair was a medley of sounds and sights. I came across dance performances and also a wrestling match and a juggler's show. In the evening, there were races and matches. Prizes were awarded to the winners. At nightfall, the crowds began to disperse with armfuls of sweets and toys. I had a great time.
