1. Keep it real. It’s normal to want to make a good impression on the school of your choice, but it’s also important to show who you really are. So just be yourself! Compelling stories might not be perfectly linear or have a happy ending, and that’s OK. It’s best to be authentic instead of telling schools what you think they want to hear.
2. Be reflective . Think about how you’ve changed during high school. How have you grown and improved? What makes you feel ready for college, and how do you hope to contribute to the campus community and society at large?
3. Look to the future. Consider your reasons for attending college. What do you hope to gain from your education? What about college excites you the most, and what would you like to do after you graduate? Answering these questions will not only give colleges insight into the kind of student you’ll be, but it will also give you the personal insight you’ll need to choose the school that’s right for you.

Mr. Throwback all started with Stephen Curry co-hosting a celebrity game show.
Peacock's Mr. Throwback is an interesting hybrid, a combination of sitcom and sports documentary satire that also marks the pairing of a major comedy presence and a Team USA Olympian and NBA MVP acting as you've never seen him before.
So, how did this blending of elements come together? We can all thank a celebrity game show.
According to executive producer David Caspe –– who co-created the new series with his Happy Endings collaborators Adam Pally (who also stars), Daniel Libman, and Matthew Libman –– the road to Mr. Throwback began back in 2022, with About Last Night , the celebrity unscripted series hosted by Stephen and Ayesha Curry . The show featured various stars teaming up with their spouses for a game that challenged their willingness to answer awkward, raunchy, and intriguing questions about their relationships. Among the guests during the eight-episode run were Pally and his wife Daniella, and Caspe and his wife, Happy Endings star Casey Wilson .
RELATED: Mr. Throwback: How to Watch Steph Curry's New Comedy Series on Peacock
"I would never normally do any television show that I'm on camera for out of pure fear and embarrassment," Caspe told NBC Insider , "but my wife is an actress and she was asked to do this TV show that Ayesha and Stephen hosted. And I had to do it because I'm a huge basketball fan and a huge Stephen Curry fan. And we did it and we had a great time and hit it off with Stephen."
Curry's chemistry with Caspe and Pally on the show (though the two appeared on different episodes) caught the eye of producer Erick Peyton, co-founder of Curry's production company, Unanimous Media. With that chemistry in mind, Peyton encouraged Pally and Caspe to develop a project where they could collaborate further with Curry, which sent the pair into a brainstorm session with the Libman brothers to get the right idea.
RELATED: Everything to Know About Mr. Throwback
"Stephen's production company, headed by the great Erick Peyton, reached out to both of us saying, 'Do you guys possibly have an idea for Stephen to act in?' And we were like, 'Holy s--t, that's incredible,'" Caspe said. "And we didn't have an idea, but of course we said we did. And then we quickly called the Libman Brothers and all of us got on a Zoom and started talking and trying to brainstorm an idea and pretty quickly landed on what is pretty similar to what you see on your screen now. And that was it."
Mr. Throwback 's basic plot follows a desperate sports memorabilia dealer named Danny Grossman (Pally), who was a great basketball player as a teenager and, once upon a time, was childhood best friends with NBA great Steph Curry (Curry, playing a fictionalized version of himself). When Danny gets in trouble, he reconnects with Steph in an effort to get some quick cash, but quickly gets in deeper than he ever imagined. With that initial hook in place, the concept went to Peyton, who was intrigued and arranged a meeting with Curry. It was there that the Unanimous Media co-founder realized they had something special.
"We did a Zoom with Stephen and they all pitched out the concept to SC and he dug it," Peyton recalled to NBC Insider . "But more than anything, I saw the chemistry between all of them, right? I think you get all these pitches and they pitch out their show, and that's great. But then it's really the 10, 15 minutes after the pitch of people doing bits and suggestions of stories and just the vibe that was created, especially between Pally and SC. We shot a little sizzle with both of them and the rest is history."

So, what's it like writing jokes for Steph Curry? According to Caspe and the Libmans, the NBA icon was just as driven to push his comedy skills as he is to push himself on the court.
"Honestly, the only note we ever got back from his team was, 'Go harder,' Caspe said. "He wanted to have fun and to give him more comedy, fun stuff to do and just go for it. Really, and they were such great collaborators that we never really felt any anxiety sending him scripts or anything. We were just excited for him to see them and excited to hear his point of view. And he was always like a 'Yes, and' guy. He was like, 'That's terrific. What if we also did this?' And, 'Oh, this is something from my actual life that happens and why don't we incorporate that?' And he was incredible to work with."
Mr. Throwback premieres August 8 on Peacock .

Occasionally producers punch up a concentrated look at one event. This was a gripping display of the breadth of Olympic sports, and it was hard not to get hooked.
Millions of Americans have shared similar experiences during the past week and half, powering a much-needed rebound for Peacock, the streaming service that was often the target of ridicule during Olympics in Tokyo in 2021 and Beijing in 2022.
“It’s been a real turnaround,” said Mark Lazarus, chairman of the NBC Universal Media Group. With several days of competition remaining, NBC has surpassed 17 billion minutes streamed for the Paris games — the vast majority on Peacock — exceeding the streaming minutes for all of the previous Olympics combined.
Rather than detract from it, the chief executive believes Peacock has helped NBC’s television outlets to a ratings performance in Paris that has network honchos giddy with joy.
Lazarus ordered a teardown of Peacock’s Olympics operation, memorably conceding in June that consumers had reacted with “the big digital middle finger” to their past work. Peacock was hard to navigate and plagued with glitches. NBC also admits to failing to deliver on promises that Peacock would be the comprehensive Olympics experience, balking at showing some live events for fear it would cannibalize TV audiences — a traditional line of thinking that Paris has proven outmoded.
Led by a new executive team that included Matt Strauss, chairman of NBC’s direct to consumer unit, and Peacock President Kelly Campbell, they studied other sports and streaming outfits for new ideas.
“This in many ways is not their first bite of the apple, but they had a number of years to learn,” said Craig Moffett, analyst for the technology and media research firm MoffettNathanson. It’s clear they learned several smart lessons, he said.
The whip-around “Gold Zone” product, which has proven enormously popular in Paris, is a knockoff of DirecTV’s NFL “Red Zone,” including some of the same personnel. It matches the original’s high-adrenaline pace, taking viewers to noteworthy events — particularly when medals are decided.
Peacock offers several multi-view screens that show a handful of live events happening at the same time. While “Gold Zone” is curated by producers, on multi-view consumers can click on one of the boxes to concentrate on one event in particular. In effect, viewers can produce their own show.
2024 Olympics: Meet the medalists from the United States
Most importantly, they’re effective navigation tools leading people into all Peacock has to offer. Many viewers are entranced by events they knew little about, like when Peacock on Tuesday highlighted Cuban Mijain Lopez winning a fifth straight gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling. Such an achievement would be lost on television, since NBC focuses on high-profile sports like gymnastics, swimming and track.
“As a lifelong Olympic watcher and a lifelong Olympic broadcast/streaming complainer, really have to hand it to NBC for how incredible Peacock has been this go around,” Brandon Wall, a social media director at CBS News, wrote on X.
Kelsey McKinney of defector.com, which covers sports and culture, wrote that Peacock had created the perfect Olympic experience for someone like her.
“This is such a sensible approach — one that understands and respects the desires of an average viewer — it’s almost hard to believe an American network came up with it,” McKinney wrote.
The Paris games have also afforded Peacock some advantages, including strong performances by the U.S. team and a return to crowds at events after COVID-19 restrictions. A time zone six hours ahead of the eastern United States also helped; NBC would have hated that in the past, since there are no live events available for its prime-time show, but it’s a bonanza for Peacock users in the afternoon.
More people working at home in the post-COVID era is also helping Peacock, Lazarus speculated.
“It’s probably not hard to imagine a lot more people are watching the Olympics from their home offices than they would from cubicles,” he said.
Peacock offers other Olympics features, including a personalized highlights package narrated by an artificial intelligence-generated voice of Al Michaels, and a comic look with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson. Since the games have started, it has begun offering a collection of Snoop Dogg moments from NBC broadcasts, and a service that shows medal ceremonies since consumers requested it.
Peacock had 33 million paid subscribers earlier this year. NBC would not say how many people have signed up for the Olympics.
The key question for NBC Universal is how many of those new subscribers will be motivated to stick with Peacock after the games end. They don’t necessarily need a lot of those new customers to stay for it to be considered a success, Moffett said.
Lazarus said that some 70 percent of people who signed up for the service because it was broadcasting an NFL playoff game last winter wound up keeping their subscriptions for at least three months.
“I feel really good about it,” he said.

A program that provided more than one million Covid shots to uninsured and underinsured people is coming to an end.
By Dani Blum and Katie Mogg
There are just two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine left in the fridge at Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett in Norcross, Ga. Once those shots have been used, the nonprofit fears it may have to charge its patients for what was once a free vaccine.
“Once we’re out of it, we’re not going to be able to serve them unless they can pay,” said Greg Lang, chief financial officer at the nonprofit, which serves more than 25,000 uninsured Georgia residents. The shot can cost over $100 out of pocket, plus the charge to administer it.
After Covid-19 vaccines transitioned to the commercial market last fall, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stepped in to ensure that adults without insurance, or those whose insurance plans did not fully cover the vaccine, could receive shots for free. The agency’s Bridge Access Program provided roughly 1.5 million shots, said Dr. Georgina Peacock, the director of the immunization services division at the C.D.C. Nationwide, about 27 million adults do not have health insurance.
But the program ends this month, making it even harder for health centers to provide shots for free. The C.D.C. announced in May that funding for the program, which clinics expected to last through December, would actually run out by the end of August. A spokesman from the C.D.C. said the agency is discussing strategies to increase vaccine access for people without insurance.
For community health clinics, the uncertainty comes at an already challenging time: Covid is circulating . Updated Covid vaccines are expected to arrive in the fall, driving more people into clinics seeking shots. And fall and winter will most likely bring new waves of cases.
Community health clinics often care for patients who are uninsured and unable to pay for vaccines out of pocket. Many are restaurant workers, cashiers, drivers and others who, without vaccination, are more vulnerable to infection and may lack the paid time off needed to stay home if they fall ill.
