Why not use free PowerPoint templates with animation? The answer: style and time . Sure, you can build your own interactive PowerPoint from scratch.

But it takes a long time. And it won't look as good as interactive PowerPoint presentations made by experts.

Let's get started:

1. The Intro Slide

Why not start at the beginning? Impress your audience with stunning PowerPoint animation examples.

Start by selecting a slide with an eye-catching design. Then type your text into the placeholders.

As you can see, the intro slide has a variety of text placeholders. The first step is to add in your own text. Do that by highlighting any block of existing text, and then typing over it.

With the text highlighted, find the Font section on the  Home  tab. There, you can add effects like bold and italics, while changing font sizes and styles too.

To build a PPT animation deck, check out your animation options. Find those on the Animations  tab. Keep in mind, templates like this are pre-animated.

You don't have to add these effects from scratch! That's a powerful feature not found in a PowerPoint animation free download.

To view the pre-built animations, click on the  Animation Pane  button. A sidebar will open, listing the effects on the slide. In this case, you'll see a list of seven effects. 

The 0 beside each indicates that all effects exist as a group. With one highlighted, you'll see the start trigger set to  After Previous . These two indicators say that all seven effects will automatically play in sequence.

Click Preview and watch the slide animate. 

2. The Infographic Slide

These are illustrations that help explain ideas. Animation brings them to life.

Infographics help explain your ideas. You won't find the best ones in animated PPT templates free download options.

Consider a slide like this. Notice the individual ideas shown in the nodes on each side of the slide. Chances are you might want to talk through these in sequence.

Having them all appear on the slide at once might not be the best option. Like the intro slide, this one is pre-animated.

But remember, you don't have to use every animation exactly as included! With PPT and premium templates, you still have ultimate creative control.

Back on the  Animation Pane , look at the list of animations. One (Picture 4) is the illustration in the center of the slides. The  Group  sections are the individual nodes. 

Suppose you want to have the illustration appear. Then you want to trigger each node manually. To do that, click on Group 5, then on the Start dropdown.

Change the setting from  After Previous to On Click . You'll see the 0 turn into a 1, indicating your new sequence. Repeat this for the other groups. 

When you're finished, go to the  Slide Show  tab and click  Play from Current Slide . The illustration will appear first, and from there you can click once to advance to each node in sequence. This is the perfect way to control the speed and pace of your narrative.

3. The Image Slide

Last but not least is the image slide. As you can see, it's got some text, along with an image. 

Again, let's return to the  Animation pane. Click on the photo animation, Picture 3, and notice the effect the template uses. It's a simple  Fly In , one of the most common animations in the world.

For your purposes, you might want something with a little more pizazz. On the left side of the  Animations tab, click the dropdown right below. You'll see a menu featuring dozens of cool, flashy options.

Browse through them, clicking each thumbnail to apply the effect. Notice that PowerPoint previews each animation on the image. This instant-preview capability helps you dial in on the perfect choice for you.

• On an empty PowerPoint slide, right click and select ‘Format Background’. From the side panel, select ‘Picture or texture fill’ and paste / insert your desired background photo.
• By the left-hand side of your slide, insert a round-edged square with a weighted outline in the color of your choice.
• Right click on the round-edged square and click on ‘Format shape’. From the side panel, fill it with a picture that represents your first point of topic.
• Beside it, insert a rounded rectangle to serve as your text box. Add text on top accordingly.
• Consider the photo + text as one block: add the other blocks just below that will serve as different points of topic for your presentation.
• Once done, group the blocks altogether.
• Add rectangles to the top and bottom edges of the slide, leaving a focal space where one block would fit perfectly.
• Select the newly added rectangles and right click. Then, select ‘Format Object’.
• From the side panel, tick the radio button for “Slide background fill”. This creates an invisible barrier for the top and bottom edges of your slide from which your blocks would slip through under, as if scrolling.
• Duplicate the slide. On the duplicated slide, move the grouped blocks up to position the focus on the 2nd block.
• Keep on duplicating and repeating the same step until all blocks have been positioned at the same focal zone of the slides.
• Once done, select all slides. Go to the ‘Transitions’ tab and apply ‘Morph’.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to set up individual destination slides, design a door-themed background, and link each door to its respective slide:

• Prepare your individual slides, the ones where the doors lead to.
• In this example, we’re using doors to help us achieve the illusion of having to open them to move to a slide. Try Freepik for high-quality, free-to-use images.
• Once you have that photo with doors set as a slide background, insert rectangles on top of each door.
• Select all the rectangles. Then, right click and select ‘Format Object’. From the side panel, tick the radio button for ‘Slide background fill’. Under ‘Line’, tick ‘No line’.
• Select the first rectangle, which should now appear exactly as the first door on the slide background, and go to the ‘Insert’ tab.
• To avoid confusion, make the linking chronological. For instance, the first rectangle (door) is linked to Slide 1. The second is linked to Slide 2, and so on.
• Once hyperlinks are done, duplicate the main (doors) slide to as much as your prepped slides. Then, place the duplicates in between each slide.
• Select all slides then go to the ‘Transitions’ tab and apply ‘Doors’.

Try this: pick three points in the room (typically: left, center, right). Take time to direct your delivery toward each physical focal point in the room. Also, focus on the center when making your primary points.

26. Vary Your Sentence Length

This makes you sound more interesting, and it’s easier for your audience to follow. Think short and punchy. Or go long and complex for dramatic effect.

27. Modulate!

Don’t speak in monotone for your whole presentation. Be conscious of raising and lowering your voice tone. Otherwise, people will tune you out, and you’ll come across like the teacher in Charlie Brown.

28. Practice in Front of a Mirror

What you look like is as important as how you sound. Pretend you’re having a normal conversation, and allow your hands to move with your speech to emphasize your points. Just don’t get carried away! (I’m thinking Brene Brown or President Obama , not your Aunt Jamie after a few gin and tonics.)

29. Use “Present Mode” When Rehearsing

When you finally are ready to hit the Present button in PowerPoint, make sure you use the Present Mode option. This allows you (and only you) to view extra notes about each slide—just in case you forget something!

If possible, try doing a few real live test runs as a webinar or even at a local Toastmasters organization to get some feedback from a live audience.

When we’re stressed or nervous (or both), we tend to speak faster. Consciously, take yet another deep breath and remind yourself to take it slow!

Animation Painter is an interesting feature available in PowerPoint that helps us to copy and paste animation styles to other objects. This works pretty similar to Format Painter but for animations instead and can be really useful if you need to copy animations along different objects on the same slide or other slides.

The functionality works pretty similar to Format Painter . Unlike Format Painter, which helps to apply the same formatting to shapes and text boxes, Animation Painter is intended to be used to copy animation effects.

How to Copy Animations in PowerPoint using Animation Painter?

It’s easy. Once you have added an animation to an object, go to Animation tab and click Animation Painter once. Then, go to another object in which you want to paste the animation and click on it.

If you want to apply the same animation effect to multiple objects, you can click twice on Animation Painter. Similarly, in Format Painter, when you click twice (double click) on this button, it will lock the animation painter functionality so you can apply it to multiple shapes.
